Remember My Anxiety Attack? Well HOLY SHIT, I just got the Damage Report!!! (pic)

For those of you that remember, I had an anxiety attack a couple months back and got a lot of support from some folks here. Well I got the bill today and it's enough to cause another attack!!! $1608.00 fucking dollars!!!

I saw a nurse for 30 minutes, Spoke to a doctor for 5 minutes, and they gave me a 100mg Xanax to calm me down! HOLY SHIT!!! Healthcare in America is getting out of control!!!

Dirty F 05-03-2004 02:47 PM

A bit off topic but doesnt it totally frustrate you that your government is blowing billions on a useless war on the other side of the world and you have to pay these amounts when you get sick in your own country as a tax payer?

$heDevil 05-03-2004 02:47 PM

That's one of the ups about Canada. We don't get anythingl ike that... although there are still those that'll abuse the system :BangBang:

mindoza 05-03-2004 02:52 PM

I had surgery three years ago and the bill was $64,000 bucks. this is the killer when i came in the emergency room. they put the socks with tread on it. They said i had to have them so as i do not trip..I would not been able to walk even if i wanted to.

The bill for the socks were $38.00

No wonder Insurance premiums are so high!

So true. Over the last few years, I had to have a lump removed from the side of my face, a lymphnode out of my neck (which ended up causing nerve damage so physical therapy followed) and surgery to re-attach the flexor tendons in my arm. I don't think I spent more than 100.00 between all of those surgeries. The most expensive part was the copays to the doctors for follow-ups. :thumbsup

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-03-2004 03:02 PM

TurboAngel 05-03-2004 03:04 PM

You should send them a letter asing them to "forgive" you of the bill. You have to use the word forgive, they get so much $$ to hahahahaha off.

I know this because my Stepdad is the director of the VA hospital.

:thumbsup

SlickCash Sarah 05-03-2004 03:05 PM

Living in Canada totally has its ups and downs..One of the BIGGEST ups is our kick ass healthcare system. Sorry to hear about that bill babes. Hope your feeling better though!

AdultNex 05-03-2004 03:05 PM

Why do you think so many people are going to Pre-Med?

The medical field pays well... Real well.

No, what bugs most people more is foreigners who think they have an opinion that counts about the U.S, either move here or eat a dick.

Brad Mitchell 05-03-2004 03:06 PM

pfft. That's nothing. I pay $950/mo for Blue Cross Blue Shield for insurance for myself, wife and baby. On top of that we pay 50% on prescriptions and have at least a 20% copay. Cry me a river!

Brad

That's what I did, too....the last time I was hospitalised...

They also did something else. They asked me if I were the sole support of my family, so I said yes.

They reduced my bill from 15G's to two and I paid them 50 dollars a month until it was bye bye.

Call Social Services at the hospital. They should be able to help you.

Brujah 05-03-2004 03:20 PM

According to U.S. Government Statistics:*

- The average national cost of a hospital stay in
2001 was $3,252 per day;
- The average national cost of an appendectomy in
2001 was $14,225; and
- Fixing a child's broken arm in 2000 cost an
average of $8,091.
