Bon Jovi's 19 year old daughter OD's on heroin

is heroin now a fairly commonly used recreational drug for college kids? Bon Jovi's daughter, a freshman at a New York state college od'ed this morning. that's just pathetic - heroin?

Imortyl Pussycat 11-14-2012 11:43 AM

omg, that's so sad :( heroin has made a huge comeback especially in this economy (cheaper high). i live in south orange county and there have been teen deaths due to heroin over doses in big numbers each year for the last few years here.

"Bongiovi was found unresponsive, but alive, in her college dorm room, where police and emergency personnel responded to the scene and discovered a “small quantity” of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, reports"

bronco67 11-14-2012 11:46 AM

I thought people went to college to learn.

xNetworx 11-14-2012 11:47 AM

I personally know several people who have OD'd on heroin. Its like playing with fire.

Penny24Seven 11-14-2012 11:47 AM

no but pills are and when they run out or cant find pills they try that shit and OD

2012 11-14-2012 11:49 AM

anybody know where I can score some heroin ?

JP-pornshooter 11-14-2012 11:51 AM

OD'ing implies death, correct?
if not, then it was just another high?

overdose doesn't necessarily mean death. emergency rooms see people every day who are classified 'overdose' cases and most pull through.

The 19-year-old daughter of rocker Jon Bon Jovi was arrested after allegedly overdosing on heroin

Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested early Wednesday morning, after cops responded to a dorm room at Hamilton College, in upstate New York, where a female had allegedly overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive. Volunteer medical personnel were already at the scene when police arrived.

Bongiovi was one of two college students arrested after a small amount of heroin was found at the scene.

The singer’s daughter was arrested on misdemeanor charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Bongiovi, who is currently at a hospital recovering, was eventually released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The college gave details about the charges in a statement sent to FOX 411, noting the school is assisting police with the ongoing investigation.

“On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, members of the Kirkland Police Department arrested two Hamilton College students. One was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree, and the second was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree and possession of drug paraphernalia," the statement said. "All are misdemeanors. In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation."

Bongiovi is the only daughter of the “It’s My Life” singer, and is his oldest child with wife Hurley.

access to prescription drugs like oxy, etc has alot to do with heroin use, esp. amongst younger people

they start off using pills and then switch over to heroin when they get hooked because the latter is far cheaper. Prescription drugs are heavily implicated in heroin addiction because popping a pill is more socially acceptable than injecting. Pills don't have the same 'junkie' stigma. Once they get hooked, though, they don't care about that anymore. Then they switch over to heroin

mineistaken 11-14-2012 12:08 PM

how brain damaged should be a person to use heroin?

Yep, it's crazy how many people Oxycodone kills, but the only time you hear about it is when celebs die the rest of the time headlines focus on illegal drugs that actually don't make nearly as much damage.:disgust

I've never used heroin...but I've read a lot about it.

It was perfectly legal when it first came out. It was actually created by the people who make Bayer aspirin. And it was sold worldwide for years. Pretty interesting...and as usual, once it was made illegal, the use of it increased:

"The Bayer Company started the production of heroin in 1898 on a commercial scale. The first clinical results were so promising that heroin was considered a wonder drug. Indeed, heroin was more effective than codeine in respiratory diseases.

It has turned out, however, that repeated administration of heroin results in the development of tolerance and the patients become heroin-addicts soon. In the early 1910s morphine addicts "discovered" the euphorising properties of heroin and this effect was enhanced by intravenous administration. Heroin became a narcotic drug and its abuse began to spread quickly.

Restrictions on its production, use and distribution were regulated by international treties. The total ban on heroin production was also proposed. As a result of the strict regulations the production and cosumption of heroin showed a significant decrease after 1931. At the same time the underworld recognized the shortage of heroin and started the illicit production and trafficking.

The quantity of heroin seized by law enforcement agencies in the past decades rose gradually. As an indicator of the worldwide heroin market, the quantity of confiscated heroin underwent a tenfold increase since 1970."

Heroin has always been huge with wealthy kids.

I didn't think of that. You probably hit the nail on the head.

Back when Jerry Garcia was still alive, if the Grateful Dead was touring within 200 miles of your hometown there would suddenly be a lot of good acid everywhere.

Makes sense that the Afghan war would mean more heroin for the U.S.

Has anyone here ever done it? Everything I've read about it says that the feeling of Euphoria is so intense that nothing can match it. (and that's one of the reasons I never even thought about it...sounds like you would get hooked on that feeling even faster than you would get an actual physical addiction)

Read Keith Richard's book "Life". He kinda explained how the people he knew had died from heroin.

He said that it usually happened when they got "clean".
They would do heroin for a long time and build up a tolerance to it. Then they would get "clean" and kick it.

But inevitably they would have a backsliding moment when they would decide to do it "one more time" for fun.

Then they would take the same dosage they did before.

Only now their bodies no longer had the tolerance for it and they overdosed. :(

He said he was always real careful to never do that during the numerous times he cleaned up over the years. But friends of his like Gram Parsons weren't so careful and died.

Yanks_Todd 11-14-2012 01:42 PM

My brother is currently homeless and a heroin addict. For him and many people it starts as an Oxycontin addiction. It then progresses from taking the pills to smoking them, to eventually snorting a mixture of heroin and water. Finally shooting up. It's sad really. He made the choices himself, but it does shock me that Oxy is legal.

Foreigners in Cambodia who think they are buying coke are often sold heroin a few end up dead in their hotel room. very easy to overdose on it.

Yeah, I see more and more people addicted to prescription drugs. It's a nightmare.

The doctors will prescribe that shit like it's candy (dentists too).

You shouldn't take a painkiller like oxy or Vicodin, etc. for more than a few days.
But if you go to the doctor, they will give you a 30 day supply with 3 or 4 refills!

Basically they are drug pushers for the pharmaceutical companies. :(

I had a bad auto accident in 2002 and had my neck and both arms broken. Spent a month in the hospital in ICU and a week of that awake with a morphine drip.

The day I got out of the hospital they gave me a big prescription of pain killers...3 months worth!!!

I threw the prescription away without ever filling it. I needed to be alert and get back to business (I had an employee do the typing for me at the office because both arms were in casts).
I had to have a clear mind.

But if I had taken that prescription and all those pills for months...I would have ended up addicted.

as long as you have money and a good source you can take H for years and still look/behave like a normal person. and i am sure Keith Richards had enough money to buy clean stuff (even though he will never look like a normal person)

the problem usually starts when you dont have money and you buy crap that has all kinds of stuff mixed in there - up to rat poison and similar

thats when you body starts falling apart - and thats when you risk OD cause you dont have any idea anymore how much H is really in there. suddenly you get clean stuff "by accident" and you're done.

Boy that would be stupid.

I would first taste the cocaine. You'd know instantly if it wasn't coke.

Those idiots must buy a bag, lay out giant lines and snort it up without even wondering what it is first.
Hell, I've never even met anybody that would do a drug deal and be that damn dumb.

But they must be out there. :(

Yeah, he talks about that in his book.

The heroin wasn't always the best..because he was a junkie and would find whatever he could in a pinch.

But he did say the cocaine he did was THE best in the world. He usually gets Merk pharmaceutical cocaine from his dealer...the kind of stuff we could never, ever get.
