Dreamhost = Disaster

I think there should be a blacklist of hosting companies on GFY, it would make living much easier. I'd like to warn you to stay away from another catastrophy on this planet, Dreamhost.com!!! My server has been down for nearly...48 hours now. I'll be charging back as many months as possible

BIGTYMER 12-17-2011 12:52 AM

Sounds like your dream was a nightmare.

the Shemp 12-17-2011 12:53 AM

anexsia 12-17-2011 01:02 AM

I always check reviews on a well known web hosting forum before I purchase new hosting plans

Jarmusch 12-17-2011 01:10 AM

DreamHost is one of the longest running jokes on GFY.

Anexsia can you post the name of this forum?

jimmycooper 12-17-2011 01:15 AM

OP's incident aside, why is dreamhost percieved to be so shitty? I've had a few sites with them for about a year and a half with no problems.

FetishWeb 12-17-2011 01:25 AM

Who is a good sharedhost these days with a similar setup?

BIGTYMER 12-17-2011 01:26 AM

HostGator

You should have started you business plan in 2003

Dreamhost's virtual hosting is perfect for low-traffic feeder sites and blogs. Their dedicated servers simply suck.

2intense 12-17-2011 05:53 AM

hostgator

marlboroack 12-17-2011 06:07 AM

nightmarehost.com

Agreed, I have two virtual accounts with them for some low traffic blogs, no issues at all.

cherrylula 12-17-2011 06:29 AM

links pulled

CamTraffic 12-17-2011 06:32 AM

48 hours is a long ass time :(

sometimes paying a little more / month goes a long way, talking from experience here with another host i won't name (they post here a Lot $$)

Hate to say it but 'you got what you Paid for'

I'm not sure what these figures have in common with hosting but as a matter of fact I started my business plan in 2001 :-) and went through many both hosting and billing companies. Unfortunatelly nowadays the only business plan is cutting costs.

signupdamnit 12-17-2011 07:21 AM

Dreamhost Shared hosting is only for your sites which collectively make under $100 a month. Sites you don't care about but still don't want to lose. Anything more then get a better host.

porno jew 12-17-2011 07:29 AM

should have just went with webair.

(Without mentioning poo...)

Dubya 12-17-2011 02:01 PM

hostgator is a much better choice.

raymor 12-17-2011 04:58 PM

We work with different hosts everyday. Dreamhost is among the worst, in my opinion.

Hostgator is fine for a hobby site. Neither target professionals. Amerinoc, Webair, Mojohost and others target professional sites.

What kind of dumb ass statement is this?

Do you realize how much larger hostgator is than those companies?

Hostgator dwarfs every host thrown around here, their support is amazing and I can't think of one issue I've had with them in years and years. The only reason I don't use them for more stuff is that their dedicated servers are pricey.

I have a ton of virtuals with them with dedicated ips for my mainstream sites, working out very nicely so far.

If you have any mainstream links for sale I'm interested. High budget.
