Best car for under 20k?

Finally shopping for a new car, and this time i'm gonna go get a brand new one :)

Anyways, just checking it out, seeing what I like. I have come up with a couple I like so far...I mainly want a car that is going to last me a while and is easy to drive long distances with.

1. Hyundai Tiburon
2. Chevrolet Cavalier
3. Pontiac Sunfire

Am I going in the right direction? Anyone have any recommends? I would appreciate it :)

KMR Stitch 03-20-2005 09:24 PM

You should be able to get all those cars for under 5k in 3 years ;-)

Illicit 03-20-2005 09:24 PM

Scion tC looks pretty good, I think its under 20k

Honda Civic is nice too

Morgan 03-20-2005 09:24 PM

get a used car at that price.

at least with only a couple thousand miles on it. you will save like 7k

pornguy 03-20-2005 09:25 PM

If you want something that will last you a while, and you drive a lot. Take a look that the subaru. I have a friend that has one with 400k miles on it. Regular oil changes, and spark plugs. and changes the belts.

Look at a car a couple years old , we got a sable two years old with 30 k on it. It was all leather ,all power and saved alot of money. Also got the extended ford warranty. A little used you get alot more car for your money.

Babagirls 03-20-2005 09:25 PM

Honda Civic=for best/most mileage out of a car
Chevy Cav=great car, great on gas, cheap & easy as hell to fix on too.

i'd go with one of those 2 cars.

Morgan 03-20-2005 09:27 PM

ahhh.... 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, a classic, very limited. very fast.

holds its value unlike these new cars, it will be worth 20k in 5 years still.

AWD, HUGE V6, TURBO!!!! what more can you ask for??

I just sold Syclone #1284 not too long ago. I miss it dearly... thinking of picking another Sy/Ty up soon.

Not too many out there.

Brujah 03-20-2005 09:31 PM

Tiburon isn't a bad buy, get it a year old or less instead to save on the final price too. The warranties are great, and the car looks like it costs much more.

The Scion looks nice, though I don't know anyone who owns one. Would really like to see how it runs long-term.

The Civic was also in my top 5 :)

Kevsh 03-20-2005 09:33 PM

Go with the Cavalier, though you may have trouble spotting yours in a busy parking lot ...

Heh, that car is HUUGE!

Most of the time it'll be me driving it...I dont think I need that big of a car :P

milkit 03-20-2005 09:36 PM

scion tc. literally best car for under 20k. and its gonna retain value like a beotch. plus, they are loaded with features, and pretty cool. 160hp. handles nice. feels solid.

either that, or a civic. dont waste your $$ on the 3 shitboxes you listed :)

mx8829 03-20-2005 09:36 PM

When you buy a brand new car , the momement you drive out of the lot you lose atleast 3 or 4k. Best is buy a vehicle with low milaege , say 10k miles :) you will safe a bunch.

I will root for honda ( I had one which I put over 190k miles ) subaru also good.
Avoid VW at all cost, my chick harassed me to get her a VW , and we have to get rid of it in a year. Volvo's are good to , its just it cost a bit when it comes to insurance and maintenance

the drivetrain in the TC is a camry engine/tranny. so, its a proven combo. Runs good and lasts a billion miles.

and no, i dont have a TC. but i almost bought one. just couldnt take that over a 350z tho :)

Yeah, most definately. Isnt the right mileage is 10-15k a year?

2HousePlague 03-20-2005 09:47 PM

Toyota Carolla's are like 14k new and pretty reliable and easy on gas.

Spunky 03-20-2005 09:49 PM

I would go for the Caviler

Morgan 03-20-2005 09:49 PM

easy on gas??? u guys all make easy cash, what are you so worried about? why not just get a vespa?

I think every car on the road needs to have 300HP+ and guzzle gas like a cum thirsty cheerleader guzzling thick juicy jizz loads!

Bobby363 03-20-2005 09:52 PM

Bought the wife a Scion XB and she loves it.. good ride for 15k

I think the Scion... I heard toyota was basically selling the thing at cost just to go after the aftermarket crowd

broke 03-20-2005 10:13 PM

I'd go for the Cavalier. It's a fine little car that should last for a long time.

Zoe_Zoebaboe 03-20-2005 10:30 PM

Ooh, nice cars :)
