Years from now, blacks will look back and say,,,,,

We got ripped off. We thought this was great music? What the fuck where we thinking?

Bryan G 11-28-2013 12:52 PM

Pretty sure more whites than blacks buy his music and pay to go to his shows.

L-Pink 11-28-2013 12:53 PM

I know what I'm thinking, lol.

I keep reading that Kanye West is "cutting edge" and a "genius".

He certainly has made some money.

But that "song" sounds like something a kid would do on a computer. Where's the actual "music"? And what the hell is the song trying to say other than using the "n" word to be "cool"?

Ain't exactly Bob Dylan level lyrics. Kanye is no poet for sure.

J. Falcon 11-28-2013 02:17 PM

He's a creative genius.

DBS.US 11-28-2013 02:24 PM

I think he has a marketing team that genius.:2 cents:

See? He's supposed to be a "genius". :)

Can he play music? No.
Can he sing? No.
Are his lyrics on the same level as the greats? No.

But he's a "genius" :)

millions and millions of people do like his work though.

if hes a genius or not is debatable ;)

Robbie 11-28-2013 02:36 PM

I'd say in keeping with the OP's point:
Theolodius Monk was a GENIUS

Miles Davis...a GENIUS

Robert Johnson: yep, a GENIUS

Creatively, musically, ability-wise, and in every way... those guys and thousands more incredible black musicians were and are on a level that the clowns like Kanye being pushed down our throats aren't even CLOSE to being.

He's just another no-talent, no ability fool doing a shuffle for the amusement of white people.

The only credit I give him is he is rich, and I love his wife's giant fat ass.

Other than that? He's no "creative genius". Louis Armstrong was a pioneering "cutting edge" genius. Kanye can't even play a kazoo.

I doubt he has ever made anything that would pass as "great music"... :2 cents:

Edit: That vid/song is horrific.

JockoHomo 11-28-2013 02:39 PM

Regardless of race the one thing that people who buy his "music" have in common is a total lack of taste in music.

Robbie 11-28-2013 02:44 PM

Kanye has sold 8 million albums worldwide in his career. Not bad. And the reason he is rich.

Of course KISS has sold over 100 million albums worldwide!

And Elvis Presley has sold over 2.5 BILLION albums worldwide.

In comparison...Kanye is just a pissant.

I'm not a fan if his but you are wrong.

He was a producer before he was front and centre. Produced for jay z, Beyoncé and a ton of other hip hop artists.

So claiming he can't play music is wrong.

2MuchMark 11-28-2013 03:18 PM

I've bought a couple of his songs from iTunes...

Again you are talking nonsense. When KISS and elvis made records people actually bought them at record stores. No one does that now.

Bryan G 11-28-2013 03:21 PM

How many kayne songs have been downloaded on itunes vs KISS in the past 5 years?

Lots of people have produced big hit records. Most of them can play music.

What instruments does Kanye West play with ANY proficiency?

Jeff "Mutt" Lange is a much better producer and sold far more music behind the producers chair (from AC/DC, to Def Leppard, to Shania Twain) than Kanye ever did or ever will. And he can PLAY and sing too.

And if you want to talk about itunes downloads...Okay. He is dwarfed by Taylor Swift if that puts him in perspective for ya.

Bottom line I'm making is, that as the OP first stated...one day ALL people, not just black, will wonder what the hell we were thinking by glorifying this kind of "artist" who is pretty much talentless.

He and his wife both share that: They are both multi-millionaires with no talent or abilities that set them apart.
At least she has a giant ass. :)

Bryan G 11-28-2013 04:07 PM

Robbie, you're right he is no guitar god such as yourself.

You don't consider being able to produce music a talent?

There you go again talking about the past lol. Of course mutt lange has produced bands that have sold more music. When people BOUGHT albums. Can you even name a kayne song without googling it?

Bryan G 11-28-2013 04:11 PM

Just for the record he can play piano and drums.

Dunno why I am defending him but whatever lol.

georgeyw 11-28-2013 04:12 PM

My brother and his mates listen to all of this crap.

They are the types of idiots who wear skinny jeans with crotches to their knees and they're in their 30's. In other words, wannabe hipster shit sticks...

I really never understood how that is music, but hey at the same time, the people who like kanye, think AC-DC is shit and I think that is the best band to have ever played anything.

Bryan G 11-28-2013 04:25 PM

Have an open mind when it comes to music. I love it all. From the Beatles to ACDC to Jay Z to Oasis to Marley to Rod Stewart to chemical brothers. I could go on. It's all fantastic on its own way.

whOaKemosabe 11-28-2013 04:26 PM

i don't like kanye but this vid is tight

The Kanye video in the first post is atrocious on almost every level... :eek2 :helpme

I don't like the persona he tries to project, but some of Kanye's older stuff isn't bad:

At least he's met his match in attention whoring shallowness by hooking up with Kim K... :1orglaugh

Bryan G, yes there is good music from many different genres. But "no". It is not "all fantastic in it's own way"

A lot of it is crap that is shoved down our throats by the corporate suits.

Kanye is one of those in my opinion.

That's all I'm saying.

And when I asked if he could play any instruments...remember, I qualified that with PROFICIENCY.
My guess is that he can barely play any at all. If he could his own "music" wouldn't sound that way.

I'm not gonna argue music styles and trends. I've always been big on keeping up with the latest big thing.
But Kanye is pretty poor on my list of "artists".

And so are any of these clowns who don't have any real musical ability or singing talent.
From where I sit, they are a joke.

Every era of music, art, and literature has had it's "Greats". And those "greats" are few and far between. 99.99% of all art, music, and literature from any era is...trash.

And that's where talentless fools who can neither play or sing are at. Trash.

I'll guarantee you that the majority of people who have ever purchased Kanye music did so out of the hype that the corporate suits set up ahead of time before the album even dropped.

And as you alluded to earlier...most of them are probably white "wiggers" who want to try and be "relevant" and hip.

And as the OP pointed out...Blacks have a rich history in music. Some of the greatest of the modern era. Jazz, blues, soul...they really were GENIUSES.

I've already mentioned a few. There are a LOT more.

Bottom line is...no matter how many ITunes downloads Kanye may or may not have: He isn't even a pale shadow in comparison to a guy like Marvin Gaye. Neither in musicianship, singing ability, or producing.

Marvin Gaye was a true monster genius and groundbreaking artist who actually spoke for an entire generation of black people.

Kanye is a clown by comparison to the real giants who came before him.

That is of cause, if you can class hip hop as music!

I'm fairly sure people weren't buying albums much in 2008 - yet Mutt Lange produced Nickelback's "Dark Horse" and sold 8 million albums worldwide.

Let me put my scarf on for a second and respond:

"But, but...how many Itunes downloads did he sell? I'm not defending Kanye by the way (while actually defending him in every reply) "

Heh-heh-heh
Just breaking your balls Bryan G. No offense meant. :)
