What does that have to do with Ridge? It's just a matter of someone spraying pepper spray in an enclosed space. If there is a fan or any kind of air movement in the room, people will be affected and there will probably be a stampede.

its been the lead story over here for most of the day. They had a reporter from one of the chicago radio stations on and he said some of the people he interviewed from the club said some of the people were panicing thinking there was an attack. How true that is is a different matter but that is what he said.

It is a bit assumptious to say if the terror alert was lower, this would not have happened, but I definitely agree that these alerts could put panic in people's minds and assume pepper spray was something else.

If I thought a poison was being sprayed, I'd be getting fuck out of there too.

I've been in a club where pepper spray was used by someone, it just pissed people off. That was a few years ago. It is definitely strange hundreds of people would panic because of pepper spray.

Must not be very small clubs you are going to. If pepper spray is used in an enclosed space, it burns. People panic when their throats and eyes burn. Trust me, it has absolutely nothing to do with that silly terror alert.

The problem with some women is that they get pregnant and can't face the fact that they're not living JUST for themselves anymore. If you can't handle the fact that you're gonna have to make some lifestyle changes for your unborn child, then for fuck's sake... DO NOT GET PREGNANT.

that same thing happened when i was at Club Living about a year and a half ago (just after 9/11)... i took off my shirt and held it over my mouth, no big deal... cops and ambulance evacuated the place (about 500 people min)... nobody got trampled or died... what a bunch of morons they are.

All of this is just us sitting on a chat board and guessing, but I can't remember ever hearing of 21 people being trampled to death before this because of pepper spray in the air. So yeah, it seems likely that the terrorist threat in general is involved in this scenario. That said, the alternative is to not warn people when there's credible evidence of a possible terrorist strike, and I'm quite certain it wouldn't sit well with Americans if thousands died after the government knew there was evidence of a possible attack and said nothing. So while I do think the threat level played in to the deaths, I think the people ultimately responsible for the deaths are the trampling, panicking masses who packed into that night club.

Panic breeds panic...say you didn't notice the spray at first but you see people stampeeding to the door in a mass panic. Most people panic when they see people panicing. They don't stop to reason out what it is.

Hmm, and what is safer? Crossing the street can be harmful, going shopping can be harmful, driving a car can be harmful, who are we to tell someone that they cannot go to a nightclub because they are pregnant. I am not saying that it is something that I would do, but it does happen, why should we judge, there are pregnant women that are still talent/content that people push, is that not harmful?

just this past friday nite, some guy got gunned down right in front of the club we were at (Bubbles) on St. Laurent - we came out around 3:30am and the cops had the whole street section taped off and were taking pics of the scene while the ambulance crew were bagging and tagging the body.

and i live in Montreal, not Chicago or NYC, where it must be 100x worse... call me old fashioned, but it ain't no place for a girl who's preggers, even if she was "drinking water" (to wash down her E or speed perhaps)... LOL :1orglaugh

A nightclub is crowded, has fights often, smokey as hell, etc. I didn't say she should be out doing a porno shoot either. It irritates me when people compare crossing the street to shit like this. You can die doing anything but don't put an unborn baby in a more dangerous situation than you have to just so you can talk to friends.

But I will address some of the things you said:

1) Crossing the street, going to the mall, and driving a car CAN indeed be harmful. But these are things we NEED to do in most cases. Not the same as going to a nightclub where drunks can get into fights and knock you down, depending on where you live, there may be smokers and second hand smoke in the air; and shit like pple slipping you something in your drink or even like everyone is saying here... spraying pepper spray in the air. Totally unnecessary and uncalled for when you are with child.

2) I don't agree with pregnant women as content, but again, we may be talking NECESSITY there. They may need the money to support their coming child, who knows? So I won't judge those women. But any woman who thinks a nightclub PACKED with over 1000 people is SAFE is just fucking STUPID. So yes, I will judge that woman. She shouldn't have been there! Period. Once she got to the entrance and saw how packed it was, she should have turned around and left.

It's called lack of better judgement. And she paid the price. Sadly, so did her unborn child for her stupidity.

I stand by my statements and you can stand by yours, I just think judging someone based on the fact that she was in a nightclub is unfair.

Not sure about the smoke laws out there, but here 99% of the bars are smoke free, if your at a ghetto bar then you can expect fights, but that is normally not the case...like I said I may not agree with it, but I am simply not going to judge her because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time!
