Overweight and Almost 21 Years Old! (pics)

Okay... so it goes something like this:

I currently weigh-in at a massive (fat/chubby/whatever) 247lbs, and stand about 6'2" tall. Thank God for some height.

Anyway, that being said, I turn 21 on July 31st (less than a week)... and I want this next year to be the year I turn my life around... both physically as well as financially.

My goal is to lose/replace the fat with muscle.

Wish me luck! I would love nothing more than to be able to come back here and post before/after pictures of my upcoming success to help encourage other fatties online to get off their asses and into shape.

If you are overweight and want to have a drug-free weightloss (contest) competition, please hit me up on ICQ and maybe we can work something out. My goal is to be in the best shape of my life by this Xmas '05.

not quite, it's usually not about quantity.. it's about quality.

eat at least 5 times a day (preferably 6-7 to get your metabolism up) smaller portioned meals of course.. cut down on any routine consumption of junk foods... increase consumption of natural healthy foods (fruits / veges)

add that along with a workout routine consisting of both weight training (this will help you lose fat, muscle burns fat) - and cardio.

that's all you need to do.

BIGTYMER 07-24-2005 10:08 PM

Stop eating McCrap.

its not about how much you eat... its about WHAT you eat. stay away from sugars (in any form), eat loads of vegetables & good meats (seafood, lean pork), drink lots of water & get yourself an hour or 2 of excercise a day. its that easy. :2 cents:

...

A guy could be 6"2 250 and look very good ... all depends of the shape of the body.

I got some fat on myself but I'm built like a football player... some people I meet think I'm all muscle sometimes ... I started working out a little and it helped things out ;)

i tried all of that for 4 months & gained 20 lbs LOL fuck that shit!
i guess some bodys are just different. in my family, we dont have ONE skinny person, we're all bigger/fat. when i was 16-thru-22 yrs old, i was very much in shape, great body, etc etc now at age 24, my metabolism pretty much shut off. nothing i do, gets it back up.

my only way i've seen so far to lose weight? 2 meals a day, small meals & no sugar. oh, and i drink 5 cups of green tea everyday to keep toxins out of my body.

everybodys genes are different. :2 cents:

The first thing that you should have is determination. You have to be able to stick to your goal and you can't give up. If you are that dedicated the time it took you to do it doesn't matter as long as you kedep on doing it. Good luck!

Sosa 07-24-2005 10:58 PM

good luck with it all.

I've heard a ton of people say VERY similar stuff. And imo, they have all been wrong... When I actually talked to them about their diet, it was pretty horrid simply because they didn't know any better. But they wouldn't bother to take my advice and clean up their diet plus put in some exercise because it was too much work... and eating a bag of rice crackers in between their 2 little meals (microwaved lean cuisines and such) a day was wayyy easier to accomplish then to actually plan out meals and cook decent food for themselves.

If you are eating 2 SMALL meals a day and losing weight, I'd be willing to bet money a LARGE % of your weight loss is muscle, and who wants to be skinnyfat?

Well, who besides japanese girls :)

Just my opinion... I have a bunch of friends that call me obsessed cuz I plan meals and workout now... and they all use the same excuse - My GENES are different then yours - like all my hardwork means shit and I have good genetics and they have crap genetics. Gimmie a break. What's even funnier is if people could see the rest of my family and realise not one of us is in great shape.

FireFoz 07-25-2005 12:29 AM

lose the cookies and fat food, those are no good

tristan_D 07-25-2005 12:58 AM

reynold 07-25-2005 01:52 AM

get into exercise. Avoid Fatty and salty food; you are in deep danger of experiencing Cardiac arrest, stroke and other heart related ailment.
Scared? IT'S TRUE!

Rich 07-25-2005 02:09 AM

Good luck dude.

Try this; for two to three months strait, eat nothing but grilled chicken breasts (with whatever barbecue/hot sauces you like), orange juice, and water. Don't eat or drink anything else at all, including any kinds of beer or alcohol. It's a major sacrifice but as long as you do it perfectly, without breaking down and eating anything else once, you'll loose 40-50 pounds. During this time do as many push-ups and sit-ups as you can at home, and go for walks or jogs. If you live in an apartment building or work in a high rise office building, take the stairs as much as possible. After you drop the weight start eating a balanced diet including a good breakfast, and start working out, and you'll build up your muscle mass. You're young, your body can take that kind of drastic change. Keep in mind I'm not a doctor, but a couple of my friends have done this exact thing and it's worked wonders.

This doesn't sound healthy at all. I dont think its good to eat the same food over and over..

1: Just learn how much calories you need and how much calories the food you're going to eat got.

2: Dont eat more than ~2000/day.

exactly. loosing weight has nothing to do with eating nothing but one product. its about re-arranging your way of eating for life, not for 3 months, youll fall back twice as hard. its been stated here many times before:

- not eating after 9pm
- gallon a water a day
- excercise
- take care of your calories yes, 2k-2,5k max a day
- make sure youll stick to this, ive seen ppl loose weight like this like 30-40 pounds so that can be done.

good luck!

I didn't say it was healthy, I said it was a way to drop a lot of weight extremely fast. He's only 21, chances are he won't die. Like I said I'm not a doctor...

I sincerely wish you much luck! Find a exercise program that's right for YOU so that you don't hurt yourself right out of the 'starting gate', and keep in mind that your body WILL acclimate to the nutritional changes. Nothing good comes easy, but you CAN do this if you really want it! :thumbsup

Nicky 07-25-2005 03:59 AM

start taking a 30min walk every day and eat less portions and you are well on your way to burn massive amounts of fat, add 3-4 days a week of weightlifting to that and things will happen :thumbsup

suesheboy 07-25-2005 04:10 AM

5'10" 236 and a month ago I started eating way more veggies, no poatato chips and walk 1-1/2 hours a day.

In one month I lost 17 lbs. I feel great!

chupachups 07-25-2005 04:14 AM

Lost like 7 (~14lbs)kilos the last 5 weeks, just by eating less crap - chicken, salad, tuna, wok etc. Try it, not hard at all! :thumbsup

Vitasoy 07-25-2005 04:19 AM

All the best man, you can do it.

Video-Post 07-25-2005 04:49 AM

Good luck, I hope you succeed. One thing you need to keep in mind though is that you cannot turn fat into muscles. Fatty tissue is a layer above the muscles where energy is stored. You first need to get rid of that energy storage (cardio, endurance training, diet), then you can think about adding some muscles by doing weight training. I don't think it's necessary though. Problem with muscles is they disappear once you stop working out. A good shape stays if you continue to eat healthy (change you lifestyle instead of going on a diet).

....check out the before and after. A great lifestyle change program.

Sharky 07-25-2005 07:02 AM

I'll tell you a secret my personal trainer told me long ago.

How much do you want to weigh?
My guess is 200lbs. add a "0" to the end and you have the amount of calories you can eat on a daily basis.

2000 Calories and you will eventually reach your target weight. Now, if you want to get there faster, eat even less calories, say 1750, and combine with a good cardio program. I lost just about 70lbs in 5 1/2 months by doing this.

Now keep in mind it is a lifestyle change. If you go back to your old ways, you will gain it back.

I did.

Paco, of Large Cash. 07-25-2005 07:24 AM

First and foremost, get off your ass! No TV, movies and hangin around the house. Get out and doing something physical, everyday, for a minimum of two-hours! I suggest power walking or jogging (but due to your weight, and lack of muscle, you'll most likely develop knee problems). Do not sit in front of the PC all the time (don?t use that bullshit response, I need to make money).

Walk, do not drive. If you must drive, chose the furthest parking stall. Make your own lunch.

Second, stop eating shit food - no fast or overly fatty foods! Reduce your sugar intake (NO POP -- Diet or not, it?s serious crap!) Stop eating foods with empty calories.

Stop gorging (eating until your full and beyond).

Watch your caloric intake!
