Just a little edit I did today to show of some of my new DSLR shooting. I can shoot just about anything in this style now.

It looks cool for what it is. I'm sure you already know the focus limitations. But there are some dedicated video cams that are out now that can do this AND keep good focus for doing hand held hardcore shooting.

I'm probably gonna get one of those this next year. :)

Im going for very short depth of field on these shots. I can shoot and ISO 1250 and use F11 to shoot hardcore and it works well. You have to be good at focusing though and I have had a few months to practice and I am shooting all my scenes this way now. If you are thinking about getting into shooting DSLR and have any questions hit me up. I have already made most of the mistakes you can make and althought I was very leery about shooting sex scenes this way I now wont shoot any other way unless I am shooting POV of course :)

Looks great, I shot my entire new site coming out with one and it was definitely tough at first. I can see myself only wanting to shoot this way also. Keeping it focused was very tough at first and I did get better but still have a ways to go. I like the challenge though.

Good thing solo girl sites don't need high quality videos because it allowed me do alot of trial and error.

Looks great and she is the cutest thing going these days... but I just don't see how that looks any different that how it would be shot using a regular HD video camera.

Because it has depth of field. She is in focus and the background is not. Just like in "real" movies shot in Hollywood. That's probably the most desired effect in video (not film) shooting to try and get that film look.

While im no expert yet, its the depth of field you can create with these 2.8 lenses, the beautiful bokeh too. This is high quality glass.

Well, you can sort of fake it with a video cam by opening it up all the way, zooming up all the way, and placing the girl in a position with the background far in the distance.

But to do what he is doing on that vid...you would need one of the DSLR's (like the Canon 5 Mk2?)

But the problem with shooting with a DSLR is keeping it in focus. Check out the vid on Naughty Americas new "Tonights Girlfriend" and you'll see what I'm talking about:

That's why I was saying that there are some new dedicated vid cams that can get that same effect without the focus issues that you can plainly see in that Naughty America vid.

With image stabilizer on though, theres no way you could do that with something other than a trailer because you most likely wouldn't have music overlaying the sound that the image stabilizer creates.

That was an issue for me anyhow

Ah yes, that makes sense. I only get that effect when doing a video closeup of a girl fucking a toy and her face etc is blurred. :thumbsup

I got a Rode Video Mic Pro that is designed to work well with the 5D. The preamps on them are weird it takes a mic with a +DB setting to get a low signal to noise ratio. There is a +10 DB setting on this mic that works very well.

I had the AF100 and although I thought it was more practicle you didnt get the skin tones and depth that I wanted plus the color was very difficult to deal with. I sold my AF100 and I still have like $4000 worth of lenses I need to sell. I will stick with 2 5Ds for now and use the good shotgun mics. Seperate audio is way too much of a pain. With these clips I wasn't going for the natural audio that would be pretty boring but hey its softcore LOL

I tested out a few DSLR cameras that was a kit and came with a lens. You don't get much depth of field with the standard lens that those kits come with. Have you tried anything something similar to a prime. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens probably wouldn't work for handheld.

you can create this same affect with a standard video camera that has a face detection/tracking feature. i use a Canon Vixia HF S200 and when i want to create this affect i just touch the screen where the subject is and it will blur the background. if something comes into the background that i want to focus on, i just touch the screen where the subject is and it comes into focus and blurs out the first (closer) subject.

Interesting. I've never used one so I can't comment.

But I did read that there are some more vid cams coming out in the next year that also are able to do this. That AF100 sure looks good for the price...but from what you're saying it might be wise to wait a few months for some newer ones to come out.

I think it's going to be the next "standard" with vid cams and by this time next year all of them will have that capability.

Sony's competing product is quite nice.

They've got custom mounts for pretty much any lens you might have to put on them. Including you current stash.

I'm getting mine in January from my school.

Canon will also have a competing camera in this market soon. There will be an announcement in November.

We've used 2 hacked Panasonic GH1 with 20mm F1.7 for the last 6 months or so. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities where you can film guerilla style in quite dark locations and yet get great video with beautiful bokeh. The GH2 is supposed to be even better.

It's all about the Bokeh baby, 2 loked out niggaz going crazy.

Use an external audio recorder like the Tascam DR100 and keep your XLR mikes off the cam, there is software to synchronize video and audio on the timeline in Mac and PC edit applications or sync manually, it's quite easy.

Hey Jay high-five man, I also had the AF100 for a while and not happy with it either and sold it again after a few months. Apart from the colors I found the image a bit blurry, the only thing I liked was the crankup to 60fps to create awesome slow motion. I'm now using two GH2s and from time to time a Canon 7D. I prefer the 7D look (apart from the moire problem) but find the GH2 much more practical to work with. Also the GH2 was hacked, it's now possible to record 66MB/s or higher, terminating h264 compression artifacts.

Robbie what are you talking about, "auto focus" or "auto follow focus"? You really don't want to use any automatic focus on these cams, in the current HD consumer cams you have things like face locking focus but what if you want to keep the pussy in focus and have the face blurred? Are you saying that Panasonic and Sony are going to release DSLR video cams with "pussy locking focus"? Will they have pussy recognition as well? :1orglaugh

I heard canon is supposed to coming out a video camera this year.That takes different lens.

I've been hoping for Canon to come with a video cam like this for a very long time, can't wait, my cock is already leaking forejuices now.
