Just interested in knowing how much everybodies wedding costed :thumbsup

After Shock Media 02-25-2006 06:06 PM

None, have not gotten married yet.

StickyGreen 02-25-2006 06:07 PM

i won't even be trying to worry about that for at least like 7 more years...

Furious_Female 02-25-2006 06:10 PM

Our wedding is going to be around $20k for 30 people. Small guest list due to inter state travel restrictions within the families :disgust

RRRED 02-25-2006 06:12 PM

Mine was like $35 at The little white chapel's drive thru in Vegas.. and that's actually true. Not to be funny :)

chase 02-25-2006 06:14 PM

Mine was less than $50, I think, lol. Courthouse wedding. It cost more to get divorced then it did to get married.

Jman 02-25-2006 06:14 PM

cost me way less then my divorce

sonofsam 02-25-2006 06:14 PM

yah.. you're kinda screwed man... cause usually the brides father pays for the wedding...

and you know... since you're.... you know....

haha jk :1orglaugh

Ray@TastyDollars 02-25-2006 06:16 PM

Got married in 96 at the Vogue on Des Grand Prairies (St.Leo), we were 375 people sitting and 50 more came after the meal. Cost us a little over 35K but we Italians always bring "envelopes" so the party paid it self and I came out about 10K on top.

Ray

EDIT: Thats just the reception. Dont forget to add the video, pictures, limo's, church, tux(s), honeymoon, etc

buddyjuf 02-25-2006 06:18 PM

Is it true that the brides father usually pays the wedding?

$5 submissions 02-25-2006 06:18 PM

I got married twice to my wife. Once in the US (where most of my family is)($5K) and a second time (cuz most of her relatives are here) here in the Philippines ($10K).

broke 02-25-2006 06:18 PM

Cost me nothing... cost my wife's parents ~16K, though.

The wife and I ended up 15K ahead when it was all said and done.

:winkwink:

slapass 02-25-2006 06:19 PM

28k but it did not go through. Did make one hell of a "lets get drunk" party though.

:thumbsup

Are you paying to get them to come or something?

It depends on the culture. In the US, it's mostly the bride's parents that pay for the wedding. In the Philippines, it's usually the groom's parents that pay for the wedding. I paid for both my weddings LOL :1orglaugh

baddog 02-25-2006 06:19 PM

oh, and I doubt that I spent more than a grand between the two of them

polish_aristocrat 02-25-2006 06:21 PM

if you gonna marry a girl working in McDonalds, then dont expect her father to pay for a wedding with limos and stuff, lol

DaddyHalbucks 02-25-2006 06:26 PM

My first wedding was a biggie and cost $25k. The bride paid.

My second wedding (in Vegas) cost $2.5k. I paid.

The first wedding was beautiful, but the second was more fun.

mrthumbs 02-25-2006 06:26 PM

approx $100k

No, although I'm sure they aren't above bribes. Just a frivelous Disney World novelty wedding. $2500 for characters, $2000 for a carriage ride etc.

That was tradition but not many people I find are doing this anymore.

I hear ya loud and clear on that one lol, I LOVED those envelopes so much I left with them, when my ex and I were leaving the reception hehe ;o) I also left with a big basket full of cash from our dollar dance too (not really a dollar per dance, more like 10 or 50 if you're an Italian LOL).

If you've never heard of that tradition (I think it's polish), but anyway the bride and groom get up on the dance floor and people line up to dance with them, but they pay you to do it. Back in the day a dollar was alot of money, so they figured this was a nice way to build a nest egg for the bride and groom to have some cash to start up with. Most weddings that I've been to usually you get $5 per dance and it's not a full song obviously because it'd take all night lol if you're family is like the size of an Italians LOL (whic includes your 5th cousins 4 times removed hehehe;) and you can usually walk away with some nice coin!

500 pounds including the dress. Mom made the great cake, friend owned a pub and let us have the reception there.

We wanted a marriage and not a wedding. If I ever do it again I want it the same way.

phogirl69 02-25-2006 07:12 PM

Bride's father pay for the wedding :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

My father didn't even pay child support when I was a kid so I'm not holding my breath for him to pay for my wedding, that will be the day...
:1orglaugh

If I wanted a fancy, expensive wedding I would pay for it MYSELF, I don't expect my parents or my boyfriend or his parents ( they would never pay :1orglaugh ) to pay, just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I expect my family to pay for things for me, if I wanted a big wedding I would plan for it the way I wanted it, and probably pay for most of it myself and have my bf pitch in wherever he could, but I make more than him, so I probably would end up paying for more, which I don't mind.

Me and my bf are not the most sociable people, we don't like big gatherings and big fanfare. If we ever get married I think we'll elope somewhere and do it just the two of us without anyone there.

But whatever thing I want in life, I'll pay for it myself, I'm not holding my breath for anyone to pay anything for me. Actually I have A LOT of pride in always paying for myself, I've always paid my own way and don't expect ANYONE to pay for ANYTHING for me.

If I can't afford something I just won't get it/do it, no one needs to pay for ANYTHING for me, I'll live fine just without it.

I love your attitude, there's not many females in this world with your mindset. Keep it up! You're going to get very far in life.

Sure there are...

It's just that they normally wear combat boots and want to cut off your penis.

Syl 02-25-2006 07:28 PM

We got married in Vegas last year and it was fairly cheap, only about $1500.

About $800. We wanted to buy a ranch so we didn't spend much on the wedding. It was a cool little ceremony by the ocean though

Jer 02-25-2006 07:38 PM

About $35 for our wedding and a friend paid it.

This doesn't include the dress and my suit, but they were cheap and look great. It's a nice and simple designer dress that was on sale.

... but my parents spent thousands to come to Fortaleza from Sao Paulo.

The almighty 'busta' heheheh

My first wedding costed about as much and the gifts were more than enough to cover expenses.

The second marriage was more intimate and rather than having everyone travel, we had three wedding parties in three different cities in Italy. We got to enjoy our family & friends more and savour the delicious food of the regions.

pornguy 02-25-2006 07:55 PM

First wife and I had the full blown deal. From start to finish, the wedding was a little over 50k.

the second wife we got married anf had the reception for about 300$

KRL 02-25-2006 07:58 PM

Weddings are a ridiculous waste of money and time. So fucking stupid.

I can't even listen to another "Til death us do part" line of bullshit.

Its a total joke, and I've been there twice.

lol same here!!! hell, i didnt even speak to my father till i was 16 yrs old.

anyways, the AVERAGE wedding costs around $25,000. Of course, that can easily be brought down to around $10 g's and you can have a fairly decent wedding and reception :)

-wedding dress under $300
-free grooms tux w/ rentals of groomsmem tuxs (most places)
-do the decorations yourself
-do the invitations yourself
-rent a nice luxary car instead of a limo
-buffet dinner is ALOT cheaper than a chicken/steak dinner
-free beer but not liquor (instead of full bar)

Theres no reason to spend more than $20 g's on ONE day for ANYTHING lol Make it nice, make it rememberable, make it affordable. The LAST thing you want is a $20,000+ debt going into a marriage. :2 cents:

mikeyddddd 02-25-2006 08:46 PM

The wedding itself cost less than $100 at The Little Chapel of Flowers in Vegas. The travel costs and everything associated with it was less than $2k.

But, the divorce was a hell of a lot more.

Just_Dave 02-25-2006 08:49 PM

my wedding cost over 45k we had over 350 guest
