What search engine did you use before google become ubiquitous?
 

I used Lycos back in the day.

dogpile was my favorite

maybe Yahoo who remembers

think i used google since it launched

before that altavista

metacrawler in the mid 90s i think.

back in the day depending on what you needed to find you needed to use all the usual suspects.

Alta Vista. They had a stripped down version (can't remember what it was called) that was just a search bar (wonder where Google got that idea?). You could use it instead of going through the whole portal. At that time they were all going to portals to monetize their traffic, so this was a cool option.
