Anyone own any propery in Humbolbt County, California

I am growing tired of the south, and the people here, two years too many already.

My target landing, will be to buy me a ranch or something in Humboldt finally.

Anyone?

"Humboldt County is also widely known for its high potency strains of marijuana, which are grown outdoors and increasingly indoors. Large scale "grows" are prosecuted, while others are able to grow under county guidelines for medicinal use under the auspices of California Proposition 215."
I cant imagine why anyone would want to live there, but that is where I aim to call home. ;)

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-29-2008 03:00 PM

I am up north but not Humbolt, but more near Amador County.
This place is not for the weak, it's cold sometimes snows yet the Summers and Springs are awesome.

Everything one could ever want is here except a beach.

Big_Red 01-29-2008 03:01 PM

that funny, i was thinking of heading to the country. that makes a mighty fine place if you ask me. i heard people have it growing in their front yards. thats only hearsay though.

Fletch XXX 01-29-2008 03:01 PM

nice, you got the hell out of LA too?

my wife wants redwood trees in the yard, and i just want to live in Humboldt, so its fairly simple of where we will end up.

Hollywood Horwitz 01-29-2008 03:04 PM

it's amazing there, you should totally move there! post pics!

All the herbs I smoked while in LA was grown by the top medical cannabis growers in Humboldt. Had friends at the university driving it down to me in LA, absolutely the finest medical grade you can get on the planet.

And as legal medical cannabis user, you can grow it outdoors in Humboldt without any risk of being arrested.

DaddyHalbucks 01-29-2008 03:26 PM

Post some pics of Humboldt County.

What does the average house cost?

Jimmy Rock 01-29-2008 03:27 PM

knew some people from there, from what i hear very small comunity

DaddyHalbucks 01-29-2008 03:29 PM

The other big question is taxes. California's are pretty high, aren't they?

Humboldt is definitely one of my dream destinations as well. And yes, it can get pretty damn cold at certain times of the year so be ready for that...as I see you're from southern California like me and used to 50°F as the coldest days. heh

im actually living down south in New Orleans right now, buying house, but yes I lived in So Cal for a decade. San fernando Valley for the win!

Temps get way down in the 30s and 40s here during the winter, so I can deal with the cold as long as it is not year round.

I dont think I could live right on the coast where it is chilly more often like in Eureka, but i definitely want to northern california when I move back.

Average price for home in California is 500k and up I believe (maybe more), so in Humboldt you can easily spend that and up to million dollar homes. Property near the coast costs more, as with any location.

Oh haha I figured you were in LA with all the talk about it. But seriously, be ready for some pretty damn cold days up north in Humboldt. We go up every year around August :) and even in late summer it gets damn cold compared to southern cali...and definitely Nawlins.

small sacrifice for paradise.

after being down here in this hot, humid, putrid swamp, i will kiss the ground as soon as I cross into california on the 1-10 when i drive back.

it gets sooooo hot and humid down here, I will welcome it.

"Been through alot together, havent been in love for a whilllllle, feels really good!"

OMG my side is splitting.

MetaMan 01-29-2008 04:02 PM

yep thats right she loves me for who i am, a real man.

not because i decided to be a whipped little girl and whine about redwoods (you)
whine about some kinda change in my life and become a vegan (you)

take lessons fletch, you need to start teaching your girl some class.
if my woman had half the mouth yours did she would get a swift boot to the ass,

its fine alot of guys let their women walk all over them, but again you are not man enough to step up, it's sad but hey you probably cant do any better.

Fletch XXX 01-29-2008 04:04 PM

You run to GFY to brag when a girl tells you she loves you.

She owned you.

Big Red Machine 01-29-2008 04:13 PM

I was up there for a couple days. The redwood forest is amazing, and the rockie coast looks straight out of the Goonies.

MetaMan 01-29-2008 04:15 PM

wow you have gone soft the best thing you can come up with is giving your girl props for threats she doesnt have the balls(or maybe does) to back up.

exactly! It's paradise on Earth.

The irony? I am down south with multiple palm trees in my yard, pretty, but now I want to buy a second place back in California and live with redwood trees. The irony is outstanding. Cali is known for Palm trees, not New orleans LOL

DaddyHalbucks 01-29-2008 05:58 PM

The redwoods are amazing.

escorpio 01-29-2008 08:10 PM

I haven't been there for a long time but I used to love Garberville. If I were to move to Humboldt that would be the area.

slavdogg 01-29-2008 09:41 PM

some people from literotica.com might be up there...

fuzzylogic 01-29-2008 11:02 PM

HAHA do you expect to purchase 20 to 40 houses? No real acreage though.

Hell if you want some acreage, would a 4 bedroom house on 4.8 acres for under 130k sound?

Now if you expand your area from the town of Humboldt or say Dakota city and go for some of the even smaller areas inside of Humboldt county it gets even cheaper.

Remember even though this is California and near the coast this is the real northern California and prices reflect that. It is nothing at all like middle CA (bay area) or southern CA.

Pnk XXX 01-30-2008 02:55 AM

hmm not sure exactly what you mean, I have been looking at houses there - one that caught my eye was 519k - in a small town in Humboldt.

While I have seen some under 200k, many of the ones that get my attention cost much more than that.

the 130k deal sounds great but really depends on location i guess. I dont want to live in the woods with no internet or near civilization man, but i do want to get away from the city.
