Romney/Obama Election...

So... based on the limited information I have seen from TV and internet advertisements and campaign spam I get in my real mailbox... it looks like we're fucked either way...

On one hand, you have Romney, who will send even more manufacturing jobs overseas. Also heard that he buys companies just to run them into the ground and bankrupt them.

On the other hand, you have Obama, who has really fucked this country so far and wants to force people to carry health insurance by 2014 (?) or you're basically fined on your tax returns.... among so many other things that it's not even funny.

The 2 paragraphs above are simply my observations. Tell me why one is better than the other. Enlighten me. :)

One final thought... 4 years ago, right around this time, gas was plummeting to the point where it was selling for less than $2/gal here in the US/Ohio area... why is it skyrocketing right now?

If you vote for Obama or Romney, you vote for a two-party system. If you want change, vote for Gary Johnson.

Maybe Ron Paul will form his own party, but it wouldn't make any difference as there is 'Electronic Voting'

mozadek 09-01-2012 04:11 PM

Do what the lunatics do, vote for Ron Paul.

You are always voting for the lesser of two evils.

Right now you have Romney and Obama, and Obama is the clear choice. And that's fucking sad - Because it seems to me Obama has never really had a real job or owned a business his entire life.

Highly moronic view - turn off Fox and Limbaugh and open your mind homie - I'm sure you are smart enough to grasp the concept that people who dont carry insurance still go in and get care that they don't pay for thus putting a DRAIN on the system that is bankrupting the economy - the mandate for health ins makes sure there is enough cash flow in to cover the expenditures. This is a REPUBLICAN idea and one of the few that is fair, equitable, and makes perfect sense.

The Republican opposition to a mandate now is FAKE - just like everything else about the Republiscams - they feign outrage over it because it makes for an easy accusation "Gov TAKEOVER of health care" "Obama wants to FORCE you to carry health ins" they are hoping the electorate are too dumb to grasp the obvious logic and mathematical necessity of it.

nextri 09-02-2012 09:11 AM

In a country where every person is entitled to get threated if he gets sick or get into an accident, it's only logical and fair that every person contributes to the cost of that system.
Call it a fine or a tax or whatever you want, but it's something that is needed in every developed country. If you think it should be optional to pay for health care, you should also agree to not get threated if you decline to pay, regardless of what health issue you may get.

Since you said Ohio your vote actually matters, might want to do a little more research on things. If you make $1mn or more a year, vote for mitt romney. If you don't, vote for Obama. It is really that simple

Right. Sorry, but what kind of a fucktard does one need to be to equate offshoring jobs with getting the population health insured and addressing the worst of the industry's abuses?!?!?!

Actually if you want the job market and the economy to recover you need to vote for Mitt Romney. If you believe the fairy tale that raising taxes to further increase the size of this government will fix anything and the government is better at creating jobs than the private sector, then Obama is your man.

That's shit talk. Obama has CUT our taxes! The only ones he now wants to raise taxes on are the ones who have been getting away with financial murder for years! America can no longer afford to indulge rich deadbeats. Mitt should pay the same tax rate as the rest of us!!!! 13%?? (if that! - it could be 0%) What the actual fuck?!?!

The changes to the tax code made under Obama and the analyses by the Tax Policy Center show that for the middle 60 percent of the income distribution, both the average tax paid and the average tax rate fell between 2008 and 2011. We rate Obama?s statement True.

And he does. America has been pretty damn good to Mitt. Now the shitbag hides his money away while the rest of us pay. Kind of like how he hid during Vietnam - ducking his responsibility to his country then, too. It was the steaming jungles for the average guy - the Paris lights for privileged Mittens.

I digress. Taxes must be paid. Grown ups know that. Mitt Romney appreciates you paying his share of taxes. He's drooling to get into power so he can give HIMSELF an even bigger tax break. If he isn't paying it - you are, sucker.

Why wouldn't he? Who the fuck doesn't do everything they can to legally cut their taxes? Why would anyone give it to you liberals to fund Obama's welfare state and illegal immigrants?

One is you working for the income the other is your money working for your income. They are both income as it is paid by others.

Well you don't pay employment tax and other benefits when you hire illegals so of course Republicans want them here.

That is the difference between a real Republican and a trailer park Fox News watching racist one like duderick.

Strange... I thought this was the Romney/Obama Election thread...
But I will agree with you on that, Bush wasn't nearly tough enough on illegal immigration!

So I spend money to make money and I am taxed at normal rates, but he is just taxed on capital gains rates because its "investments"? Which he actually wants to reduce the rate to 0%. Also the vast majority of people do not make most of their money ways that would be taxed by capital gains. The guy slaving away actually working gets taxed at a higher rate.

epitome 09-02-2012 01:55 PM

He did not already pay taxes on the returns his investment generated. He paid income tax on his original investment. Any gains is new income as it is coming from somewhere else.

Jesus no wonder this country is so fucked.

No, its not the same thing... Income tax is on the money that you earn, taxes on interest and dividends is on profit from your savings and investments. They are taxed at different rates. Not just for the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiich, but everyone with a savings or a 401K account.

I'm now of the opinion we shouldn't let ANYBODY have more than one term. President, Congressman, or Senator.

Send them ALL home.

So with my new thought on that...elect Romney. And then in 4 years..vote him out.

When he has income from working, he (and you) pays the higher income tax rate on that money. When he invests it (and has already paid taxes on that money that he has earned and is now investing) the taxes (on that profit) are at a lower tax rate, just like your savings account, mutual fund and (when you withdraw the money) your 401K.

You should give up on this thread now. :error

401k is a tax deferred plan. You still pay ordinary income tax when you withdraw it.

I thought the rate of tax on your 401K is very low UNLESS you withdraw it ahead of time?

I'm not sure of that though. I had a SEP plan and it penalized me with high taxes because I had to withdraw it before retirement.

You are absolutely right, I was just coming back to correct myself on that. 401K withdrawals are taxed as ordinary income because you did not pay income tax on the money to start with, which is exactly my point! You have already paid income taxes on investment income at a higher tax rate, you just said it yourself, you should give up this thread now! :1orglaugh

Frankly, I don't think there should BE such a distinction. When people with Mitt's kind of cash pay less on their dividend income than a working stiff does on his wages - that's fucked up.

Dude, you are thick as shit. Mitt has you rooting for HIM, instead of yourself!

Taxes MUST be paid. SOMEONE is going to pay them. If it's not him - IT'S YOU! Why do you think the slippery bastard won't release his taxes?

I think YOUR taxes should be lower, and MITT'S should be higher. You disagree.

You're Mitt's little bitch. :1orglaugh

Maybe if you kiss his ass and give him even MORE, then good things will come your way.
