The fire is coming to L.A. (pic)

Geez,
Here's the view as of 1 pm today from my Hollywood apartment. The smoke is so thick the fiber optic cables are choking from frame and jitter errors.

SuicideMachine 10-28-2003 03:13 PM

are whole city is like that. fuck it smells nasty!

Justin L.A. 10-28-2003 03:23 PM

$50,000 reward now for information. They believe the fires were set by several people.

Do I live in the Getto? Huh? Hollywood Hills foo.

That's supposed to be downtown L.A. in that pic, look close and you can barely make out a couple of buildings.

Oh, Studio City was evacuated and burned to the ground yesterday.

Joking...

Studio City is close to here and I think the smoke is worse over there in the "Valley".

I had prior art! jerk!

hyatla 10-28-2003 03:47 PM

I am in downtown. The smoke is as thick as that. If I am a movie director, would have shot some footage for my future film, as "doom's day" scene. :(

Studio city was somewhat better this morning, don't know why, maybe it's not in the path of the smoke.

Platinum Adam 10-28-2003 03:48 PM

Man, best of luck to all you out in that direction, thats scary shit!

C-Bass 10-28-2003 03:49 PM

is it just me....or is there no fire in sight?

Mishi 10-28-2003 03:54 PM

Scary. :(

Justin, whereabouts is your apartment? I lived at Franklin and LaBrea maaaaaany years ago; want to get some perspective as to where that pic's taken from.

That's a good thing. If you're at the point where you can SEE the fire, you best not be clicking the camera. :winkwink:

tony286 10-28-2003 03:59 PM

Is Gray Davis going to be blamed for this also lol.

Smog can't burn down your home.

Oh, and most of LA isn't threatened by the fire. Just the folks who have homes in the mountain/foothill areas who are near the burn areas.

basschick 10-28-2003 05:28 PM

Spotter_03 i'm in hollywood, too, and - i'm by beachwood and franklin and - we're not in visual distance here of any fire. it's dark, smoky, and the sun is dark and red.

tonkagunner 10-28-2003 05:29 PM

I heard smoke is so bad in San Diego that it looks like Riverside, CA normally does.

Justin L.A. 10-28-2003 05:34 PM

This makes it look like WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! :)

Dang, I had no idea there were so many of us here in hollywood!

I'm on hollywood blvd. a bit west of la brea.

The sky is definitely EXTRA CHUNKY and the sun very spooky and red. Perfect for Halloween--no so good for lungs.

Beachwood--love going up there to the coffeeshop!
