Are you willing to die for you country?
If someone offered you a gun and plane ticket to go to Iraq or Afghanistan or anywhere that we may have to go to fight next. Would you be willing to go right now, are you willing to fight for your country and risk your life?
I have to say, I would go, I don't think I would have to think twice about it, my country is a great place and I would be willing to pick up a weapon and fight for it to survive if I was needed. Politics and all aside because I don't agree with the current administrations policies, I'm talking purely from a standpoint of whether you are willing to pick up arms and fight for your country if you were needed. |
Been there, done that.... fuck that noise. I'll leave that to you young bucks. I'm all about enjoying the fuck outta every goddamned day I got left on this Earth. :)
|
The answer depends on the circumstances. If my country is involved in a conflict that I believe is worthwhile or necessary, I would be willing to risk my life for the cause. Despite all the bickering, I believe a greater good has been served in Iraq. Vietnam, however, was a bad joke. I would risk my life for my country but not for some political whim that serves no purpose I can understand.

I wont go...you will go instead of me...im too important...;)

I would go to Iraq just to try & find Sadam for the $25mill reward :)
|
If someone has the balls to invade the usa yea i will fight but going over to iraq or whatever country the prez decided to invade fuck that im not interested in taking over the world or telling people how to run thier biz.
|
like sandman! said i would defend my country if it were invaded but fuck joining the army or whatever. you get paid worse than minimum wage for the worst job possible. and while they all think they are fighting for freedom, and in a sense they are, they are killing and dying for the decisions of politicians and businessmen who are completely detached from the situation.

I would fight (and die if i had to) for my family, my friends and myself.

The reality is politicians only say "Died for fighting for their country" just to make the death meaningful
99% of the time soldiers fight to stay alive and keep their buddies and other fellow soldiers alive Remember back when they interviewed all the wounded soldiers and marines? They all said they wanted to go back their team and fight |
i would die for a pizza now
seriously |

And if you fuckers were drafted, you'd go. Period. God-damned good thing there weren't all that many like you back in 1940 or we'd all be sprechenzie Duetche right about now. You slackers. |

One thing I note is that the leaders of countries.. the politicians & businessmen as you call them - seldom pay a price for war. Saddam may come to mind, but even if he gets killed by the US, he's had a pretty good past 20 years running a country, I mean, he's got a fair bit of wealth & runs a country, not a bad deal for him. Except, he should have taken the offer of exile and gone with that, he still could have lived like a king in first class luxury, just couldn't control a country |

I don't give a shit where someone is born - they never asked to be born there - including the US - so are all treated the same. "Patriotism is a disease of the vicious" - Oscar Wilde. |

a nice quote:
"There is a comparison of this dilemma of mixed patriotism to an example of ambivalence found in family life, or more specifically within a troubled family, with regard to the relationship between a father and his son. The son represents the "Patriot" and the father represents the "Nation". This is a logical comparison since the root word of "Patriotism" is the Greek word "pater", meaning father, and the word Nation being derived from "natio" or "by birth" (natal). The son, by instinct, is loyal to his father. But let's say that the father gets drunk sometimes and beats up the son for no reason; the son hates the father's unjust violation of their relationship. He is loyal to his father, yet he hates his father's misuse of authority. This is a personal analogy of the Ambivalent Patriotism that many Americans have toward their national government. Any worthless retard, no matter what country you live in, saying he wouldn't get off his lazy shiftless ass to defend and fight for his country epitomizes the ultimate insult and slap in the face of every war veteran that ever took up arms on your behalf.
If you don't understand that, you are a fuckwit. |

im native american. if we are invaded, i will pick up a gun and kill.
but im not gonna go fight a war just because some white man thinks it's a good idea. fuck whitey |
If anyone invaded US I would join right away, but I'm too old for overseas crap and I'm not sure most scenarios in the past really fall into 'Dying for your country' category. Maybe WW2 qualified for this, maybe. Depends on which books your read, I think.
|
FUCK no
I would never risk my life for my country god damnit, the only reason there is war is because of 2 assholes... (takes 2 to tango, you cant clap with one hand) Im not gonna get myself killed because they cant come up with an agreement :2 cents: |
