Mansion Productions Statement

Please Note:

Mansion Productions Terminates License of MPA3 Software for Misconduct

Thursday, October 27, 2005 Los Angeles, CA?Mansion Productions, whose suite of software products have streamlined pay site administration for webmasters the world over, has issued a notice of termination to a user of its popular MPA3 affiliate software.

The user was found to have altered MPA3?s source code. According to top Mansion Productions officer, ?We discovered that a certain affiliate program had deployed an unauthorized module that seriously tampered with Mansion's own code?.

These changes could have potentially affected the integrity of affiliate data. The officer added, ?We wanted to nip this in the bud to prevent any further abuse of our product to potentially create inaccurate affiliate data?.

Mansion Productions has zero tolerance for this type of activity, and has engaged counsel to take appropriate action.

Does this mean a company was caught shaving?

WiredGuy 10-27-2005 05:32 PM

So let's see who makes a very quick change from MPA3 to an alternate product in the next few days...
WG

TMM_John 10-27-2005 05:35 PM

woj 10-27-2005 05:39 PM

Mutt 10-27-2005 05:42 PM

what a useless announcement unless you name the program - raises suspicion that this is just a bogus marketing gimmick and there is no program that was caught.

Manowar 10-27-2005 05:44 PM

say who it was???

tony286 10-27-2005 05:47 PM

Everytime this happens(shaving) how can you guys be shocked. When you look at the commisions offered and the prizes offered. You should be surprised when it doesnt happen lol

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-27-2005 05:54 PM

I concur. Unless of course counsel has advised them not to name names yet. Because this involves Mansion's intellectual property being modified, this may be the case... but damn, we have to know.

je_rome 10-27-2005 06:36 PM

Would you care to tell us the name of the program so that we could understand better?

Just Mike 10-27-2005 06:44 PM

In my opinion it would seem natural that Mansions counsel would have advised them not to name names...It would obviously have a major impact on the alleged program.

This is huge! But My hats off to Mansion for taking action and showing they are serious about issues like these.

In my opinion, It shows alot of integrity on the part of Mansion.

TheMob 10-27-2005 06:45 PM

Except that in the absence of a name, the statement doesn't mean any more than would a general statement of intent. If you take it at face value, you probably like Mansion already. If you aren't a fan, as this statement stands, it isn't likely to change anything.

And while several seem to be assuming it shows that Mansion are now anti-shave, although the statement is specific that the module "seriously tampered with Mansion's own code", it only says that it "potentially affected the integrity of affiliate data". That may mean what some believe, but it is hardly unequivocal.

Blazing 10-27-2005 10:08 PM

Well.. its certainly not Blazingbucks!!

We love MPA.. and sticking with it!!!

Exactly what I thought ... they had shave built in in 2.0 ... now they are trying a clean approach ... and start a bullshit thread ?

Sorry, Mike, I disagree to an extent. That is, I am sure that if counsel advised to not name names, it most certainly would not have approved of this thread in the first place.

Manowar 10-28-2005 01:47 AM

wtf? still no names?

devilspost 10-28-2005 04:31 AM

Creative spam :2 cents:

Additionally, in absence of a name, this can simply be creative advertising. Since no name is named, the abovementioned need not have happened. In my book it's a smart move on boosting goodwill points. No one can verify whether it happened or not.

oyvind 10-28-2005 04:39 AM

way to go!

I am pretty sure that Mansion have never done something like this without talking to their lawyers first. Fore sure I wouldn't. One thing is to kill their program and all their income, another thing is to post the company name on the boards!

I take off my hat for the Mansion team for their actions. They have showed that they have learned their lesson AND that they mean business!

Alter with the MPA3 code and they close you down! That's what I like to hear :thumbsup

DamageX 10-28-2005 04:41 AM

Oh, and "tampering" with the code could also mean that someone actually tried improving something they weren't happy with, if Mansion couldn't be bothered fixing it. Lots of ways you can interpret this, obviously they've chosen to try using it to their advantage. Personally, I call bullshit.

Rui 10-28-2005 05:53 AM

Is it just me or is a very important part in this "left out"?

Dirty F 10-28-2005 05:56 AM

Another useless thread.

OY 10-28-2005 09:44 AM

I will repost this announcement a little later with some more information about what has happened. This is as real as it gets and with huge implications for the other party. They were doing many many thousands of joins a month, so not a small fish.
