Most affiliate managers suck

Makes me wonder if most affiliate managers are webmasters who didn't succeed and went for a more steady income instead. Mostly they just spam you with a new site or so (always converting madly) but when you ask a more complicated question they can't look up in their Q and A you're left in the dark.

Really i think this business lacks professionalism when it comes down to account management. Getting a partner to sign up is just the first and easiest step.

(advice: answer emails within 24 hours on workdays no excuses).

Mefo 12-01-2004 07:48 AM

jup, there are only a few programs out there that actually respond to my emails in a day or 2

justsexxx 12-01-2004 07:48 AM

I agree. Most just spam the ICQ list every time a new site is launched. That's about it.

When you ask for XXXX they say, sure np, and after weeks nothing...

I agree with this, our program will answer support emails within a few hours, even on every holiday day.

In simpletraffic affiliate program we respond inmediately if its in business hours to webmasters inquiries!

JamesK2 12-01-2004 07:59 AM

TCG and SexSearch staff has always been very helpful to me. I agree there are some very shitty affiliate managers. It's really bad.

Yeah i figured that much that is why i never announce a new site and don't bother about spamming people to promote me,

i'll get my own traffic and rely on the shit i send myself. Then if people want to promote me that's just icing on the cake.

fris 12-01-2004 08:02 AM

i keep close contact with my sales rep always on icq, its a lot better that way. not email if i need something. keeping close contact is much better, they are always there if you need them.

:)

establish a relationship with them.

Peaches 12-01-2004 08:06 AM

I answer all my emails w/in 24 hours :) And if I don't know the answer, I'll find it for you. :thumbsup

Sure that can work. But it's sort of the other way round.

that's unfortunate. I rarely take more than an hour to respond to an email... it flashes when I get any new emails after I check them when I get in.

In defense of affiliate managers, some have 2,000 webmasters they're working with so sometimes it's hard to answer a question that you should be able to figure out yourself... like the "How do I get no popup codes for FHG links?" and you answer 50 of those a day... when the link is right next to the regular FHG link lol

24/7 Baby :thumbsup worldwide webmaster support. Se habla espaņol and about 15 other languages as well.

sean416 12-01-2004 08:35 AM

I agree 100%. I'm sure affiliate managers have their own message board somewhere where they're pissed off reading threads like this, but when I'm dealing with an affiliate manager I often feel like im dealing with a government worker. If all affiliate managers were at the computer 8hrs a day, competent and had a basic understanding of this industry.. my life would be 10x easier. I try and contact some affiliate managers on ICQ and it's a fucking miracle if I actually get to talk to them. Never mind getting a solution to the problem.

pussyluver 12-01-2004 08:35 AM

Want a better affiliate manager - hire me !

MetaformX 12-01-2004 08:47 AM

I hear what you are saying twist, and you are right on. I can't speak for anyone else, but I will say that StudioCash will have a 6 hour guarantee on answering all emails, but MOST will get a response back by an actual breathing human being within 1 hour. There is no excuse for not answering emails for 2 days.

Mefo 12-01-2004 09:00 AM

diesel, platinumbucks, sexsearch, those guys really gets my :thumbsup

fris 12-01-2004 09:02 AM

slickcash brock, whitney from quickbuck, sylvia from topbucks, punkerbarbie, are just some have always been in contact. just to name a few. i really enjoy sales reps that work with you to get business done.

If I had a dime for every time I was asked "How do I put your banners on my website and send traffic to you?". These almost always have a hotmail, yahoo or AOL email :thumbsup

"Most affiliate managers suck"

Some will swallow too if you send them enough traffic :1orglaugh

LaurieX 12-01-2004 09:11 AM

I am always online if my webmasters need me available on ICQ and email! Even most of the time on the weekends.:)

also in defense of us affiliate managers...imagine managing 200+ accounts and trying to contact your webmasters who ignore you and THINK we're spamming...makes it very frustrating for us.:(

I'll generally answer the email within the first few minutes-max one hour to at least let you know that 'I'm looking into it'. If it's something I can answer quickly - then you'll get your answer right away.

Just to let most of you know, if any of you have sent me email and I didn't respond, it's either I didn't receive it, or my ISP was blocking my outgoing emails due to my XXX in my nick or if a word in the email triggered Symantec's server spam blocker. I'd rather not start writing to you like I'm 733t 0r 1n t0ngu35 hahahah :) This is why, if you use yahoo/hotmail or other online email accounts rather than your server email, I prefer you hit me up on ICQ/MSN/AIM - I'm here a good 18-20 hours a day so you're sure to catch me.

Short Irish Guy 12-01-2004 09:36 AM

Bryan from Adultplex is always there for me. Plus, it doesn't hurt that they're paying $37.50 per FREE signup :Graucho

Part of the job.

SlickCash Brock 12-01-2004 10:21 AM

Looking after 200-300 accounts myself and i always find the time to respond promptly to any and all questions. Email or ICQ i am almost alwys availabe. If i happen to be away it is because i am sleeping and i answer as soon as i am back. It is unfortunate that some don't take the time to deliver the service to the ppl who dleiver the traffic and justify our jobs.

Phoenix 12-01-2004 11:36 AM

yeah you should try to work with someone who will help you out a bit.

i do lots for my webmasters. Hell i even write their text for them if they send to me.

seeric 12-01-2004 11:40 AM

funny how this thread was probably started over a specific issue and has now blossomed into some of the best programs defending themselves over one aff managers lack of communication, more than likely from a smaller program. in dispute, and myself not being an afiliate manager, i will disagee and say that the larger successful programs have it figured out and do provide affiliates with the support they need. otherwise, they wouldn't be big, because affiliates worth attending to would send their traffic elsewhere. when someone is dealing with 1000's of webmasters, it should be an obvious understanding that the ones sending higher amounts of traffic are going to get expedited service. in the internet environment that we work in today, programs are looking for ways to downsize, not hire more people. less people are doing more work nowadays. if i'm wrong, i'll gladly be corrected. :)

esnem 12-01-2004 12:52 PM

twist, I am the affiliate manager for Flynt Digital. I find it funny that you complain of a lack of professionalism in this biz yet you post threads with the title 'Most affiliate managers suck'. If you have no names to name, then shut your mouth. Personally I couldn't care less if you say anything about me, but these people/companies are top notch from personal experience:

Brad - APM
Rocki - TCG
Anyone at Pornkings
Jordan - SlickCash
Jason - Vivid Cash
Chris - Juicy Bucks
Adrian - Silvercash

Each has handled any problems I've ever had dealing with my own traffic before I even started to work with Flynt Digital. If you want to see how I can help you make money with Flynt Digital, click my sig :winkwink:

I can vouch for Peaches, one of the few that will go out of her way to make sure everything is covered and answered :)

RRRED 12-01-2004 01:16 PM

I am obsessive with unanswered emails in my inbox. They will always get answered cuz fortunately for the webmasters, I have no life :)

Holidays, weekends, late at night... But I have to say, that if you really need something answered and it's crucial, an email is much better than an icq... maybe just do both. Because I know when I'm using trillian or something.. if I lose my cable connection even for a minute, I lose all my screens. So that's a situation where someone can slip through the cracks so to speak.
