Full moon cycles and wackos

Although I realize modern science has never proven a direct cause-and-effect between the full moon cycle and an increase in wacky human behavior, but there are many times I really question their conclusions.

Any one else think there's definitely some connection between a full moon and craziness?

Spunky 10-26-2007 08:08 PM

I see it in women all the time..crazy she devils

After Shock Media 10-26-2007 09:05 PM

No and I follow the science of it as well.

People just recall it better due to rarity of the full moon. Though people will hop in here and post stats (ussually wrong or disproven) about ER's or 911 calls etc. Hell even cops and paramedics fall for that shit, despite stats showing otherwise.

Fuck even many people think the moon is closer (looks bigger) when full, though if you tilt your head or look at it upside down it will shrink back up again.

Nevermind I am rambling. :)

BOSS1 10-26-2007 09:57 PM

I belive its due to pressue, while it has not been directly proven .. statisticly it has.

Another possible theory is the moonlight, it is so bright you dont want to sleep it gives u an ennoying kind of energy

crockett 10-26-2007 10:03 PM

My mom is a nurse and she used to work at a psychiatric hospital and she claims it's true. She said anytime they had a full moon the patients were much more trouble.

Again many nurses, police, etc all say it is so. It again boils down to a rarity of a full moon versus memory. Full moons stand out better in ones mind.

Fuck I better ingnore this thread, little peeve of mine. Though crap nevermind just about to mention moon has same pull as someone holding a pebble over your head.

the moon is 3/4 of the reason we have tides...
I believe we are made up of at least 80% water and when the moon is at its peak things get a little more intense for two legged mammals.

It looks like they said pretty much what I did. No I didn't come up with the idea myself:) but the "tide" idea has been around for awhile ... makes sense considering we are part of the earth .... and the universe if you really want to get deep.

Yes though the actual amount of total gravitational pull on a human is so finitely small that it makes no real statistical difference. As I said about the same as if someone held a pebble about a foot over your head.

We are 80 percent water, though please keep in mind we are also not the size of a large lake let alone an ocean. Both of which are also effected by the turning of the Earth as well as the moon, though the moon is moving away and has been since the planets collided in the first place.

BlondeBecks 10-26-2007 11:27 PM

I completely believe that the moon has something to do with craziness when it's full.......I have seen it too many time no tto believe it!!!

When was the last crazy incident you seen during a waxing or a new moon?

Specially new moons people, please let me know of the insanity that happens during new moons.

I see what you're saying. I live right next to the pacific though. Shit gets hairy round heeeah ! :1orglaugh Maybe things get a little more involved next to large bodies of water ?

Deputy Chief Command 10-26-2007 11:47 PM

I am 100% sure it does affect behaviour in a way . . just like the tides are affected by the stance of the moon human behaviour is aswell

If that is the case please respond with new moon stories please :winkwink: I am saying its purely a memory thing, other wise prove me wrong with above stories.

Damn I am not even 100% (around 99%) sure and I am arguing my ass off. Though again I will ask for your new moon stories.

:1orglaugh I really can't think of any. Sometimes though on a full moon I feel more aggravated then usual.:1orglaugh I do remember once though downtown full moon some guy got "knocked the fuck out" in the street so hard we heard his skull crack on the pavement when he went down. It's like that every weekend though sometimes. I can't say your wrong though. I'm not a scientist.

I shall highlight something for you. See where you said remembered?

Now on to the new moons :) *you may have an idea why I am asking this.

Cops and paramedics tend to put stock in the full moon effect perhaps because they are the ones who have to deal directly with the lunatic fringe on a daily basis.

With all due respect ASM, I don't think stats always reveal an accurate assessment of the phenom. I tend to give more weight to anecdotal stories from those who closely work closely with people on the street at all hours of the day and night.

But that's just me.

I have a lot of cop buddies I talk to on a daily basis, many of whom I consider highly intelligent and not prone to exaggeration or embellishment. And some of the stories I hear about their experiences during full moon cycles always makes me pause to think.

Our local police department sometimes puts additional manpower on shift during full moon phases, just to handle the anticipated weirdness and additional incident calls.

You mentioned in one of your replies about "supernatural". I don't put it in that sort of category, though. I think if anything...its purely scientific - having to do with the minute effects of lunar gravitational effect on the fluids in the brain.

I often work a nightshift myself and see a correlation between the lunar cycle and the mentality/attitudes of people I encounter during the course of the evening.

i love the smell of pussy during a fool moon :thumbsup

There is strong anecdotal evidence.

I know your job, I want to believe (ok I am not mulder, but I do).
Just because people waste money or put extra men on does not mean it is true. Hell case in point, how many X-ray offerings will pop up this Halloween in regards to candy yet AGAIN?
What about popular wivestales or urban legends as well?

However if that is still highly held, someone please show me the increased stats during a new moon. Since obviously there should be some, we are 80% water after all and the gravity does pull on the tides right? (just using same arguements).

I really don't get you. They tried everything to show a relation between weird stuff happening and a full moon and failed. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever this full moon thing actually does something to humans. They have studied if there are more accidents happening, more people going to the ER, more police needed etc etc. Everything they tried and resulted in nothing!

And yet you come here saying that you think its possibly true??

Really, who are you trying to fool? Its really kind of stupid to ignore the facts and just keep hoping its true, because thats what you are doing. Many people want it to be true.

The question asked was " Any one else think there's definitely some connection between a full moon and craziness? "

Look at the picture and you will see that the bar in the background is called the " Full Moon " and the guys on the motobikes are " cycling " past the " Full Moon ". Now look at the red truck. Notice that it has TWO front ends. What looks like the front is really the rear. See the red tail lights where the head lights should be. It is actually driving from right to left. That makes that truck " Wacky ".

So this picture is proof positive that things do get wacky as they cycle around the full moon :1orglaugh
