Hello I don't know if any of you have read about my situation on GFY or not but my husband lost his job about 5-6 months ago after getting his tools stolen.

He was a mechanic on army tanks because when he got out of the army that was the best job he found since he had experience. Well after his tools got stolen it was just an excuse to let him go anyway as they were already letting people go. It forced me to become a webmaster full time but I'm still not really making enough sometimes we can barely afford the basics if we are lucky. It's been a bad year for us. I've managed to get the kids a few things for christmas so that's been lucky thanks to some friends.

So here's what I would like to do. I am trying to find a way to get my husband some tools. Our credit is shot after his losing his job and not being able to pay our bills on time so I can't just go down to the hardwore store and get a credit account. I can't tell you how many times he's been turned down for a job solely because of the tools. The last straw was a few days ago when the big tough bastard came home crying. I've never seen the big lug cry before. He's a huge guy, tats and tough. Not the kind you see cry.

So anyway, here's what I like to do. If any of you guys have tools to spare that you don't use anymore, can you please contact me on icq 20402228 OR if you would help by sending money to epass so I can get him some at the sears or wal mart so he can GET a job. My epass is [email protected].

I don't know if there is anything you guys can do, but I need to get my husband some tools so he can get a job. Things have gotten pretty bad around here and it's getting worse month to month.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in helping make a man down on his luck a man with a job and some tools in his hands again.

I know GFY is a rough board, and I may get reamed for this, but I'm hoping since it's christmas time there may be some people out there who may be in the xmas spirit.

I figure since contests and free money is so popular on here, perhaps something going for a good cause will be better :-)

what kind of tools exactly ?

Well wratchets, sockets, air tools...he really could use tools to work on large engines like diesels and army vehicles. But he can work on cars too so those sorts of tools would be fine too.

I don't think we can be picky. He can probably get a job at a regular mechanic shop working on cars too, doesn't have to be diesel .

If he lost his tools 5 months ago.. why the hell doesnt he take a job (that doesnt require tools) for a week somewhere and make that money back for the tools. A paper route will pay at least $500 for a months work.. and that is only a couple hours a day.

hell my financial situation is so fucking bad I puke every day I get up just to relieve the anxiety of working every day 20 hours a day till I am caught up..or die of exhaustion.

5 months is almost half a year..put a boot in the big lugs ass and tell him to drop the pride shit and get a fucking job anywhere if only just to get the money for tools.

Call me crazy, but there's tons of places that will hire him if he qualifies.
Not all of them require you to have your own tools. There's tons of body shops all over the place. They usually supply the needed tools. Why doesnt he get into something like that?

I'm not bashing you, but it seems that your hisband is not doing all that he can.

It's really easy to judge until you've walked in his shoes.

He doesn't really have the skills to do anything else if you really want to know, he's only 24 and he was in the army from the time he got out of high school.

The only job that people will even talk to him for is a mechanic. He has applied for other things as well, but to no avail.

Perhaps if you have a problem with him not being able to find any other type of job, you will move to Houston and hire him yourself?

At least with the tools the people that have turned him down will probably give him a chance. And NO they won't give him a shot without tools. At least, not around here.

Sorry if my post is out of place, what you make is none of my business. But I can't help but wonder if you make $890 on a good day you have to be pulling AT LEAST $300-400 on an average day... I think that would be enough to buy tools...

I have no idea how much tools cost maybe their like 20k and maybe you also have tons of huge bills too, I don't know so I can't say, but it seems like you're not doing too bad...

That is almost 8-9 times what I usually make in one day.

fast food jobs and paper routes are always available ..EVEN IF ITS ONLY FOR A MONTH .

three weeks ago you were bragging aobut a $890 day..blah. Skip the mortgage a month and buy the tools.. my mortgage is two months behind..car payment two months behind.. electrcity is alway in the red..my hubbys company was bought by others at the beginning of 2005 and he lost $4 an hour..all benefits, eva's and bonuses, lost all overtime..so basically his pay has been cut by 40%..what fucking x-mas? I am feeling no pity for able bodied men that cant swallow their pride and do something they dont want to do to help support their family to the point their wife is on GFY asking for money to buy him tools..

Less excuses and more action will make the world a whole lot better place to be.

Thanks everyone who was kind enough to help us out. I have enough to get him some of the air tools he needs and some of the other mechanic tools for christmas definitely and will be a great start to helping him find a new job ! Karma comes around so next year if we are doing well I want to do this for someone else who needs it at holiday time. Bless you all .

You've been in this business long enough that you should either be making it or looking for something else to do. What gives? I can see your frustration but taking it out on adultchica isn't the way to handle it.
