He won't buy me flowers!

He doesn't like to buy flowers. What do you think?

StuartD 05-23-2004 04:27 PM

"just forgotten"?

What's the occassion? Anniversary?

SmutGiant 05-23-2004 04:28 PM

Does he do anything else to make up for the lack of flowers?

ie: sentual/erotic messages, writing you a note, calling you in the middle of the day for no reason etc.

KRL 05-23-2004 04:28 PM

Flowers are nice, but when a girl expects things just because its expected I think its a turnoff.

You should want to give a girl flowers not feel like you have to.

Jman 05-23-2004 04:29 PM

What's your address :Graucho

bad_girl 05-23-2004 04:29 PM

For all special occassions, you pre-program it into his palm pilot
ie "Its our anniversary, pick flowers up"

Sosa 05-23-2004 04:30 PM

flowers are over rated and just die in a week.

Elli 05-23-2004 04:30 PM

Interesting responses.

No, he didn't forget any event or anniversary. He just doesn't do spontaneous things like that. It simply doesn't occur to him.

Once he bought me a vaccuum for my birthday, but that's another story.

bad_girl 05-23-2004 04:33 PM

I used to whine about all the things I never got until one day I realized they were irrelevant compared to the things he did for me.

But damn girl, a vaccum?

:1orglaugh

StuartD 05-23-2004 04:33 PM

Well, if he's anything like me (and most guys)... then it's just one of those "silly girl things"

Us guys just expect that eventually you're going to just know that we love you, and not need to keep showing it to keep you aware of it.

Women need to keep being reassured, guys just want to have to tell you only once and not bring it up again.

It's kinda silly on both parts if you ask me, but that's generally how it tends to go (based on my observations).

You know, I almost laughed, but then I realized how sad you sounded. I guess the truth is not always as fluffy and entertaining as we would like it to be.

What kind of spontaneous things do you do for him?

punker barbie 05-23-2004 04:37 PM

ummmm i hate getting flowers personally......

if they really want to show a significant other and want to do something nice, then take the time to find out what interest them.

flowers are just meaning less. he should try getting u a book by one of your favorite writters or something.....

Excellent question. I buy him slurpees when I run to the store for milk. I make sure he has his Molly McButter. I vacuum and wash his car without being asked. I buy him clothes for his non-me photoshoots when I see interesting ones.

Ok, so nothing super romantic. But nice, all the same.

do you give him blowjobs while he drives? that should justify some flowers.

aww that is a nice gift. Its the type of gift that just keeps on giving all year round. Did it come with the extended warranty, an extra belt, and bag/or filters?

At first I thought you were whining that you didn't get flowers for a special occasion or as a "make-up" attempt. In both of those cases I don't expect flowers. When I do get flowers I prefer for them to NOT be real so I can enjoy them longer than a few days. :)

Then I read your response. I'm with you on this. Although I don't expect gifts for any occassion, spontaneous surprise gifts like that are always much more special than birthday or anniversary flowers. If more guys got this, I think there would be less children because that sperm would have been swallowed instead.... :2 cents:

Excellent, thank you. So I'm not alone in this. It's not limited to flowers. It's anything, really, that would be a nice little surprising touch, like SmutGiant said earlier. Ah well, I'm stuck with him now. :winkwink:

No. Well, sometimes flowers, but the romance usually falls short. There was a huge kafuffle last birthday. He tried to fake me out into thinking he wasn't going to get the one thing I asked for, thinking it would be nice to surprise me. So I almost boughtit for myself!

tootie 05-23-2004 04:52 PM

I don't get flowers, either, but my husband does do other nice things for me, sometimes. I guess it all comes down to whether or not he does ANYTHING for you. If flowers (or lack thereof) are the only thing you have to worry about, you're better off than alot of women these days. :Graucho

Of course, *I* would buy you flowers. :winkwink:

SureFire 05-23-2004 04:53 PM

Mine remembers the major days that requires flowers.

For a while (two years) every Friday he would bring home a nice bouquet then he stopped. Asked him why and his reply was that the ?hottie? quit and it wasn?t worth his time standing in line for five minutes watching an old man. I just laughed.

Wish that girl never quit?he told me there is no longer a line anymore, but if I wanted flowers every week just buy them. Takes all the fun at of it.

:)

No day REQUIRES flowers. Wait, I'm wrong... Your wedding and your funeral are the two days where flowers are needed.

SykkBoy 05-23-2004 05:07 PM

I have bad allergies, so seldomly buy my wife flowers, but I occasionally have chocolates delivered to her or other special gifts

I used to surprise her with dinner, but she's a picky eater.

I've often rented a room, spa treatment and a dinner reservation in Mesquite and arranged for her parents to watch the kids.

merlin77 05-23-2004 05:08 PM

Have you been blunt with him and told him how you felt? Maybe that will strike the spontanaity up a little. (It won't seem spontanious at first because you helped him get there, but it will lead to it)

spamofon 05-23-2004 05:18 PM

i ll buy you flowers if you stop posting threads

Babagirls 05-23-2004 05:20 PM

its only flowers, get over it :winkwink:

(tell him to shell out a few more bucks for a 1 hour massage by some hot guy at a Day Spa instead of flowers that will die in a few days anyways :thumbsup )

I am with you, Sweets! I enjoy recieving things for no reason... who doesn't?? However, I would much rather enjoy something that will last. Flowers only last a week or so.
