If you ran GFY what would you do?
 

What are some of the things you would do to make it better or change it up a bit?

I might make it possible for people to give thumbs up or down on people's posts, and then have that number reflected under the person's name. So if you're the type of person who always posts crap, you might have -387, but if you post good stuff, you might have +5428

i would invite any posters with 19k+ posts to hang with me and hef at the playboy mansion :thumbsup

or how ebay members have points that help others understand whether they're a quality member or a scammer

not sure if it is! Could cause a war. Many people (without mentioning names) would give thumbs down to every post that their "enemy" would make! Its to much "hate" on this board...

to expand on the brisk idea, the overall score by the poster could determine page placement.

if a poster with a -385 posts something, it goes right to the bottom half of the page.



Plus I would be a banning fool. Maybe once your score get too a point like -1000 the name gets banned.

I would put an end to those bastardly fake nicks... they are like herpes, they can be controlled but they never go away.

That definitely wouldn't work as has already been posted. Great in theory, but those with board stalkers would be outta here in less than a day.

I would implement a newbie forum and they wouldn't be able to get access to the MAIN forum until they proved their worth to the masses. Either by vote, or give them a probation period. Something along those lines.

You could make it so that there was a maximum number of positive or negative votes from one user to another.

For example, if I just really didn't like you, I could only vote thumbs down on you a maximum of 10 times, any more than that just wouldn't be counted.

However, some eBay functionality would be cool. People could rate eachother on a business transaction. Positive and negative points would make sense and keep people from dealing with shitheads.

Yup, the ebay score thing gives strangers the confidence to do business together.

I can't take credit for the idea, I've just seen similar things on other forums and thought it was good. Plus we've all seen how it works with the eBay feedback scores or the Amazon.com user reviews. GFY could use a system of rewarding the quality posters and punishing the idiots.

How would Brisk's idea work against all the ignorance?... Say for example I want to post something about NakedSword all of sudden all the homophobes could give me a thumbs down cause they don't want to read about gay sites or whatever
