this suprises you? :eek7

12 out of 175 isn't too bad but it seems to only be determined by life expectancy and economy. So it is not a big surprise the US has fallen 4 spots since last year.

BVF 11-27-2007 08:03 AM

dude...is your blog permanently shut down? I can't get to it.

Yeah, there'll always be a rational reason for it, unless the US was number 1 in which case, any other country who wasn't would be just making up excuses.

CDSmith 11-27-2007 08:09 AM

Oh Canadaaa

Joe BrainCash 11-27-2007 08:14 AM

Do you really believe that?

"Rich free-market countries dominate the top places, with Iceland, Norway, Australia, Canada and Ireland the first five but the United States slipping to 12th place from eighth last year in the U.N. Human Development Index."

Im sure this is like most adult awards - its based more on popularity and advertising than actual numbers/votes

SarahLLO 11-27-2007 08:18 AM

Iceland, huh?

I still inexplicably want to move to Norway, even though I've never been there.

xmas13 11-27-2007 08:21 AM

I'm surprised Saudi Arabia doesn't top the list.

wyldworx 11-27-2007 08:26 AM

i would've hoped it didn't make it in the top 100.

Spent enough time in Saudi Arabia to know it is an interesting place to visit, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to live there.

OG LennyT 11-27-2007 08:56 AM

Thank goodness, maybe people will go elsewhere now.

Got no plans to live in the top 20 countries on the HDI - nevermind Iceland :)

Don't think I'll live longer, have increased gender enpowerment or increase wealth by moving to any of them - probably the opposite :winkwink:

Apparently the american warning of us allowing gay marriage and smoking weed has turned Canada into a horrible country. Better dollar and now top marks to live in. Maybe USA should adopt a few things like smoking weed to relax a bit more?

9 out of 10 experts agree... 99.9% of the people who believe "The United States is the best country in the world" do not hold passports and the remaining 0.01% works for the Bush administration.

Canada hasn't legalized weed (unfortunately) :2 cents:

Adult-biz 11-27-2007 10:31 AM

Great to see Ireland near the top (and consistently high in various polls in recent years). Fully deserved. :)
