home business ideas... easy extra cash?
Share your ideas for easy non online ways to make some extra dough!
I was talking with my dad today and he told me about a lady who ran a Kennel service. In her back yard she has like a gated area of like 5 or so dog kennels. each one has a place where they can go like under cover/inside of course and a little room for them. She charges something like $12 a night to take care of peoples pets. If she has 5 kennels and is getting $12 for each one thats 60 bucks for VERY little work. most people are going to leave their dog for more than a night. She also does cats and those can just stay inside not sure if she does same price but... Anyway advertising is fuckin easy too because she can make flyers and just go to all the areas pet stores and vets to get her name out. im moving to a new college town with some friends and hoping to get some sort of thing like this going maybe something geared toward younger people my age though... anyone else got any ideas? anything helps. lets share and maybe something good can come out of something else. |
where are all the fucking entrepaneurs at!?

on the corner of a bust street in your neighbourhood, open a lemonade stand. you can sell cookies too to make an extra profit.

flea market
Ishit you not my father-in-law actually orders those cheesy porcelain figurines from SMC and sells the shit out of them at the flea market he's averaging over $300 a weekend with almost no effort (decent chunk of change for a disabled vet on the weekends) |

i would sell two different sizes of lemonade. i'd also sell ice tea (made from a powder mix). the ice tea cost 50 cents a jug and i'd sell one small cup for 45 cents. i also had this crazy drink made from orange juice and frozen raspberries that i sold for $1/glass. throw in the cookies and mini-chocolate bars and i was making about $30-$50 profit a day. i wasn't complaining at that age :) |

setup a 24 hour delivery service. Take out, beer runs, condoms, what the fuck ever..charge a flat rate based on total amount of the purchase,.
the success of it depends on alot of variables, but it could work. |

There is a reason why most kennels are outside of town..reason being..kennels = dogs, dogs = barking hence disturbing your neighbors. You would also need to know a little something about dogs, how to tell if they are sick etc. You would also need a lawyer to write up a release for your customers to sign to relieve you of any resposibiity in case one of the dogs get hurt/sick. Also, you would need to find a vet nearby and make arrangements so that if any of the dogs become ill/injured that you can take them there. Who pays if something like this happens? The owner? If it is the owner then you need to find a vet willing to do emergency care on dogs without the owners permission and who would be willing to do the work and wait for payment...which may nor may not come. You would have to clean up a lot of dog shit, hose down the kennels at least once per day and to keep things clean and disease free. Dogs need feeding according to the schedules they normally eat, which can be 3 times per day for some. Many kennels also offer walking of the dogs etc. It isn't a matter of throwing up a bit of a fence and then start raking in the money without doing anything further. Not trying to rain on your parade here, just being realistic. I know a bit about dogs and kennels. |

then give the directory away on the campus, put it an include with local weekly alternative papers you can also do the opposite and offer them free listings and sell the directory for $3-5 |

I live in Boston with a billion colleges here and near all the colleges are pizza places, fast food places, small convenience stores, apartment rental places and hair/nail salons. if you really want to make money with dogs though, i think you and your friends could start a dog walking/pet sitting service. Youd need to live in a place where there are a lot of apartment buildings and people living close together in order to make it work. You can only make big money from a pet care service through volume, like having 4 different clients living on 1 building. thats how you make your money. College students arent a good target because they dont have much money. You should try to get adults because they spend tons of money on their dogs. I know a girl who lost her job and started a dog walking service with 1 dog. by the end of the week she had 13 clients. 6 years later she has over 25 part time employees, 2 offices and the business makes over a million a year. She does walking, sitting, grooming, puppy school, etc etc. |
hot dog stand!
lease a hotdog stand and drive it around campus....very little investment.... |
clickhappy, damn man just a simple walking service is a pretty good idea. i could just stop by the peoples house at their desired time take theirdog on a however long walk come back and drop it off. any idea how much she charged for that? i will be living in /around apartments. that would be great thing to do i dont get out ofthe house nearly enough i could use the walking .. ..:1orglaugh
also good point about the college students not having much money it would be nice to figure out something but your probably right i should stick to the older people. |
