Obama's officially a lame duck

Republicans take Senate majority

Will he ramp up executive orders and ensure his official demise?

His official demise? He's untouchable, he's got 2 years left as president - he can do nothing, just run out the clock or he can issue executive orders. I don't think Obama cares what he does to Hilary Clinton, he probably would like to see her go down - he knows the Clintons are going to talk shit about him.

If the Republicans run a moderate candidate they'll win the presidency too - Christie or Jeb Bush.

In the end who cares, the Republicans and Democrats are one in the same for the most part.

ReggieDurango 11-05-2014 12:00 AM

Hillary will be our next president.

I think if Hilary runs she will be very hard to beat. However, historically speaking often times after two terms of one party people are ready for a change. It will depend heavily on who the republicans end up with. If it is another rich, old white guy they will likely lose, but if they can find a moderate candidate who can pull in some of the minority vote they could have a chance.

Republican presidential candidates are stuck in a catch 22 like situation. They have to swing way to the right to win the nomination and it gets them absolutely crushed in the general election

Barry-xlovecam 11-05-2014 06:41 AM

Be careful for what you ask for -- you just might get it.

The Republicans next excuse will be the vetoes of their legislative initiatives.

All presidents are lame ducks in their last two years ... The House and Senate will not be able to override most, or any, presidential vetoes.

That will be very unfortunate for the US.

Remember George W Bush's consolatory speech in 2004 -- he said he would be the President of all the people ... How did that work out ...

Vendzilla 11-05-2014 08:38 AM

Hillary will be the new president unless the new congress can govern and they can't find anyone to run against her.

Can you believe she actually said that? She really would like everyone to work for the government. But that quote will be the Republican rallying point for the next election.

Making Bill the first lady...

TBH I consider Edith Wilson to have been the first female president...

"President Wilson suffered a severe stroke in October 1919. Edith Wilson began to screen all matters of state and decided which were important enough to bring to the bedridden president. In doing so, she functionally ran the Executive branch of the government for the remainder of the president's second term, until March 1921"

At 1.5 billion dollars in web site development and IT costs for a site that my team could have built for 2 million. All of said 1.5 billion that went into the pockets of Michelle Obamas college buddies who created 726 different shell corps to whore out the budget for the project and fuck the taxpayers over the highest amount of tax dollars to complete the project. Makes total sense.

And Obamacare isn't working. It's failing miserably.

This! :2 cents:

The Republicans did not get a super-majority. They have no power to over ride veto's.

In the next 2 years nothing will get done in Washington that benefits anyone of us.

All the bills that passed that they beat on their chests about will not be repealed or modified.

America will still have the Affordable Healthcare Act and all those other bills that are so bad for our country according to the Republicans.

There will be no benefit of any type for the Average American from this election.

The "Party of NO" will suffer through 2 years of hearing their own favorite word.

And here is the best part, the losers in this election and B.O. will still collect their large pensions that resulted from their service in office and nothing will change.

...8 years later:
"Oh, the shit the Republicans tried didn't work too well...let's try the Dems this time"

WTF?

STOP voting for Republicans and Democrats. They are pretty much one and the same in the big picture of things.

If you want to know why things don't ever REALLY change...it's because citizens are afraid of REAL change, and the 2 party system takes full advantage of it to stay in power.

On this mid-term election...I went in and voted against every incumbent on the ballot.

Any choices I had for an independent or Libertarian candidate I voted for them.
On the rest of the ballot I voted for whomever was NOT the incumbent. So other than the independents and Libertarians, I voted mostly Democrat because it was mostly Republican incumbents on the ballot here.

For the elections for judges they don't list party affiliation. So I voted against any of the names that I recognized as "incumbent" (or whatever they call a sitting judge) and the ones I was unfamiliar with, I voted for the woman in the race (mostly family court judges).

The TEA party is not the problem. TEA stands for "Taxed Enough Already".

It's the religious right that is the problem for the Republican Party not the TEA party members.
It's ALWAYS the Republicans bowing down to the religious right that destroys them on social issues.

The TEA party has nothing to do with social issues and is all about what the Republican Party was SUPPOSED to be: Lower taxes and smaller govt.

Huh???

My insurance has skyrocketed in the last two years. I'm now paying $976 a month for a family of 3. And we are all very healthy.

People in the USA who actually work for a living aren't getting it for "free" on "taxpayers cost"
We ARE the taxpayers AND we are also having our insurance jacked up. :(

It was a great idea in theory I guess: "We will have the whole country on insurance and that will create a bigger pool of insured and bring costs down"
Only the opposite happened.
Everybody who can get away with it is getting it subsidized by the govt. instead of paying for it.

So now, the cost goes up for hard working people. :(

And that is the wrath that the Democrats are now facing from the voters.

The chickens have come home to roost for the Dems on this one.

I'll guarantee that Hillary and Bill will come up with a plan to "fix" ObamaCare in 2016 for the election.
She is going to need to distance herself as far away as she can from Obama (which is why she quit as Sec. of State...to give herself distance for 2016)

i know i am not american - and i don't say that right wing religious nutjobs carry no blame - but saying that people like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Marco Rubio etc. are not part of the problem seems highly unlikely.

(and i forgot the name of the dude that made them all sign that they would never under any circumstance agree to any kind of higher taxes - no matter if it made sense or not)

But those people are not TEA Party members.

Palin and Bachman are religious nutcases.

Marco Rubio is just a Republican. Can't say he's an extreme religious nut...but in my opinion ALL people who run around babbling about "faith" in "Jesus" are either stupid or pandering to stupid people for votes.

People like Palin, Bachman, and other longtime Republicans who try to associate themselves with the Tea Party are just doing it to get votes.

They aren't real TEA party people at all.

As for higher taxes in the U.S., it doesn't make ANY sense to keep giving our govt. more and more money.

The revenues to the U.S. govt. are astronomical. And a big percentage of it is total waste and fraud.
I also wonder how many BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars the U.S. govt. has spent so far "collecting" all of our emails, phone calls, etc.

No, they need LESS money. Maybe start with the "Defense" Dept and strip that fucker down.
Then start cutting the waste and fraud.

Look at Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Senators are supposed to represent the people in Washington and SERVE.

Here's how he "serves":
Base Salary: $193,400

Health Care: Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB) and pays the lowest premiums in the country

Personal Staff Allowance: Hires up to 60 staff members (WTF???) with the top salary being $156,848 (as of 2005) and up to $75,000 that can be shifted to his own "Expense Allowance"

Expense Allowance: Expenses such as stationary, business cards, newsletters, domestic travel and lodging, and communication expenses

Franking Privilege – This privilege allows the Sen. to send mail free from postage so long as it is interacting with the recipient in the context of being a citizen of the United States.

Foreign Travel – Harry Reids foreign travel expenses are covered in this allowance, which also includes free use of any military air craft.

--------------------------
Wow. That's just ONE Sen.

I don't think the Founding Fathers EVER envisioned someone living the high life at taxpayer expense like this.

That is the kind of thing the TEA Party wants to see ended.

And I agree with them on that 100%
