notabook 07-27-2006 12:07 PM

"smaller is better LOL!" Five years from now mobile devices won't even have keypads in them, instead they will all have projectable keyboards/keypads on a flat surface. Daddy likes.

Ya not much till you carry it through a few airport terminals and whatnot. around 10lbs on a strap on your shoulder. I used to laugh about that too till I started traveling more. :winkwink:

Yeah, Phillips has one or two out there, my cousin helped develop them lol. What really sucks though is he has a huge mouth and that's what eventually got him fired from there :1orglaugh Man that asshole couldn?t keep a secret. Wait. Neither can I. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

Here is an example of the 'shitty' versions they've been talking about for four years:
http://www.alpern.org/weblog/stories...Keyboards.html

Pretty sure Phillips will blow that out of the water.

majorbitch 07-27-2006 12:12 PM

That's awesome. I wish it was in white rather than a dull gray color.

My sons pediatrician actually have the nicest portable. It's the coolest thing I've ever seen and we are usually more interested in that than our kids health when we go there. : )

WWC-Pajio 07-27-2006 12:24 PM

Not quite yet. The ones I'm talking about are going to be built directly into the unit itself, you won't have to carry anything extra with you, though I wouldn't mind playing around with that one, looks neat! Phillips has been working on their version for at least five years now, dunno whose products are going to be including them first. What I really can't wait for is a mouse/keyboard combo that works with the same principle... can you imagine how little devices could get? They would be all fucking screen, no cumbersome keyboards or mice hahaha.

carol.prime 07-27-2006 12:30 PM

How much is that by the way?

Ace_luffy 07-27-2006 12:37 PM

i didn't use to had that.....

Ahh very cool. They are also working on putting tiny projectors on PDA's/Phones that can project a display onto any flat surface... imagine that.. the projector keyboard and a nice PC sized projected display all from your phone.

WebairGerard 07-27-2006 01:03 PM

very nice. laptops will portable in house desktops soon. These will eventually be all people use on trips, etc.

All that is old news, they have chips out they can put in your brain and do it all right in your head no keyboard, mouse or screen needed!

Soon the machine will take over! We will be just batteries!

sh33p 07-27-2006 01:44 PM

I've got an Axim X50V that has a lot of that shit on it already. Minus the keyboard.

Rick Latona 07-27-2006 01:45 PM

Anyone know of a Linux or Apple version of the same thing?

I disagree
Sounds cool, but typing on a hard table surface doesn't appeal to me. People want the feel of a keyboard/pushing a button. I gurantee it :)

reynold 07-27-2006 06:54 PM

Exactly why I don't have plans of buying that... :upsidedow

tony286 07-27-2006 07:01 PM

too expensive, for that price you can get a pretty small viao thats kick ass.
