The movies used to be a great escape from the realities of every day life. Now all these louts are there texting and doing all kinds of bullshit, to remove the viewing experience, you should be entitled to, when you paid your admission:2 cents: Althought I do not condone the violence, I can sort of understand , where the guy's coming from:2 cents:

I'm sorry I hate people texting or talking during movies but I don't believe that gives anyone the right to take someones life..

I have np saying if you break into my house I will kill you but to say if you text while I'm trying to watch a movie I think you should be shot dead?

I'd pay extra to go to a theatre where cell reception was jammed, babies weren't allowed and black women had to wear ball-gags.

some in Phoenix jam cell reception as I found out as I was leaving and trying to return a missed call (after the movie was over). I always mute my phone when I enter.


I just saw it was a retired cop.. that makes sense. They think anytime they are wronged they should shoot first and make sure he isn't around to answer questions later..

There was some speculation that the shooter may have gone out to his vehicle to retrieve the murder weapon, in which case, the charges may be bumped up from 2nd to 1st degree Homicide.

Yet another very sad and unnecessary gun violence story... :(

It seems like every time i go see a movie some cunt is talking all the way through. A few weeks ago some cunt talking in a full cinema and people where shouting shut the fuck up for at least 45min in to the movie.

I think he clearly said (and that is obvious) that he is not in favor of killing.
He understands how this could be annoying and turn into quarrel. And then escalated from that..

I am wondering why isn't there a rule that such customers should be thrown out of the movie without getting the money back.
Anyone suggested that?

The only things there are more of in FL than gun shops is churches, fast cash stores and pawn shops. Half of the the pawn shops are gun shops as well.

Yes they did! But now you have to be worried about being shot by crazy men at openings or just stupid old men.. I use to love to go to midnight and opening night showings but not anymore..

One instance and you draw broad conclusions that nowdays its more likely to meet crazy people in cinema than some other year back in the day?
This can happen anywhere - get into quarrel with crazy man with a gun.
As if it is more likely for you to be shot in cinema just because of this instance. Use more sense and less emotions.

If I can't enjoy a movie I paid for that's just like stealing from me. The guy texting stole from everyone in the theater and he didn't give a shit.

Would have never happened to me. In public I'm polite, courteous to others, aware of my surroundings and the expected behavior in a given situation. I can also live with my cell phone in the car for 3 hours.

Not saying he deserved to get shot but he wasn't just sitting there either.

Whatever the guys response was to the reasonable request to stop using his cell phone it was enough to get a seasoned cop pissed enough to get a gun and shoot him dead. There's a lesson there somewhere.

in korea and in china people take phone calls...text..everything..it is so widespread there is no use trying to stop it.

Thank goodness the Constitution allows responsible people like retired ex-Police Captain Curtis Reeves, Jr., to have and carry a loaded gun into a movie theater so they can use deadly force to defend themselves in case another person annoys them by talking/texting during the movie previews, or (gasp) assaults them with popcorn. :disgust

YUP! It was said he left the theater for some reason maybe load his gun or to tell someone that he was txting at a time BEFORE the movie started when everyone still talks during the previews.. Then came back and got into a fight with this couple.

He could've simple moved to a different seat if he thought that guy might keep texting during the movie.

This guy doesn't look like the young punks that normally txt during a movie.. and for those that say then he shouldn't even text during previews.. who knows maybe next time someone like this will see someone txting while getting their popcorn.. the texter sits down around this crazy guy and he assumes he will continue txting..

Just sad that this little girl will grow up without a dad cause of this old guy..

In films Florida always seems to be overrun with alligators but I never realised how much water there actually is. Just looked at google maps to get an idea where this place is and there just seems to be lakes everywhere.

I do quite a lot of AA meetings and it amazes me how someone texting apparently "annoys" and/or "distracts" other people there. wtf, how????

If you choose to focus on someone sitting there silently texting while you are listening to whomever, then moan about how it's 'distracting', you need shooting - not the other way around...
