All Leafs Fans: DRAMA

- Pogge called up
- some stooge (dominic moore) claimed off waivers
- Morning practice mysteriously cancelled...

There is ALOT going on with the Leafs right now and none of it is good...

Bryan G 01-11-2008 12:47 PM

Good something needs to change,

WTF was last night?

Martin 01-11-2008 12:50 PM

Desperate times for JFJ.

Mutt 01-11-2008 12:51 PM

there's NO mystery surrounding the Maple Leafs - they are a disaster and have been for the past 40 years. As long as they are owned by pension fund they will never do anything. it's the richest hockey franchise on the entire planet with the world's stupidest fans who allow the shit to continue on generation to generation. they can fire everybody in management and trade all the players, nothing will change if the ownership stays the same.

longbrick 01-11-2008 12:52 PM

They are messed up :Oh crap

They won 2-1 in the 40 minute game... they missed the memo about NHL games being 60 minutes in length and starting in the 1st period, not the second :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

pathetic.

I have a site im working on: mapleleafsboycott.com

Basically.. try and get all season ticket holders to donate their tickets in protest for 1 home game, and then fill the ACC with a bunch of underprivelaged kids from the GTA.

That site is a great idea. Let us know when it's live. I know some people in TV & Radio who'd love to see it.

Brad 01-11-2008 01:05 PM

JFJ needs to be fired. That will help. Then we need to find an owner. The teachers pension is doing fine with their real estate these days.

It doesn't matter WHO they are owned by. The simple fact is that they sell out every game no matter what.

The Leafs had a great team when Gilmour was with them. Unfortunately, they just couldn't get it done back then.

The Leafs will not go far until Sundin is gone. With the salary cap now in place, his high price salary for little return has stumped any growth and talent the Leafs could have built upon.

They also rely too heavily on the shittest european players they can get their hands on... AnDORKpov anyone? Dude gets penalties even when he's not playing.

Raycroft was another mistake. While he had shone in the past, he just hasn't lived up to the hype of his rookie season. Again, if they weren't paying Shitdin so much money, they may have had the money to land one of the best goalies, Luongo.

I always have a soft spot for the guys who are 5'6 - 5'9 .. 150 - 175 lbs (borschevsky, tucker, blake, st. louis, kariya...) since I've always been a smaller guy playing hockey.. I couln't imagine stepping on the ice with the Pronger's / Gill's / Chara's of the NHL and only being 5'9 160lbs... much respect.

I take it Chris is not a Sundin fan.

I personally have defended Sundin to my friends for years and this is why:
He is a very strong player and has a lot of leadership. You won't see many other player be as strong on the puck around the net and certainly not behind it. He is a play maker and a natural goal scorer. There is a reason he is top on the team and in fact one of the only consistently productive members of the leafs this season. He is a good ambassador to the sport and shows he bleeds blue and white which is important in a market like Toronto. The same reasons Darcy Tucker is still a leaf are the reasons Sundin is a leaf, only Sundin has more weapons than a one timer from the side of the net.
That said, I think if they are out of a playoff position come deadline time it is time to leverage one of the only valuable players on the team and get some good young players on the team. Not draft picks that won't be in the NHL for another year or two, guys who are ready to go next year. Kids yes, but ones who are at the NHL level today.
In the end, JFJ will probably send Wellwood somewhere for a 40 year old in the hopes that we can make the playoffs.

WTF? so the reason they suck is because of the ONLY consistantly good player on the team? I cant really think of any other leaf player that has been playing well this entire season.

The leafs problem is not Sundin, its that the rest are mediocre at best.

Brad 01-11-2008 01:36 PM

In other NHL news:

Alex Ovechkin signed a $124 million, 13-year contract extension yesterday with the Washington Capitals.

Holy Shit!

Mutt 01-11-2008 01:41 PM

their prospects are rated very poorly too - with the salary cap there really is little hope for Leafs fans. best thing to do is what Ottawa and Pittsburgh did - bottom right out to the bottom and draft high for 5 years. Leafs did that in the 1980's and STILL fucked it up.

the only thing they can do is hire the best general manager and give him carte blanche to hire the best scouts, coaches. there is no salary cap on what you can spend on management and scouting - which makes having a guy like Ferguson in charge just an incredible insult and fuck you to Leafs fans.

Brian Burke should be given the same deal Colangelo has with the Raptors.

Odie 01-11-2008 01:44 PM

here we go againnnnnnn.........gotta love the leaf drama!!!

I sadly have to say every time I go to a home game THEY LOSE!!! I started to blame myself but I realize now that it's NOT me....IT'S THEM! lol

still, as much as they'll always suck...I bleed Blue and white ....till the day I die...SAD :(http://photos-496.ll.facebook.com/ph...53697_3683.jpg

Exactly!

The Leafs are awesome. From a business stand point at least... they sell out every game, every year, pay little in salaries and the fans don't seem to care. They just keep forking over the dough.

Quagmire 01-11-2008 01:55 PM

What? It's Matts Sudin's fault? The only reason I have left to watch Leaf games? lol..
http://www.sportscity.com/NHL/Toront...Leafs-Salaries

Matts took a pay cut this year to pay for Bryan McCabe..

Look at what the rest of these lemons are getting paid. I agree there is too many europens on the team.. What the leafs need to do is cut some some of these door knobs out. Get some young snipers. Matt Stajan, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Mark Bell, Jason Blake, Pavel Kubina, Andrew Raycroft. They should be shipped. Tank this seaon, and start rebuilding.

Since when has there been anything good going on with the Leafs?

Btw, I just loved watching the Kings manhandle this sad sack group last night. I'm a long-suffering LA fan so I know how Leaf fans feel - but at least my team has some good young talent to build on...

The Leafs have nothing much to look forward to, annually dumping prospects for over-the-hill veterans in a desperate attempt to get a few home dates in the playoffs.
What was it Bob McCown said about Leaf fans? Either the most loyal, or the most stupid? (I'll add, most gullible?)

My mothers friend dated this guy. Apparently he looked like a hemophiliac who had been in a car crash by the end of a game. He had to partake in a nice cold ice bath to keep the bruising and swelling down

http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/8686/daoust1yz6.jpg

As for the leafs. I'd like them to trade Sundin to Anaheim for Edmonton'ss first round pick and a few players. Getting two high lottery picks next year could set this team up nicely for the future; especially if John Tavares is let into the draft.

Is that the game they beat montreal 4-3 on OT or the one they lost in OT on Komisarek's breakaway goal?
