I've thought about this in the past, don't ask me why.

If someone held a gun to my head and one other family member and told me to choose, I don't know that I wouldn't choose them.

Not to be selfish, but I don't think I'd want them to live with the memory of someone blowing my brains out. What would be worse? Immediate death or a life long memory of watching someone you love being killed? I think the latter would be worse honestly and I don't think I'd want anyone I love to have to go through that.

Brutal thought that I'm glad I'll never have to experience.

Note-If it was a calculated decision based on our health or something more emotional than distressful (see above), where you could say goodbye etc, then yes I would give my life for my wife or kids in a second.
