Michael Moore
I see a lot of discussion here about Michael Moore (you know the guy who just won Cannes top award :winkwink: ). Some say he's great, some say he sucks.
So here's an anonymous poll just to see the proportion of Moore's fans/haters. |
He makes some very thought provoking documentaries.

Saving spot in possible heated Moore discussion thread.

I anonymously voted:
NO because I hate those that make up drama and call it a factual documentary just to make tons of money (and makes fun of others that just do things for money). And, for the record, I'm voting for Kerry. So this isn't some right winger talking. |
He doesn't make documentaries.

I think he's great and we need more Americans like him.

For now, the score is tight.
It would have been interesting to have only yank voters. Outside of the USA, Moore has a quite good image but in the States, things seem slightly different since a lot of people seem to struggle to make him look as an asshole. |

I think he's funny, insightful and even if not everything is a "real" documentary it's highly entertaining and thought provoking. |
Will you, people who voted NO, go and see Fahrenheit 9/11 ?
PS: if a distributor is found :winkwink: |
I respect the guy!

If he's really not in it for the money, how about a FREE "pre-release" online? Interesting petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/rd3p123m/petition.html |

I like him but he's a little over the top at times (like during his speech at the Academy Awards, or whenever that was). I haven't seen his new movie yet, though.

http://www.michaelmoorehatesamerica.com/fmJournal.html May 19, 2004 - A new deal. You all know that I recently made an offer to Michael Moore to give 5% of the profits from the film to Buell Elementary School in Flint, MI, provided he did the 45 minute sit-down interview I?ve been requesting of him for a year now. He has yet to respond. So now comes word that a bright, young guy named Ryan is conspiring (I love that word) with Lee and Jim over at Moorewatch.com to make him another offer he won?t respond to. Ryan has begun a petition to ask Moore to release Fahrenheit 911 on the internet for free. See, Moore just spent the last two days playing ?aw, shucks? with the French and the press, pretending to be the target of a White House conspiracy (I love that word) to keep his film from being seen in the US. Of course, this is Bullshit! (as my friend Penn would say), designed to drum up anticipation for the flick?s release. So the other day, I saw a clip of Moore stating that he would release the film, even if he had to commit an act of civil disobedience to do it. He said that it?s crucial that people see this film before the election, and he?d break the law to make sure they do. I?d like to point out that it?s not possible to commit an act of civil disobedience in the process of exercising free speech, but Moore suddenly thinks he?s Ghandi, so I guess that fact is lost on him. So Ryan has come up with a brilliant solution. If the film is so valuable, and Moore is so determined that people see it for the true purposes he claims, why not forego all the box office garbage and let it loose on the internet? Will Moore agree, or is the money more important than the message? Time will tell, but I think Ryan has a great idea. You can sign a petition at the site, encouraging Moore to show that he is consistent in his ideology. If he?s more interested in the ?truth? being revealed to the world than he is the payday, he?ll do it. But if it?s all just a game designed to increase his personal wealth at the expense of his loyal followers, he won?t. It?s that simple. Check it out at http://www.moorewatch.com/releasethemovie. Before you Moore fans jump all over me and call me a hypocrite, I?d just like to point out that I make no apologies for the fact that I hope to make a profit on this film. I?m intellectually honest enough to know that this is a business, and you should know that I have no illusions about saving the world. I?m just trying to make a good flick. Yeah, I know, somebody will pirate the damn thing and trade it at Kazaah, but I hope enough of you go to see it so that I can make my money back, put my kid through college, and maybe even buy a big, black Cadillac. I?ll check back soon? possibly with a big announcement. Take care, Mike Wilson Director, Michael Moore Hates America |

He's a funny comedian. But what's funnier is watching the people who believe his movies are documentaries.

I'm sorry, I like his sarcastic sense of humor, but given all the other documentaries that were up for the Oscar, they should have won it, over a movie that at best was fiction disguised as reality. |
He asks questions that clearly embarass a lot of Americans.
It's good in a Democracy to have people like Moore, who upset the status quo and question authority. Of course he has to make a living, but is he drumming up interest to get his message to as many people as possible or to make as much money as possible. Guess the answer to that lies in what you believe. He says something that is untrue, come back with facts not just accusations. |
I voted no, but will watch the movie also.

even if you dont like his views ,you have to respect what he has done coming from nothing.

I hate the lying fuck

I like him.. not neccesarily his views 100%, but he does make some good points and I like movies that start people thinking. :2 cents:

I love Michael Moore, he goes againsts the mainstream media and sticks to his guns and opinions. Maybe not always right, but he doesnt waver.
