At what point do you feel like you have extra money?
How much do you have to make before you feel like you have extra money? Not just including your bills but normal spending whether it's stuff you need or want.
I messed up and made decent money when I was 18 so mine is pretty high. Just wondering what everyone else from both ends of the rainbow thinks. I would say at $1000 a week I would barely be able to get by and around $2000 I would be comfortable. So anything over that I would consider extra. Discuss |
if i'm not making 300K+ a month, i get worried. seriously.

i lived on less than 1K/month in University. much less.

Yeah it's definetly a shock to make less than you once were. When I was about 16, before I ever had a dayjob and had only been getting a $5 allowence before then I started spamming. I made some badass yahoo spammers that could get me $1200 a day on clickcash easy + an extra $300 with foreign dialer traffic. When that finally ended I had almost nothing yet cause I was a stupid kid and took it all for granted. Since then I've been making $100-$300 a day which isn't bad for a 20 year old. It pays the bills. Luckily since I started SEO the daily income is growing steadily but man I kick myself every day for not SAVING MY MONEY back then.

i remember starting with adult internet in late 96. started making around 3-4K/month right off that bat.
it was all the money in the world at the time lol |

I wasn't asking what everyones bills are, just at what point you feel like you have extra money coming in to do whatever you want with whether it be spend, invest, or save. |

Then I fucked up and started selling on ebay. $5000 the first week in sales and I've been fucked ever since. Normal money just doesn't do it anymore. |
I had alot more free cash flow when I was younger. Now everything gets reinvested. But I have plenty set off to the side in case something goes wrong. Id say 5 yrs worth.

I probably spend about $500 a month on "normal" stuff, so I have assloads of extra money. Most of it goes towards my savings account though, might be nice to retire when I finish university :winkwink:

Both property and publishing after my football career ended made my future as sound as a bell -
We went into web sites in 1996 and again, we are making nice profits - It's nice to be in the position when (Disaster) companies like globill, sypro and others go bust and catch us for several thousands - And actually lose no sleep worrying about it. |

Spoke to some real nice people who made me some good offers - I also spoke to you, who came over as a complete and utter fucking nutcase - (Add asshole to that too.) The main reason I was considering selling my sites was down to wanting to spend more time with my adhd son - Simple as that - I had the choice - Looked at the options, and decided not to sell - Instead I hired a load of people to do most of the work for me. |

I cut him off from an icq conversation because he tried to portray himself as some kind of mafia guy - I wasn't in the slightest impressed with his attitude then, nor am I now. And if you think a guy who launches a site which crosses the border between sex and rape is credible - That is your choice. |
Great thread and similar stories to mine :( , sometimes i wish i had saved instead waste what i had :(

I need at least $2k a week to get by... And that's just being "comfortable". Anything after $4k a week is extra money to me... I've been spoiled and it's hard to live modestly now. I have to make a lot of money to support my cushy lifestyle :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

i need money always coming in, i am an avid spender for some reason, it depends on wat kind of thing i am into that month. no exact numbers it always varies as i always like to try, collect, and do new things.

don't know what normal is but if that investor guy buffet can live on a $100k/yr salary and millions of people can live on a 50k/year, then I would say everything above that is investable/luxury income...

Its pretty hard to have "extra" money.. the more you make, you more you'll spend. And the more you spend, the more money you need for "extra" money.. it's a cycle :) Just depends on your lifestyle and how far you're willing to go
|
I say anything over $1,300 a month is extra for me.
