Hello GFY, I'm BACK!

Hello To all of GFY, missed you guys!

Hello fellow ponders, sorry for my long posting absence, but Now that I'm back.... I have something I want to tell you about and thats PattyesKids.com we are selling mecrchandise to help send children with MD across the country to Summer camp...
The cost per child is 600$ Now, MDA covers this cost, but think of the money it takes away from research.... If a cure were found, we wouldn't need to send kids to camp, where for ONE week, they get to be "just like everyone else" horse back riding, swimming etc.

We've workrd hard on the site, and still doing the paper work on our merchants account, that should be in place by Tuesday thru netbilling.... Webgems Hosting is providing all hosting free of charge and I'd like to give them a big shout out!!

I know that times are tight.. but come over and take a look, buy a gift for someone you love or even yourself!!

We DO take pay pal for payments, and we accept pay pal donations as well...

I have voluntered to be the Camp nurse at our local camp next summer, but I'l really like to see at least one child from every stats attend! at 600 x50 thats 30k we need in sales and donations....

I know the people of GFY have always had big hearts and right now, I as well as the kids could use your help...

we are also trying to get moneybookers signed up but I've had trouble reaching them.... If you want to go that route, let me know, and I'll figure out what the info is
I hope you all have a wonderful Labor day, and for those of us with children, lets be thankful they are healthy... for those who aren't lets all pitch in and give them a hand!

We are NOT asking for a hand out... but instead... A Hand UP for Many children

http://www.pattyeskids.com
CJ has made us some banners, if you would like to add one to your site...

And Many thanks to CJ for making us some banners located at http://banners.celebritybling.com/junk/pattyecake.com/

and to Brett for adding us to his gfy Tag line... every little bit helps in the life of a child.... especially those who may never make it to aduthood

Much Love
&

My little brother goes to MD camp every summer and he loves it. They plan a lot of fun activities... swimming, arts and crafts, games, canoes, motorcycle rides, etc, and from the pictures it seems like they all have a great time. Every year he comes away with a few new friends and one he goes to visit once or twice a month.

For a lot of kids with MD this camp is their only fun. For kids with disabilities, vacations can be very expensive, especially when they already have medical supplies to cover, so the families don't get to go out much.

Example: I never went on a "real" vacation until after I moved out and started slinging smut, my family never had the money. I have MD, too.

I've already donated to the telethon today =)

I think everyone should step up and show some love to MDA, these kids surely deserve every bit of support that they get, and all of the money that gets donated also goes to fund tons of great research that helps to find cures or medications that are used to help fight the harsh symptoms that comes from having Muscular Diseases...

Donate to http://www.mdausa.org or to pattys website above...

$600 in this industry is chump change.. Wouldnt you feel better if you knew you helped send a kid to camp?

Also, so you know, every donation with your AMEX card to the MDA official website, AMEX will add $5 to the donation, so if you donate $1, they will give $5 every dollar helps..

I would suggest donating via Pattyecake's site over the telethon . . . I think there is a better chance of the money getting to where it is supposed to go . . . less hands for it to go thru :2 cents:

PattyeCake* 09-06-2004 03:02 PM

Thanks Media....
alll donations at http://www.pattyeskids also go directly to MDA for the childrens camps.. Thank You for donating today...

To help a child is truly on of the more noble gestures you will ever make, and it makes you feel good!

So you would not suggest going directly to the telethons website and making a secure donation to MDA?

His point is he would rather see the money go straight to the people who need it instead of through administrative channels.

venturi 09-06-2004 03:06 PM

The money raised by PattyesKids will be used specifically to sponsor kids to summer camp. What this does for MDA is it frees up $600 per kid sponsored at camp to be used in their medical research. So, if we can sponsor 50 kids for summer camp in 2005 that will be $30,000 that MDA can reallocate to research projects to find cures for these neuromuscular diseases.

So, pony up what you can folks! :thumbsup

I love you too JFK and am looking forward to seeing you again soon!!

if anyone wants to buy a gift for themselves or a loved one, this is the way to go... we do report to the gov, so you can rest assured that everything will go where it is suppose to go....

We are adding new merchandise each day, and Christmas is coming right up! not to mention Anniversaries, Birthdays and the old stand by: "just because"

Ok true, I see what you mean.. Either way, I was mainly suggesting the telethon website because of the extra donation incentive from AMEX when you use an amex card..

I would do 10,000 .10 donations if I knew for certain each transaction gave $5 to MDA.. lol but I dunno if thats cheating or not.. lol..

PattyeCake* 09-06-2004 03:08 PM

AMEN Sly_RJ we bypass the admin costs ;)
all I want to do and all I am trying to do is help the kids....
and you get something for yourself in the process!

If you don't want to buy or donate... how about adding a banner to your site, or your exit button etc...

There are a lot of fingers that get involved in that pie. The Jerry Lewis Telethon has been accused of having a lot of "administrative expenses" which means a lower percentage of the funds actually getting to where it is supposed to go.

I have not been to his site, nor is there much likelihood that I will go there.

I was involved with fundraising for his telethon long before there was an Internet . . . so just speaking of past experience.

exactly . . . Jerry's heart is in the right place, but you know it costs money to throw these telethons, and the people running them expect to get paid . . . quite well, all year long

It gives kids who can't do much a little bit of hope... and without that.... what do we have?

Do they still do the Jerry's kids thing? I was asked to be one when I was 10 or 11, turned it down though.

TDF, www.mdausa.org is the "official" site of the MDA. Don't know where you can find more information, my mom has a million books about it though. There are well over 40 different variations of MD, all differing in what they do to the body.
