Wine Enthusiasts- I just dropped a bit on this bottle- THOUGHTS???

Is it worth the investment? I was told it's a perfect to cellar and let age for the future. I'm pretty excited

Mr Pheer 03-12-2009 10:53 AM

lol...

In all seriousness, the best wine is the wine that tastes best to YOU.

So if its this cheap 'wine' that you like, then hey its all good.

Brandon99 03-12-2009 10:54 AM

That's pretty good, but i'd rather buy some of this ;)

Someone said be careful that it's not corked, should I be worried?

Night Train, Colt 45, MD 20/20- I don't even mess with those. When I want a beverage that screams high society I reach for Champale.

If you are around in 10 or so years I'll let you know. This is also an investment for the future, I'm going to cellar it and let it age and collect value.

Now be truthful, was it a "bit" or 2 Bits?:Graucho Some of you Playas are too modest:pimp

»Rob Content« 03-12-2009 11:07 AM

This thread is about people who love wine, and not a chance to just post a funny youtube video of bad beer...

I am trying to get real opinions on a good bottle of wine

Just to clarify for you without trying to be a wine snob... :winkwink: ... the French bottle by region, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a small town/province in southern France that produces many world class wines. $35-$100 is the typical entry point for the newer vintages, in good years the lower priced ones are great deals. Vieux Télégraphe is one of the more popular wines from the region and one of my steady favorites. Most of the wines from this region will be mostly from Syrah grapes. :thumbsup

Cheers.

premium manischewitz

Excellent choice, I have one right next to some manischewitz in the cellar.

Try mixing it with some malt liquor(Magnum or Old E) for that extra zip ...

I like the wines of the Paso Robles region in California. You can pick up some superlative reds for $20-$30 a bottle.

Chandon and Taittinger have Napa operations for sparkling wine.

And when I'm feeling adventurous, I head off to Trader Joe's and see what's new.

Pretty sure your bottle might have been, quite possibly, maybe was the #2 overall wine of the year on Wine Spectator's top 100 wines of 2008 list. But I could be wrong. I would buy a few cases and let them age a few days or maybe even a full week before consuming... and be sure to decant for at least an hour before adding ice cubes to it. :thumbsup

minddust 03-12-2009 11:48 AM

you call that wine? more like redish piss.

Cheers.

I bought a couple of bottles of 2006 Vieux Télégraphe last week, for under $70 which is a score since once again they've added VT to some top 100, top 20 or whatever list this year. My go-to CDP used to be La Nerthe, but something has changed and it doesn't do much for me anymore.

Just to clarify for you without trying to be a wine snob...Châteauneuf-du-Pape is mostly grenache.
