The petition, driven by industry experts, seeks to protect society from the "profound risks to society and humanity" that AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can provoke.

Specifically, the petition targets the lack of planning and management that is going into deploying these advanced AI models, in what the petition has called an "an out-of-control race" producing systems that its creators can't "understand, predict, or reliably control."

The petition has garnered over 1,100 signatures, including those of notable industry figures, such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability AI -- the company responsible for inventing stable diffusion.

Elon Musk just presented Optimus robot and sefl driving is a form of Ai.
They are putting a legal barrier so that new, potentially ethical developers can not enter.
But don't worry, I with my comrades will destroy the slavery pyramid. It is going to take time, but we will do it.

It depend on progress , because so far AI is still a retard with great memory .

But since you mentioned trading, AI should actually help to prevent crises , since trading is cold mathematical thing.

And when it comes to becoming dumber and dumber, well yes but that was a problem since digital calculator was invented and it can be easily prevented, by creating problems where creativity is needed as that is area where AI probably never will excel.

Which areas are you thinking of? Soon, the only fields where human creativity will be needed is at the top of this chain, nowhere else

I personally love AI. In the few months I've been fucking around with it, I've managed to do some amazing things on my own without any IT, coder, designer or copywriter guys help both professionally and with some of my hobbies.

Workflows improved insanely efficiently and supremely cost effectively. It's a fucking miracle for those who just want to get shit done without extra people involved and simply know how to prompt correctly.

I understand this sucks with some people's livelihoods, I get it. But this doesn't have to be the end of the world for you. You can become an electrician, plumber, carpenter, painter, general contractor, lawyer, get into healthcare, politics, open a taco stand, drive an ice cream truck, be a janitor, invest in real estate, etc. You don't have to be a victim just because you can't work on your laptop at Starbucks anymore.

Yesterday i ask Chat GTP to write me an introduction mainstream article about a health and wellness product.

10 seconds later i copy/paste the article to another AI site to create a video.

AI did create the article and create a promotional video for the product in question!

within 1 hour and some tweaking with the AI video creator site ET VOILA! done right away!

Before AI i have to pay from $150 to 200$ for one video on fiverr and can take up to a week for delivery.

LoL... no, that's not what I said. I used --seed and reference photos.

I don't think it would be as simple as 'pulling the plug'. Even if it were possible to save ourselves at the last mintue by doing something like that, imagine the catastrophic consequences if the entire globe had to 'go off grid' for weeks or maybe months and years.

I used to be cautiously optimistic about a possible Singularity happening in my lifetime, but AI is advancing so fast now, and appears on the point of creating the feedback loop of improving its own design, that things are happening just too quickly.
