the local news here is has 'bleeped' out a live report from a student saying who it was who was in the room when this happened.....this is a rather upscale suburb/school too where this occured on the other side of town

In high school, I dressed in black every day (black jeans, black metal band t-shirt, my dad's old black combat boots from 'Nam). I had long hair down to the middle of my back. I loved metal (including "satanic bands" like Deicide) and horror movies. I always read books on the occult, and could almost always be seen carrying one of LaVey's books on Satanism. At 5' 5" and barely 120 lbs., everyone still moved out of my way when I walked down the halls, because of their believe that I was pure evil. I was anti-social, and only had a couple of people that I talked to.

But, at the same time that everyone thought I was sacrificing animals to a goat lord, I was also in Advanced Placement courses and getting a proper education. Those who actually talked to me found that I was always respectful and courteous, and always used my manners. By society's ideas, I should have been on a mass murdering rampage. But my parents raised me right. :2 cents:

same here. only thing i ever got in trouble for in highschool was wearing a Suicidal tendencies shirt. Labeled a misfit, outcast, etc,... got jumped by the prep boys/jocks and fought off 4 etc,... been through the same man.

And yes, meanwhile I was excelling in grades, passed their expectations and was one of the best students despite my metal fandom.

The root of the issue with people wanting to arm themselves has nothing to do with protecting ourselves from thugs. Tried to buy a gun here in the US recently? Didn't think so. Do you really believe the shit you typically spew?

I also don't know many young people who think that killing someone is cool. When was the last time you were in the States hanging out my young people Paul?

Because most people don't see it an issue and 99.999% of the time it has no effect on their lives.

So it's kinda fucked to see people know really don't know what they're talking about talking like their another expert, because they read something on the internet once or twice.

Senior year my gym teacher sent me to the principal's office because my White Zombie shirt said "I went to Hell and all I got was this crappy t-shirt" on the back. And, I had to move my hair for him to read it. They made me turn my shirt inside out, and called my mom at work. She asked the principal, "Don't you have something better to do?"

I could understand if it said "shitty t-shirt," but Hell is a place, and was used in that sense. The remainder of the year, I never wore the shirt again, but saw some other kid who didn't typically dress like a metalhead wear the same shirt over and over. He never got in trouble. I got singled out because of the stereotypes. Sadly, it's just the way it will always be, whether it's something minor like my t-shirt, or blaming the movies/music for the violence a disturbed individual commits.

Americans don't have a gun problem, they have a people problem. Guns themselves don't hurt anyone. It's the idiots who pick them up who cause all the problems.

And for the sake of debate, you could also blame the bullets.

I have guns. I grew up in a house with guns. I also drink and own a car. I grew up in a household with both cars and liquor. No one in our family ever shot anyone or drove drunk. Maybe the problem is idiots and idiots do stupid things. Or is that to simple an explanation?

Of course. No one wants to face reality and get to the root of WHY this kid shot four students and what honestly drove him to that point. And the answer isn't music. It's too easy to have a scape goat and wrap it up in politics so they can push some new agenda through.
