2) By reducing the spending power of the working class he hurts this business even more. We make our money out of the millions spending money on pleasures. Reduce the money they have and the first thing to go is "Pleasure purchases" Look at your memberships and think how many of them were included in Bush's tax breaks. SUPPORT for the Bush administration's handling of Iraq is eroding, with only 44 per cent of Americans approving of the situation, according to a CNN/Time poll.

The poll also found President George W. Bush's own approval rating had sunk to a record low of 49 per cent since CNN/Time started polling in the earliest days of the Bush presidency in 2001.

The survey found 44 per cent of those canvassed approved of Bush's handling of the situation in Iraq, where new unrest has caused fresh US casualties in the past week.

That was down from 51 per cent approval in a poll held from March 26 to 28.

Just over half the respondents, 51 per cent, disapproved of the president's management of Iraq, according to the new poll which was conducted on April 8.

Overall, 47 per cent said they disapproved of the way Bush was handling his job as president.

However, public perception of Bush as a strong fighter of terrorism remained robust.

A majority of 55 per cent backed Bush in that regard against 39 per cent who disapproved.

On the economy - which consistently ranks amongst the public's highest concerns - a minority of 41 per cent expressed satisfation with Bush, while 54 per cent disapproved of his economic management of the country.

The telephone poll canvassed 1005 adults. The margin of error was three per cent.

Being Canadian, I've never really understood the worth of having a two-party system like the US has. I know that it is great that one party can gather most of the support, and with a 3+ party system there is always the risk that all the smaller parties can band together and swing more votes than the ruling party...... but damn, having to choose between Bush and Gore?.... holy shit, it's no wonder there was a contraversial vote count last time.



For me the jury is still out on Kerry. Does he have the strength of character needed to be president? The moral resolve? In some forums he's looking good, but he is getting mixed reviews in others. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out as Election day approaches, that's for sure.
