Well it wasnt disturbing, but the first time I saw eraser head i was for sure like WTF was this shit. I then watched it quite a few times after that just to try to figure it out. I then finally got it after about the 4th time, it has to do with politics, but it was just very very weird.

vivalaspam 09-29-2004 10:01 AM

Jacobs Ladder was pretty questionable as to wtf was going on.

What's disturbing is that the main kid in that movie killed himself the night before the premiere of one of his better movies a couple years ago.

I played Eraserhead for my wife when she was pregnant. She was quite mad at me.

Just watched Szamanka (Andrzej Zulawski) yesterday:

Director Andrzej Zulawski's adaptation of Manuela Gretkowska's controversial screenplay reaches new extremes in the depiction of brutality, explicit sex, and passion as it tells the story of an anthropology professor Michal's (Boguslaw Linda) growing obsession with a mummified shaman; spirituality; and the enigmatic, sexually voracious, violently disturbed beauty known only as "The Italian" (Iwona Petry). Along with very explicit erotic scenes, the film contains Zulawski's usual deliberate assaults on conventional morality, Catholicism, and Polish censorship -- any of which may offend certain viewers.

Haven't decide what I think about it but it definitely has AMAZING sex scenes!

Maybe to release some anger? VHS tapes ae worthless anyways.

johndoebob 09-29-2004 11:15 AM

Geez you all find mainstream movies disturbing :1orglaugh

Guinea Pig isn't a movie just a long fake torture video.
Same goes for Faces of Dead, just some collected death scenes.

A movie I'd call disturbing is for example Visitor Q by Takashi Miike.

Quote:

A father, who is a failed former television reporter tries to mount a documentary about violence and sex among youths. He proceeds to have sex with his daughter who is now a prostitute and films his son being humiliated and hit by classmates. "Q", a perfect stranger somehow gets involved and enter the bizzare family who's son beats his mom, who in turn is also a prostitute and a heroin addict...

dennisthemenace 09-29-2004 11:17 AM

The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years

Chris Holmes in the pool drunk with his mother having to watch him act like an idiot... Definitely disturbing in my mind.

Boys Don't Cry

From IMDB:

Based on actual events. Brandon Teena is the popular new guy in a tiny Nebraska town. He hangs out with the guys, drinking, cussing, and bumper surfing, and he charms the young women, who've never met a more sensitive and considerate young man. Life is good for Brandon, now that he's one of the guys and dating hometown beauty Lana. However, he's forgotten to mention one important detail. It's not that he's wanted in another town for GTA and other assorted crimes, but that Brandon Teena is actually a woman named Teena Brandon. When Brandon's best friends make this discovery, his life eventually is ripped apart by betrayal, humiliation, rape, and murder.

I never want to watch it again :(
