acacia: we have a rat..

open your eyes..

You really think these guys google all day to find
'victems' for their little patent play?

Do you really think one of their mainstream consultants
did some research and ended up on GFY?

Nah.. we have a rat.. no wait.. im sure.

What if a smart industry indsider - old timer (let's say
in the league of.. uhm.. fantasyman?) realised this
adult game is about to end and decided to offer
some 'consultancy' to this company called Acacia?

Or maybe this whole 'Acacia' thing has it's origin in this industry?

They are not targetting adult because it's an easy industry to
pick on.. they target adult because it's their industry..

What other well known industry folks unexpectedly made
a deal with acacia?

dont want to sling mud, but maybe some of the people who have already settled reached a better agreement by turning over affiliates/colleagues.

rat or no rat, it doesn't really matter... as long as Acacia exists and continues to move forward with this shit, and assuming they aren't going to wake up one day and decide to stop, it's gotta eventually be played out in court one way or another.

of course it will help. in the end, it's going to come down to this lawsuit.

if they (acacia) loses, the rest is all just a bunch of noise. same if the reverse happens.

it'll help... if Acacia is going to push this all the way, which they'll obviously have to do sooner or later, they're going to come up against some big fucking people... people like Microsoft, Sony, the television networks, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc... the fucking NFL.... just to name a few. They're targetting adult right now because small time webmasters generally either can't afford to fight them, or simply aren't willing. They're building money right now by taking you guys out one webmaster at a time.

That won't last. There is no fucking way this shit will stand up against the mainstream heavy hitters. The whole thing is obviously fucking ridiculous, and all it takes is someone like the major news networks to make that clear in court.

Acacia's day will come.

VEry true AMP, very true

ytcracker 07-24-2003 05:37 PM

let's say that for the time being people to submit to acacia's demands and give them money.

at a later date, their patent is invalidated.

will this money be returned to those that ponied up the dough?

ROFL!!!

Acacia is spending your money to get the next guy's. You can't squeeze blood from a rock. If Acacia goes down it'll be the fastest bankruptcy filing in history. You'll never see a fucking dime.

Peaches 07-24-2003 05:42 PM

I can go to Google and put in any number of even remotely related sex keywords and be taken to hundreds of thousands of links which will take me to thousands and thousands of paysites.

With my trusty credit card, I join them, check to see if they have whatever video I might have a "patent" to (and I use that term loosely with these guys...), check the whois info, and BANG! Send them The Packet.

I could pay some horny college kid $15 an hour to do this for me and he could, if not distracted :winkwink: , come up with 20-30 sites A DAY for me.

There's NO NEED for a mole, folks - it's all right there! :(

My apologies for clipping your post that way, but that bit was very, very interesting. It made me stop and gasp! The monstrous enormity of it all overwhelmed me!!!

That is, until I remembered that we are not the sole targets after all, we just tend to feel that way at times because of short sightedness. http://news.com.com/2100-1023-983552.html

True.. but tell me.. if it's this insane and out of this world
why are leading adult companies, millionairs that normally raise hell over a $25 banner rip of (just a crazy example.. you know what i mean), seem to be eager to make a deal with Acacia to pay them a percentage of their hard earned cash.

This is all going a bit too easy.. unless Acacia has something in return for them we dont know about..

beats me... maybe they cut a deal, maybe they just didn't wanna deal with it... the old "throw money at it and make it go away" plan. Nobody likes being tied up in long ass court battles... that's obviously where the whole thing is headed. Maybe they just figured pay the fee for now and let someone else deal with them.

who knows... I couldn't tell ya what motivates the actions of others. But I betcha the mainstream corporate monsters don't roll so easily.

It doesn't really matter much who is turning in who - does it?

In fact, its probably a good thing for more people to have their packets and letters mailed to them, figuring that most of the people who have not could give 2 shits about any of this.

They are still running around saying "Acacia who?..."
or "I wont worry about any of this Acacia/IMPA stuff until I get my own licensing demand"

So by all means, turn in the whole damn crowd.

It will just mean more support for the IMPA in the end.

And for the true conspiracy theorists in the house:

Maybe the IMPA is actually Acacia!

Whenever you snap back to reality and realize that this whole thing is real, and these patents can be invalidated through the numerous forms of prior art out there, providing the IMPA has enough legal funding to fight that battle....

see my sig, and donate

I've said it before. I believe the "settlements" Acacia is getting from bigger webmasters and companies go something like this:

Acacia: "You never pay us a dime, ever, and you get to keep streaming all kinds of media until the end of time. In return, we get to tell people that you settled with us and scare everyone else into falling in line."
Settler: "OK."

I fully agree with this.... the more people that get served by Acacia, the more light will be shed on the whole thing. Eventually this will be on the nightly fucking news... because while they can continue to ignore the adult world, it's going to hit mainstream loud and proud one day soon.... so the more people that get served the better. Let's get the fucking show on the road I say and get this shit to the courts and get it fucking over with.

sherie 07-24-2003 05:54 PM

Yeah, cause there are loads of industry people with nothing better to do than do searches all day....especially those types of people that you mentioned, cause they have all day to sit around instead of say travel or golf etc. *rollseyes*

something like that, yes.

Acacia: "These patent claims are false but we can keep up appearances. Tell people that you settled with us and scare everyone else into falling in line. Well give you a percentage and it will eliminate some competition."
Settler: "OK."

quiet 07-24-2003 05:59 PM

for the adult internet business, it all boils down to the homegrown lawsuit. doesn't matter how many secret deals may or may not have been done with acacia by certain companies.

we need to see their patents invalidated in this lawsuit. i think it can be done.

You just gave me the idea that if everyone got their packets, gets pissed and puts some sort of cut&paste message (same message everywhere) on their servers for their VISITORS to see that eventually everyone in mass media, and mainstream corporations would be very aware of this now quiet battle.

Because nobody surfs the internet for porn right?

mrthumbs,
in the world according to the big guys,
it would be nice and dandy if 10 of them had paysites and the rest of you send traffic and just be affiliates...and Acacia is there possible way to achieve it

it makes all sense to them

You would probably want to make sure that you listed the many examples of prior art that will invalidate their patents.

You woudln't want a bunch of surfers getting the wrong idea thinking they could invest in the company and make some money because they have a solid plan.
