They aren't from me for one and two you should send them to [email protected]. Please be sure to forward the message so we can trace it.

JSA Matt 07-09-2004 02:56 PM

I love how I got the same automated e-mail for every single one of our sites, send a message to abuse only to be called a liar.

Always view the email headers before you acuse someone of spam. :2 cents:

PatrickKing 07-09-2004 02:57 PM

If you are referring to the message I think you are, it's not spam. We pay a philipino about $2 an hour to personally visit your site check it out and contact you. Therefore thats not spam :321GFY

Please do. If its contacting you about promoting our site its not spam, our guy personally visited your site. Instead of freaking out why don't you just hit the delete button? We only contact each site once.

But yes I will gladly look into and see what message you got.

Should I call it unsolicited email?

No it's called a cold call. It's not illegal to contact a site using the contact form or email address on their website. If you don't want to be contacted then don't put a contact method on your site.

So contacting someone by using their "contact" button on their site is spam? Maybe you aren't too clear on the definition yourself.

It's common sense if you don't want to be contacted, don't put a contact button on your site.

I get marketing material from people all the time:

Webair
Playboy
Hustler
Ccbill
Content Providers

and you know what I do? If Im not interestd I hit the delete button.

Now if they are spamming me viagra or mouse pads thats a different story.

Yes my guy sent you that. Sorry he's just trying to keep his job and recruit some webmasters.

I'll tell him he can't contact other sites anymore because they complain in public on boards, so we have to let him go.

He'll be happy to tell his kids daddy no longer has a job because of you.

First off my email is not on my sites , if you find it I will apoligise.
Secondly , the first one I blew off , the second one pissed me off a little.

I never talked with you and you don't see my programs in your mailbox. Its a comon curtisy not to bomb fellow webmasters with
solicitations , unless they are part of your program already.

Especially when you get an automated e-mail to every site in your program (more than once) instead of a friendly e-mail to the program owner... go figure.

You are an IDIOT. That mail above does NOT comply to the can spam laws, rules and regulations. You are a spammer plain and simple, and jimmyf posted the best solution on how to deal with you.:2 cents:

Just curious

the electronic mail address of the recipient was obtained using an automated means from an Internet website or proprietary online service operated by another person, and such website or online service included, at the time the address was obtained, a notice stating that the operator of such website or online service will not give, sell, or otherwise transfer addresses maintained by such website or online service to any other party for the purposes of initiating, or enabling others to initiate, electronic mail messages;

You got the address by browsing a site operated by ANOTHER person...

I'm not a lawyer....But am I right here?

He visits sites and emails them so he must have visited to of your sites a couple times. I will see if he can recall where on your site he got it.

I just spend 4 hours going to contact pages, and hitting up the listed email address with a business offer.

Why would you bitch about getting 2 emails? Forget where the delete key is?
