i always thought the dude sounded like a mentally retarded person going into convulsion :2 cents:
|
they are OK ... there is a lot of worse groups :)
|
They are my faveorite band of all time. However, I have long since known that they are a band you love or hate. You hate them? Fine by me..one less person I have to fight to get tickets.
btw..even the fans hate Shiny Happy People...it was more of a B52s song with them on it. |
Hate them too.. Dunno if they are more into politics than music... anyway they suck at both :glugglug
|
I like their earlier stuff, like "Orange Crush", "Radio Free Europe" and "It's the End of the World as We Know it (and I Feel Fine)".
Saw them around mid 90's, was an OK show, but around that same time I saw shows by Depeche Mode and The Cure that I enjoyed much more. |

I'm a huge B52s fan, I have dozens of remixes by them in addition to all their studio albums. Saw them in 1980 when they had just come out with their 2nd album, would love to see them again to hear all of their other stuff live. I found out too late about them playing at a nearby casino recently:( Speaking of Iggy, now that's a live show:thumbsup |
i like R.E.M. but different strokes i say
|
everybody hurts - The lead singer should have decided to have lovers with such large cocks...
|
I only like the end of the world and that other gay song
|
Murmur is a great record. superb.
rapid eye movement is also when we enter the dream state. there's 4 levels of sleep, 4 being the deepest, when REM is achieved, and the only level we can dream at. i got to see them in 85, and again in 87...after 90, they weren't as original and fresh. |

U2 and REM are two of my favorite bands :glugglug |

Don't worry, being a fan of R.E.M. has long been somethign you will ocassionally take knocks for from people that only really ever heard song song from Out of Time and Automatic For The People. Oh and btw, Everybody Hurts is NOT a depressing song. See, R.E.M. is a band for people that listen to lyrics and appreciate muscianship and don't judge a band based on hairstyles or sexual preferrence. |
one of my fav bands. but i hate their happy people song.. :( day sleeper and sweetness follows are some of the good ones though :thumbsup
|
It's music for 21 year old college girls from the suburbs.
|
I heard the lead singer is gay?:Oh crap
|

Very annoying band
|
I liked REM for about a month in highschool, they got old and annoying real fast. The only song I really liked was "Superman"
Never liked the B52's, everytime I heard the song "Love Shack" and my friends would turn up the radio I thought they were all high/drunk and cut me out of the goodies. They played that song so much I still know all the damn words!! :1orglaugh |

maybe in 1983 but that audience has grown up with the band and the one thing I like most about them is that they change their sound so often. If you just take two (of their many) albums - Monster and Murmur they couldn't be further apart sound wise. If I am in the mood to rock out I can put Monster on, when I need to be picked up I stick on Automatic For The People and when I just need to hear a super underated album I put on New Adventures in Hifi. |

Love Shack was majorly overplayed but it also isn't the kind of B52s that we were talking about. See, when they started out they were more of a zany punk act with songs like Rock Lobster. Love Shack and Roam (same album) were like the waterdowned stuff to sell records. In many ways that is the way some R.E.M. fans feel about the Losing My Religion phase. Brilliant song but there is so many people that think that is pretty much the only thing they did. They have something like 15 albums going back to 1982. Good luck finding a new band today that will last that long. Honestly, the type of people that are really into a band like R.E.M. are used to being a dedicated minority and secretly we kind of like it that way. |
Why don't you dance with me
I'm not no Limburger:glugglug Hey! Fred, now don't that make you feel a whole lot better now? Huh? Say, don't that make you feel a whole lot better? What you say? I'm just askin' Yeah, yeah, yeah... Stop! |
