DOJ certified letter?
I got a certified letter for a friend here in my mailbox(he using my address for mail) but hes too scared he doesn't want me to open it..:1orglaugh
Question is why would DOJ send someone a certified letter? :error |
Why doesn't he open it and find out?
Avoiding the issue isn't going to make it go away. |
a "friend" is you?

So steam open it, if it's bad re-seal and return to sender writing "recipient not here" or "wrong address" on the envelope.

So you are being used as a mail drop and receive a letter from DOJ? Nice friend. Did you sign for the letter?

no dude..my friend lived here with me for 2yrs.. he moved to a diff state but i still get all his crap here.. so i got this letter.. phoned him..and thats why i posted here.. im gonna mail the letter to him but im curious what could be in the letter.. |
i guess what im asking in essence is if they were trying to arrest him they wouldnt send a letter?
i was just curious because i never knew DOJ sent letters to people.. i envision someone busting your door open at 4am.. "FREEZE MOFO" dont move.. |
budget cuts, they don't have $$ to arrest people anymore... so now they send letters so criminals can turn themselves in... :1orglaugh

"accidentally" open it and tell us what it is. Please.

Probably a summons. They'll try again.

Why are you so scared? Do you do shady stuff?
|
Why post if your not going to tell
|
Probably a warning to be nice on the internet.

|
You have to sign for the receipt of certified mail the postman will not just leave it in the mailbox. |

Umm some of you are narrow minded thinkers..
I live in a downtown condo in a beautiful city in cali.. we have a door man who signs for ALL PACKAGES, FEDEX,UPS,USPS.. Now i have a friend who lived with me for a while because he didnt have a job and was looking for something to do in LA.. Anyway, i come home, i see i have a new letter in my condo box(ITS HIS CERTIFIED LETTER FROM DOJ).. makes sense now? Im not stupid, ive been in this business all my life..IF I HAD A LETTER i would fucking open it ASAP and then lawyer up if needed to.. I WOULDNT SIT HERE asking you guys what is in the letter? jeez.... anyway carry on.. i forwarded it to the dude and sadly i dont know whats in there...besides i wouldnt do anything stupid enough to get me sued or get in trouble.. I value my freedom too much and ive been around way too long |
Crappy ending. I want my money back.
You could have at least lied to us. Maybe around noon say you may open it. Start questing the steam method around 3. Then by 6 you open it and post that it says many porn sites are being investigated for something..... |

As for the letter it could be many things. Maybe they want him as a witness in an investigation? |
Should have marked it "RTS: Moved" and returned it.

Open the letter. See if it's something simple, call the local US Attorney's office and explain how you received the letter via doorman and accidentally opened it and explain he moved.
Something bad, call your friend first, then call the local US Attorney's office and explain how you received the letter via doorman and accidentally opened it and explain he moved. If it's bad they'll find him anyway and not bust your door down. People open mail accidentally all the time by not looking at who it is addressed to. Just assume if it's in their mailbox it's theirs. |

Maybe a jury duty letter?
|
18 USC §1702 |
If it was from the DOJ they wouldn't check the box to let an agent sign it. It would have to be signed for by the person it is addressed to.
