SHIT! Piercing emergency...

What do I do? I have this eyebrow ring I got like 7 weeks ago or so and I can't get it out! It's kinda thick... your first ones are supposed to be till they heal.

I bought some cute thinner wired ones with different colored stones and now I can't get the damn thing out! It's not screwed in I don't think. Anyone here that can help me out?

Spunky 11-15-2004 10:00 PM

Cut it in half?

candyflip 11-15-2004 10:00 PM

Were you moving it around while it was healing so that the skin didn't grow and attach itself to the metal?

That's the only thing that comes to mind.

Pornweaver 11-15-2004 10:00 PM

Needle nose pliers.

Is it the little ball clasp thing? If so, hold the hoop with the pliers and use your finger to "pop" the ball out.

Go back to the piercing shop. The guy there will take it out for you. :glugglug

Wiggles 11-15-2004 10:01 PM

if its got a ball then it screws out, if its just a wire then it pulls apart.

Varius 11-15-2004 10:01 PM

What shape is it? Depending on the piercing, you may need pliers to get it open.

Also if it's new, you could have some dried blood or puss thats sticking to it. Just play with it enough and it'll come out.

DON'T try and pull it out (like an angry girl did to me once), heh it leaves a little scar and hurts :(

baddog 11-15-2004 10:02 PM

a firecracker should work

media 11-15-2004 10:03 PM

rrred,

in order to get the ball out your going to need to put reverse pressure on the ring, a good generic way to do this is to use some scissors wrap some tape around the ends so you do not create burs on the metal ring..

You might need to put some decent pressure on the ring to open it up.. But be very careful as to not put too much pressure to bend your ring..

This should help.. if it does not, hit me up on aim and let me know whats happening..

Varius 11-15-2004 10:05 PM

I know for my lip ring, it's pretty thick and the guy at peicing shop used pliers to open it when I changed it :2 cents:

RRRED 11-15-2004 10:10 PM

Well I can't go back to the place cuz I did it in Dallas.. there are no shops like that where I'm from...

Yeah it moves around good and its very clean and healed well... its the fucking ball... it seems like it should screw and let loose of one end but when it turn it either direction... no openings.

I'll try the trick with the scissors... I think I saw my son with some pliers the other day... I'll see if he has them... It's strong though shit I hope I don't lose an eye.

Eeeesh

media 11-15-2004 10:18 PM

Two pairs of pliers with electrical tape wrapped around them.. do not use bare metal to bare metal.. Twist on both top and bottom to loosen it up..

Also be careful you could get an infection from using dirty ass garage tools..

Yea, after you're done fucking up your eyebrow and gouging out your eyeball, lets get some shots of the destruction.

NEVER use alcohol around the eye, especially on an irritated piercing.. It has drying agents in it... and can cause infection..

TheGoldenChild 11-15-2004 10:54 PM

put some tussin on it.

This sounds to me like a captive bead that won't let go? Wish I was there, I have a pair of ring openers.

Do what media said. Wrap duct tape or electrical tape around the individual pointy ends of the scissors, (so you don't gouge your eyes out and to not mar the ring and to give the rings something soft to sit against instead of sliding on metal), and very slowly and carefully insert them (closed) into the ring, then slowly and carefully open the scissors. Ball should pop out as soon as the ring hasn't enough pressure to hold it.

:thumbsup

EDIT: If you're talking about a curved barbell, the ball is on WAY too tight. you may have to hold one end and get your son to twist the other. If you can't get it out that way, head over to your local tattoo studio and get the piercer to get it out for you. Be careful, though, or you can very easily rip the piercing out.

Tala 11-15-2004 11:09 PM

Side note: I hate captive ball rings. I can't get the goddamn ball IN it! I have one in my right ear, and damned if it ain't staying there. I'm not gonna fuck with it.

The ring in my nose was a captive ball, but after twenty minutes and bloodshed, I just closed the goddamn thing and threw the ball somewhere across the room. :feels-hot

BitterPen 11-15-2004 11:09 PM

I have helped a few people get piercings out, but without knowing the exact type of jewelry, it will be hard to help. Is it a ring? Is it a barbell? Describe it or go find a pic. If it is the screwed in kind, use rubber gloves to help give you a better grip. If it is a ring with a ball in the middle... the ball just pops out.

Anyway, good luck. Hit me up on Q if you want me to try to help. :)

prodiac 11-15-2004 11:15 PM

I just got my 2nd eyebrow done a couple weeks ago, I got my first one 5 years ago .. I recently went to change the ball on top to a spike, and I had the same problem getting it off. They had mis-threaded it, so it would not unscrew. I had to use needle nose pliers to pull it off, it was just stuck on a little crooked.

ROFL! I used to have problems with them... but now I've kinda become the piercing helper for all my friends. I have helped many people get their piercings in and out. It's so funny when people don't know that all you have to do is pop out the little ball... they try turning it, twisting it, etc and can't get it out. :1orglaugh

I let my navel grow back when I got pregnant. I don't have any other piercings that take those... just my tongue and 7 in my ears. :thumbsup

I can do it for other people but when it comes to my own, I'm screwed...(pun intended)

I'm seriously debating on a labret, and I'm gauging my ears up a little more. Right now they're 8, but I want 4. There's a beautiful set of swans that I'd like to wear, but they're 4s, not 8s.

I've never had a bellybutton ring. I have too much belly for it. Had my nips a couple three years ago, but kept tearing them so took them out. Had a hoodie, but lost it one night (don't ask) and never got it redone. Took the tongue ring out after $1500 of dental work. :(

Now ears twice, thrice if you count the helix in my right ear, getting an indie soon, and seriously debating the labret. NO SEPTUM!! It would look HORRID on me.

I've had a labret and had to take it out because the flat metal backing was wearing down my gums within 5 months. It was minimal damage when i took it out, but i'm glad I did, I would NOT want a friggin gum graft! I've seen quite a few ppl who have worn down gums from a labret. There's the fishtail option but it looks way too big for my mouth.

How did you end up tearing the nipple ring?? I've never had a problem with that. YIKES!!!!

Now all i have is my septum and lip done (new!)

RRRED - So we don't need to exchange pics afterall..... I'll just look for the one eyed chick. But just to make sure, which eye is it? :)

I use to have a kick butt nipple ring with spikes as the balls, but I had to get a few MRIs and it had to come out.... I didn't get it back in before it closed up. Now, I'm not cool anymore.

try rinsing it w/ soap

Doc911 11-16-2004 10:55 AM

Just grab the "top" of the ring with your right thumb and forefinger.

Grab the "ball" with the thumb and forfinger of your left hand.

Hold the ring steady with your right hand and pull down and out on the ball with your left.

The ball will slip out from between the two metal points on the ring.

woodman 11-16-2004 11:02 AM

Come on guys it's so simple.

All you need are pliers and a set of thirty weigh ball bearings. The trick is to make sure you prepare the Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads.
