My puppy Rusty attacked by pitbull at the park

He is OK but man my heart is still pounding, poor Rusty was squealing like a wounded pig and his head covered in blood but he is fine now. We were at an offleash park and this fuckwit dog just latched onto Rusty's head. Luckily his woolly coat protected him to a degree. Here is a thread with Rusty's pics.

for doing what dogs do in a place made for it ? :error

if you take a dog to an offleash park with other dogs then you have to accept there will be dog fights.

it would be like going to an "alcohol ok beach" during spring break and wondering why you got into a fight.

punker barbie 07-15-2008 08:47 PM

that fucking sucks.

i just came back from teh doggie park because some jack ass decided to bring his large dogs in the small dog section and ruined it for everyone.

both my dog and i got scared and left after only being there for 30 seconds.

Raym 07-15-2008 08:47 PM

That sucks...I am sorry. As far as the bad pit bull.....just a bad owner.

Have to say I agree, I took Rusty there every day for the past few months and always felt I was playing russian roulette with him and the other dogs. It was my choice to take that risk as I felt it is good for him to hang out and play with the other dogs. Think I'll steer clear now. Just not sure why people have these killing machines....:Oh crap

MandyBlake 07-15-2008 08:48 PM

dog parks are nothing but trouble in my opinion.

NO NO NO... every dog park i have ever been to clearly states that aggressive dogs are not welcome...

a well trained dog will not attack.. fucking white trash comes to these parks with their inbred pit bulls...

i would have beat the fuck out of that guy if i were you... :2 cents:

Kard63 07-15-2008 08:54 PM

zOMG cutest puppy I have seen since I got mine ;)

stickyfingerz 07-15-2008 08:59 PM

I have 2 doggies now and they both play fight, but neither one would ever hurt the other. No need to goto a dog park. Have no interest in having to deal with other people that might not have controled their dog properly. :disgust

Young 07-15-2008 09:15 PM

I'm not a huge dog fan but you're dog is cute. Looks like a stuffed animal. Glad he/she/it is ok.

Anna_Miller 07-15-2008 09:15 PM

That sucks.. glad he is ok. He is adorable!

I had a similiar experience with a doberman pinscher. The dog ended up biting me instead. The owner thought it was funny until Bruce almost tore his head off.

eroticsexxx 07-15-2008 09:17 PM

My girl had to stop taking our Jack Russell/Shih Tzu terrier mix to the park when we first got him because he would spontaneously attack any dog that was bigger than him. (He was a rescue and must have had some bad experiences on the street). Some days he was okay and other days he was like Kimbo Slice on steroids.

During his reign of terror he did kick much pedigree ass, but didn't draw any blood, thankfully.

It all boils down to responsibility, some owners just don't know how to handle their pets.

Pornopat 07-15-2008 09:32 PM

That sounds terrible. I am happy to hear he is ok though.

tony286 07-15-2008 10:08 PM

Dog parks are very dangerous.People let dogs play there that have no business being offleash. Also dog parks cause pack behavior and dogs get seriously hurt.

starpimps 07-15-2008 10:15 PM

wow thats brutal, sorry to hear. Glad that rusty made it out relatively ok

Just my 2 cents.

Hes 8 months and had all his shots...:) Here he is with his little brother Possum.

Scotty.T 07-16-2008 12:51 AM

Sorry to hear about the little fella. Over here Pit Bulls are one of the few breeds that by law must be muzzled and kept on a leash when in a public place. Shame that wasn't the case over there.

heh , thats like saying if there was a sign at a drunk spring break party saying fighting is not allowed , you wouldnt expect fighting , when i think anyone would understand there will prob still be fighting.

a well trained dog will not attack , most dogs are not well trained and i certainly wouldnt assume every dog at a a dog park would be well trained. Infact i would assume they wouldnt be trained. That being said , the master is the one who's actions i would scrutinize. If the dogs owner ignored the dog and let it go apeshit then by all means get mad at the owner. the dog is just being a dog, it can't help not being trained to be something it isn't
. Most animals fight to get a social ranking. dogs included , smarter animals ( kinda ) like us humans have figured out other ways to decide social ranking. Kinda hard to expect to teach a dog something opposite of that he has been trained for thousand of years.

Most normal size dogs enjoy a little fighting/wrestling, i see no harm in it unless one dog is torturing another , then you blame the owner not the dog. Unless of course the dog collar is around the humans neck

papill0n 07-16-2008 01:02 AM

spooky181 - they are a couple of very cute dogs - glad Rusty is ok now!

:thumbsup
p.s. your toothbrush is more likely to kill you than a pitbull.

a coke machine is also more likely to kill you than a pitbull.

almost every meat eating animal is on some level a "killing machine", humans kill alot more people and dogs than dogs do , so really you should be asking your dog why he lets you hang out with hundreds of killing machines :)

Labeling all pitbulls as killers is like labeling all white people as killers, only labeling white people as killers would at least be alot more correct.

dogs are as nasty as their owners, unless its a wild dog then you might have a point , but i dont see many wild pitbulls around my parts .

Basically you took a baby to an all night rave and he got hurt, no suprise, he is a cute dog and i know you meant well but you can prob find better areas to walk him and better friends for dogs. :thumbsup Maybe take your dog on a leash a few times and chat up some of the other owners of nice dogs to get together for a doggie date

TampaToker 07-16-2008 01:28 AM

Sorry to hear about your dog that definitely sucks. Just curious if you are positive it was a pit bull. Alot of people get pitbulls mixed up with other breeds. Glad the little fella is ok :)

viencarl 07-16-2008 01:55 AM

sorry to hear that :(:(:(

fitzmulti 07-16-2008 02:42 AM

That sucks! He's a cute one, for sure!!

im not sure where you go out, but i spent the weekends on a lot of alcohol OK beaches and never been in a fight nor even seen a fight... dogs can be trained NOT to fight, so its not exactly totally normal either.

pornguy 07-16-2008 06:41 AM

Find the owner and beat the shit out of him.

but its not in their nature..:2 cents: and you wouldnt expect every dog at a dog park to be trained and obey against its own natureal instincts

If you brought your dog to a training class sure. Show me any group of large unleashed dogs, toss in a few bitches in heat and i promise you even the most well trained dog will be scrapping shortly.

Boogie Nights 07-16-2008 08:44 AM

I live in a apartment that allows dogs and it seems every other person has a pit bull (exaggerating a little) so I carry a knife with me when walking my dog. I don't know what is up with all the pit bulls. Are they giving them away now or what?

You're dog is just as much of a "killing machine" as that pitbull, so don't start laying the blame on it.

I have a pitbull and a little pocket retarded size dog got to cocky and decided to latch onto her face and rip it up, did she fight back? fuck no... but oh no, wait, shes a pitbull its her fault, shes the "killing machine!" yet its the stupid little dog that did everything and hurt HER.

Scott McD 07-16-2008 08:50 AM

That's terrible.

The owner MUST accept responsability for this.

Get well soon doggy... :(

Ross 07-16-2008 08:55 AM

That dog has my gf weak at the knees! So damn cute. Hope he's doing ok.

As much as I agree that little yappy snappy dogs can bite, the are not killing machines. I havent seen too many news stories lately about a Chihuhaua killing a toddler or another dog. Unlike the daily stories of this happening with Pitbulls.:2 cents:

Ps thanks for all the kind thoughts about Rusty he is going great guns....:thumbsup

_andy_ 07-16-2008 03:30 PM

FUCK Pitbulls. Sure there are bad owners out there, but what about the pit's who DO have good owners? What happens when the nice little pit bull's instincts kick in if he is attacked by another dog? A pit bull has such strong shoulders and jaws that they latch on and don't let go. Often their jaws have to be pried off. They can't help it.

But for people to say that this little dog asked for it is fucking completely assinine.
