Same fucking thing was probably said about blacks being in the military 50+ years ago and look where we are now. 50 years from now people will look back and see everyone who was against gays in the military the same way you would look at someone who said that blacks shouldn't be in the military. So get over yourself and join the 21st century like the rest of the world.

I was in the Army, it will not work to have another men that like men in the shower with you, like they dont have men and ladies take showers.
Gay men next to straight men sleeping in the same area and showing is a problem in the Army.

If you were in the Army you've already showered with a lot of gay men. You've already slept next to them, and depending what you did in the Army chances are you shared a foxhole with a gay man too.

Fifty years ago, they refused to allow blacks to share the same quarters with whites. Integration in the military was huge; Blacks were considered "less than human" and whites refused to train with blacks, eat with blacks, and share quarters with them - very much like our modern day military refuses to accept gays in their ranks now. This too will come to change.

The military was NOT segregated for MANY years before a racist progressive president made it so. Blacks and whites were fighting side by side since the revolutionary war. Blacks were killed in the first shots of the revolutionary war.

"Dont Ask Dont Tell" Was also put into law by a racist and homophobic progressive. Now the progressives are whining about it. :thumbsup

Actually they can be compared as an equal rights under the protection of law issue(14th amendment). And while you think they can't be compared I beg to differ. For many if not most sexual orientation was not a choice much like their race. This is a civil rights issue plain and simple. You can argue against it but almost all the other modern militaries of the world have integrated gays OPENLY into their armed services. The only thing that is holding the US back is good old baseball, apple pie, and homophobia. Mainly the last one.

If I was in the middle of a war I'd want as many people fighting on my side as possible. Black, white, gay, straight I wouldn't care.

At the time Truman integrated black soldiers, the polls done OF THE SOLDIERS ran 80%+ against integration of blacks. 80% against! Truman did it anyway. Was he wrong to go against such a large percentage of the very people he was trying to drag kicking and screaming from the dark ages?

By the way, gay men and women are already in the military taking showers. It's simply a matter of allowing them to be free and equal when they die for their country. There is no monster under the bed. You'll be fine.

Well... let's see. You get off work in the Military, go up and kiss your wife - nobody cares. However if you go home and kiss your boyfriend/girlfriend of the same sex, all the sudden that persons "personal" life is a problem for the Military.

It's not about gays wanting to hold hands, kiss, fuck and claim they are gay at work. But just like the straight people, they want to be able to go home to the person they love, maybe enjoy public events outside of the military (not allowed either) or maybe if one dies/really sick they can actually get permission to see them - unlike now.

That's not really hard to fathom either.

None of you guys been in the Army, no real man want a gay person taken a shower with them. If they keep it under rap cool. But let them come out and see what happens, they will not make it back home. When you go thru basic or AIT you have to take showers with the same sex, they dont remove same sex. So now us straight men got fruit butts in the shower.
