The Ghost 06-27-2007 12:51 PM

Just back from Transformers......

I won't give any spoilers, just a brief points and grade.

Positives:
- I give them credit for trying to pull off making the movie to begin with
- It was a great way to relive my childhood
- There is ALOT of eye candy.. and especially good CGI action

Negatives:
- The movie was caught between trying to cater to both adults and kids. They should of picked one of the other
- The plot was rehashed a bit too much during the movie
- They made Bumble Bee a Camero instead of a VW Bug
- Some of the dialog between the actors was rushed and not mixed well at all
- Running time was too long to tell the story (144 minutes)

At one point I was trying convince myself to like movie for more than it was. Not the best sign of a high caliber film. I know a movie about cars that turn into robots is corny by definition, just felt it could of been done better.

Overall Grade: C+

still can't wait to watch it....

Miss Munki 06-27-2007 12:55 PM

Is it worth seeing in the theater because of the graphics or just rent-worthy?

I think this one's hitting the seeing in theatre for us, even if reviews are bad... We've both been behind the computers too long... :thumbsup

_Richard_ 06-27-2007 01:06 PM

alas.. it sounded like it would be only something like that

thank god for eye candy

tranza 06-27-2007 01:10 PM

WTF is up with all these long ass movies coming out???

Casa Nova 06-27-2007 01:12 PM

I pity anyone who makes movie viewing decisions based on GFY reviews.
Read them, take them with a grain of salt and do what you were going to do regardless and form your own opinions. Otherwise you could miss out.

disclaimer: I'm not saying "The Ghost" is right or wrong in this case, or anything... just saying, this is GFY of all places. Mixed reviews ranging from 0 - 10 on the scales and beyond are common place.

No worries :thumbsup

There's never a right or wrong when it comes to a review, it's only an opinion. If you we're looking forward to seeing the movie before, you should roll with your initial plan.

A positive or negative review shouldn't deter you :)

XTuber 06-27-2007 01:31 PM

Any auto manufacturer who refused rights to this movie is a complete idiot. The brand recognition for the toys will follow the viewers as they grow up. I wanted a Red Truck for eons, and I first learned my brands by the autobot cars!

Dollarmansteve 06-27-2007 02:47 PM

It's a Michael Bay picture, so it's obviously going to have a high degree of suckage.

BAKO 06-27-2007 02:54 PM

I cant wait to see it

MikeVega 06-27-2007 02:59 PM

I'm sure my son will love it and I'll be able to get through it also .. any movie i can take my 9 yr old to and also enjoy on some level is good enough for me.

I am just really easy to entertain actually, I pretty much like most movies, mainly because I don't submerge myself into them....I take them for what they are, cheap entertainment....so, unless it is Gigli or Children Of Men, I usually can enjoy just about anything

Not entirely true ... they did try and get the rights.... it wasn't that VW said no ... it was that VW wanted a LOT of cash ... and they just weren't willing to spend that money on the licence of one character

I thought it was good....nice cheesy chick flick

kapopoy 06-27-2007 06:14 PM

seen it yesterday... and its the most enjoyable movie i've seen so far this year. CGI integration was seamless, the light moments were funny without trying too hard, and the actors were pretty good. i love Michael Bay again.

hearing Optimus' voice again after more than a decade was priceless. sent shivers done my spine. a girl behind me even shrieked. and the dialogue between Optimus Prime and Megatron brought back memories from childhood past - i could imagine them exchanging those lines 20 years ago.

definitely watching this movie again. :thumbsup

be careful when taking the kids to see it. there are some pretty intense sequences, most notably one featuring a super scary, scorpion-style decepticon living in the sand in the Middle East. plus, it's VERY loud. i think my eardrums are still vibrating. (but i gotta admit that it's pretty darn cool when the sound of Transformers transform)

Subtle 06-27-2007 06:28 PM

Oh mixed reviews! Watch it anyway!

It's for that reason that I must have watched this video at least 30 times.
