One thing that the US never won at was trying to bring what they call "football" to the rest of the world.

the nfl international series has sold out every game so far.

i haven't even heard about it - and i actually played american football back in Germany for a little while and still watch at least the superbowl

it used to be somehow popular for a short time in the 90ties with the Euro League Football - i think JC from OCCash played in Germany for a while

but since then it completely disappeared again, most of the teams i knew from back then don't exist anymore

it is like it is - you guys will never be crazy about football (soccer), we will never really embrace american football and baseball

sounds good to me. i do know the nfl has targeted britain for the international series, after mexico, the bigger opp is asia, *they* say it will happen but apparently the logistics and such mean it won't happen for quite a while.

either way, i've never understood the argument about a sport's name or shape of the ball,e tc. wo likes it and why.....it was a sport created ~100 years ago, it's evolved. nevertheless, some of the highest scoring american football players are the kickers.

It's one game per year and the marketing budget is incredible. It is also strategically held in London, UK which has a large amount of North American people living there. Not to take anything away from American Football, I enjoy watching it and go to games, but if there was 20 games a season in London, the excitement would drop off pretty fast IMO. I'm a huge Football fan, it will never be bettered by any sport for me but I'm pretty open about watching new sports. Since moving to Canada I've really got into Hockey and NFL, it will never be as popular outside of North America tho as Football.

I don't like soccer rules/regulations - they don't use record replay, like american football refs do. Entire world can see it was fucking score and ball crossed goal line(because TV repeated it 100 times from different angles), but NO, fucking refs didn't see it. Or shame Maradona hand-made-goal. "Touch of the God"? Fuck you! It is SHAME!

I've wanted us to sell him since before all that, you're right he is a cunt, I also believe that even though he is skilled, that overall he has a detrimental effect on team play. I'd much prefer a few players simply passing the ball and putting it into the net, rather than some incredible dribble from him which results in the ball being blasted straight at the keeper. I always had the feeling that if he scores he thinks he's won, even if Liverpool lose.
