Americans who want Saddam capped know that there is a lot of support from people in Canada and many other countries. This is a global issue and people who are freedom loving and want stability have to stick together on this.

The folks who are on the left of this issue are not larger in numbers they just yell a lot louder than the rest of us.

Whether people like it or not, Saddam will be dead within the next few months (hopefully weeks) and the world will go on. Then helping rebuild Iraq's infrastructure and helping them with humanitarian needs can start. Next North Korea will have to be dealt with (hopefully peacefully) and so on. Being passive is no longer the answer. The Islamic extremist will own us if we don't crush them now.

OK how is going to IRAQ kicking our a dictator going to ruin the whole world?? I mean they will go over and kick the crap out of IRAQ faster than in the gulf war and then they will give the country to a democracy and the people in IRAQ will once again have a properous country and millions of peoples quality of living will be improved. USA does not conquer and keep countries they turn them into successes.

They invest billions into the countrys, just look at Germany and Japan who were the USA's worst enemy and 50 years on they have nothing but prosperity.

You know what's kind of eerie? I remember seeing a made for tv movie, quite recently but can't remember what it's called.

In the movie the President of the United States was killed I believe, and the vice president takes over. Saddam's son invades kuwait again, and the vice-president-president decides that because of other theatres of operations, they can't fight a conventional war in Iraq at the time. The President announces to the world that if Iraqi soldiers do not immediately withdraw, the united states will drop a nuke on Bagdad.

This big crisis erupts, Iraq appears to have nukes, but it turns out the French sold them dummy nukes just for this occasion. Bagdad gets made crispy and the President delivers a speach that caps off with (and I paraphrase here):

"Today we showed the world that if the safety of our nation or our allies is threatened .. The Unites States has nuculear weapons, and we will us them".

Anyway, I watched that with a bunch of people .. And we cheered. No, we're not Americans.

It's nice to see a Strong USA holding murderers accountable. Americas armed forces deserve all of our thanks, and respect.

Now on to the larger issue at hand:

1) Is this war about oil?
a) last time we fought there Saddam started burning the oil wells/fields. How much do you think would be left?
b) saying this potential war is about oil assumes that we'd occupy Iraq afterward and control all the wells for ourselves. You think the rest of the world is going to just let us become the 100% owner of Iraq? Best that can happen here is we can help put a democratic government in place and buy the oil from them.

2) Does this war prevent the next Hitler from happening?
I think we already know Saddam does horrible things, as do many leaders around this world. But which of those leaders can build nukes and more importantly biochem weapons? Which of them would gladly hand them to terrorists? It isn't just the weapons guys, either... it's the development of the virus strains themselves... one coffee can of Anthrax dumped out over NYC from say the top of the Empire State Building would kill a whole lot of people.
So yeah, maybe he'd never build weapons with the range to launch against distant enemies, but all he has to do is start producing enough biotoxins to hand off to the same fucking whackos that would land a plane in a building.

The biggest question here is how do you determine which "evil" leader(s) are that one that would go too far and you have to stop before it happens and which ones are just a Castro type who keep their evils mostly homegrown...

It's really quite funny when people start debates/discussions about countries, when they can't even spell the name of the country. For your information, <i>Iraq's</i> maximum production capacity is actually lower than Saudi's daily production of oil, and a hell of a lot lower than Saudi's maximum capacity. Not to mention Russia, China, and the United States itself.

There is speculation about the size of Iraq's oil reserves. They havne't been fully explored, and it's thought that they may rival Saudi's reserves, but it's just speculation at this time. Point is, there's no way in fuck they could be exporting 60 percent of the world's oil.

Serious about that. Uday makes Saddam look like Mother Teresa in comparison. I actually think the US is more worried about Uday taking over one day than Saddam himself, and this whole process is to insure that succession doesn't happen.
