If someone offered you a gun and plane ticket to go to Iraq or Afghanistan or anywhere that we may have to go to fight next. Would you be willing to go right now, are you willing to fight for your country and risk your life?

I have to say, I would go, I don't think I would have to think twice about it, my country is a great place and I would be willing to pick up a weapon and fight for it to survive if I was needed.

Politics and all aside because I don't agree with the current administrations policies, I'm talking purely from a standpoint of whether you are willing to pick up arms and fight for your country if you were needed.

Been there, done that.... fuck that noise. I'll leave that to you young bucks. I'm all about enjoying the fuck outta every goddamned day I got left on this Earth. :)

The answer depends on the circumstances. If my country is involved in a conflict that I believe is worthwhile or necessary, I would be willing to risk my life for the cause. Despite all the bickering, I believe a greater good has been served in Iraq. Vietnam, however, was a bad joke. I would risk my life for my country but not for some political whim that serves no purpose I can understand.

One thing I note is that the leaders of countries.. the politicians & businessmen as you call them - seldom pay a price for war.

Saddam may come to mind, but even if he gets killed by the US, he's had a pretty good past 20 years running a country, I mean, he's got a fair bit of wealth & runs a country, not a bad deal for him.

Except, he should have taken the offer of exile and gone with that, he still could have lived like a king in first class luxury, just couldn't control a country
