Serious Question for all of you...
I moved into a new house into a somewhat of a ranch style neighborhood.
I have a huge lot with mountains near by but my property is not gated. So I come home the other night and I have a Huge Bear in my Trash Bin. The next day my small dogs start barking in the house, I look out the window and the bear is staring at them from the backyard. I asked around the neighborhood and they all said they know about him but he tends to only hang out on my property. I am in the process of building a pool, what do I do? I would hate to come home for a dip and have to ask the bear to get out. Anyone here know about bears, is he going to break into my house, eat my dogs, and go thru my fridge? Do I call animal control? He seems like a nice bear, but he is Huge, I tried to take a picture of him last night but the flash and windows it didn't come out. I would feel bad to shoot the poor guy if he did come in. Any Ideas? |

This is like the Sopranos!
Call animal control. If they can't help you, they should be able to tell you who can. |

No clue what you can do about him maybe a zoo will take him, if you want to shoot him make it quick. If the bear isn't really shy he can get dangerous even if he doesn't look like that. One hit with his feets and you're dead. :2 cents: |
sneak onto your neighbors property and leave lots of food there like fish and stuff... do that a couple times a week, and the bear will stick around your neighbors property and not yours ;)
|
there is the only way - call animal control and no guns needed!
|
Talk to the bear and befriend him. Haven't you learned anything from Grizzly Adams?
|
teach him to swim?

Just hide and cover your garbage cans and food/trash. If that doesnt work just set a trap or shoot the fucker :2 cents: |

the bear needs to be relocated unfortunately for the poor bear.. he has been exposed to humans as we keep moving into their homes.
Make sure you have a bear proof garbage can....call animal control, they will deal with the animal.. dont leave your small dogs outside..yes, they will get eaten..not because the bear is bad..but because that is their nature. a fence wont help much if the bear wants to get back in your garbage.. they are super smart and will keep returning till you do something with your garbage. I hate seeing bears being killed for silly reasons.. good luck |
I would throw a few fishes into your neighbours backyard like one mentioned... hehe
|
maybe he likes to party, offer him a beer :glugglug

One of the newer invisble electric dog fences. Placed around the perimeter. (in ground) and juiced up a little extra. You know it's turned up high enough when the worms start shooting out of the dirt. :thumbsup

Remove the food source and keep it removed. The bear will move on to next food source. |

Save the bears!

Hope to god the bear isn't wearing a thong and drinking your beer poolside when you go to ask him to leave.

call animal control
|
I would call animal control before it became an issue

If you are ever confronted by a bear. Remeber these simple facts:
#1. There is so such thing as a "nice" bear. #2. They will not respond to "Its ok, dont be scared, I wont hurt you!". #3. You cannot persuade them with honey. #4. Bears eat people. Remember this simple facts and your chances of survival will greatly increase. :thumbsup |

LMAO This is some funny shit!
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
If you have a garage I would keep your trash in the garage..no easy access to food and he/she should move on. Walk your dog on a leash do not let them out alone cause yes the bear may eat them.
Animal control can help but chances are by the time they show up the bear is gone. |

call Fox and tell them you want to do a reality show staring the bear

You guys have some good advice. You guys are all so funny too.
I like the idea of throwing some fish in the neighbors yard. :1orglaugh Sad part it, even though he is about a 10' bear, he seems like he is a cool Bear. I will try to get some pictures of it tonight. I call him a he but not sure. I know is Yosemite they break into cars all the time. My windows are nothing compared to the cars they break in. |

keep your trash inside. bring your bird feeders in at night. learn to live with the critters that were here first. we have bears at my house as well. take away their distractions and they will leave you alone.
i don't know how it works in your area but around here, bears that get called in to the DOW for looting trash cans get two chances then they are shot. so take away their ability to get your trash and save them from that fate. seriously, living in wildlife-heavy areas is an awesome experience. learn to live with some of the hassles and love the rest!!! |
call this guy
