Should we take our money out of the banks and put it under our mattress? They said people were already starting to make a run on banks. My Bank went from $45 a share down to $2.02 in less than a year. Should this be a sign that Washington Mutual is on the brink of a collapse?

On the news it said the FDIC had 50 Billion to cover the banks but that they were expecting they'd need 1 trillion to cover the banks.

Meaning... there was no where near enough FDIC money to cover us.

So...

What do we do?

I dunno. I've never been thru anything like this before. That's why I was asking Baddog. Wouldn't I still at least have my cash? If the bank collapses, would I still be able to get my $$$?

Gov issued/backed money vs. Money being backed by gold. In short, all these people that buy gold think they can use it to survive on if the U.S. eco/market drops out from under itself.

BTW, I'm making a run on my bank tomorrow. I'm pulling it all out. I dunno what I'll do with it, but of the 3 major banks in my area, WaMu, WellsFargo, and BofA, only WaMu is taking a huge dump right now. They look like they could collapse any day.
