...and the etiquette of how you should treat the royals.

:winkwink:

Hehe.. can always rely on George as a source of amusement :winkwink:

If it's not one thing it will be another - either giving Angela Merkel a massage, being "usually familiar" with Putin or trying to cover his gaffs by winking at the Queen - the boy never fails :)

I agree with you.

Funny that this "world leader" provides this much amusement and fodder.

:upsidedow

I usually hate Bush but I don't see what's the problem here.

Who the fuck is the queen to us? Nobody. The chick is a figurehead at best. We went to war with the royals many years ago back when they counted and you expect us to have any kind of respect for their fake assed monarchy? Ha! Fuck them.

There's so much wrong with your diatribe I really don't know where to begin - but I'm sure you'll work around your ignorance eventually. :Oh crap

Sigh, another pro-royal/anti-monarchy argument in the offing...

Please, give it a rest.

Pornwolf 05-07-2007 06:04 PM

Go eat some biscuts.

CheneyRumsfeld 05-07-2007 06:05 PM

would've been one hell of a lot better if they had let the queen visit with Larry the Cableguy.

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2007 05:35 AM

Nobody but a few very select Royalists would have a real problem with it. I am also in no way a Bush fan either but I didn't see anything wrong with it. If he had gone to the Palace and not followed protocol that would be different but she was a guest in his house - his rules.

v4 media 05-08-2007 06:24 AM

The beauty of the monachy is we don't have to vote every 4 years for whoever has the most $$ to waste on a campaign, personally the queen has never fucked up, she does her job well.

And the US and Japanese tourists spend a fortune coming
to London to see her.. hehe

By a few years back... did you mean 300 years ago?

Sydney Sin 05-08-2007 06:47 AM

exactly - who cares
and why do we have a queen anymore anyways? she's useless to us.

I always think of David Allan Coe whenever the queen is mentioned.

"Why the Queen of England, gave me the key
To the whole damn country of France
And it only took me fifteen minutes
To get into her pants"

from I Made Linda Lovelace Gag

Can you also let em know that the Queen is not in a habit of executing folks by decapitation? :)

Was actually asked in the US about the numbers of people the Queen orders the "head chopping" each year *LOL* ,,,

Was speechless and tried really hard not to laugh and explained that the UK differs from the US in that way and there is no death sentence :1orglaugh

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2007 12:55 PM

well, it isn't like other Queens haven't ordered heads to be chopped off or even had their own heads chopped off. Also not like it has been that long - history wise - since the last UK execution.

True Sarah - tho the last time any monarch ordered a beheading was before the US was ever heard of. History obviously was not a strong point :winkwink:

The UK death penalty was abolished formally in the 60's and the Human Rights Act (1998) adopted the "no death penalty" as part of that treaty - tho most participating countries already had terminated death sentences by that time.

Interesting that the scenario is the reverse in the US where the death penalty was reinstated around 30 years ago and since that time around 1000 people were terminated. As an aside, a friend has been a witness to a few US executions - as case officer in most, but a friend in two. After the numbers of publicised "botched executions", I asked if any of them were botched - but no, they went off relatively peacefully. Also asked if the gutty feeling was that they should all be executed, - generally yes (knew of the exact details of the crime), but in a few instances, definately not - but it's the law.

WhiplashDug 05-08-2007 01:37 PM

LOL... who's history is not a stong point?

Between 1900 and 1949, 621 men and 11 women were executed in England and Wales.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital...United_Kingdom

And dont knock the US executions.. its not the exectuions that are the problem.. its the justice system that has been perverted by the lawyers.. as they(as a whole) tend to do to everything they touch.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
As long as its on her own shores!
America has enough EGOS to deal with on her own!

I think Webby was referring to executions that the reigning monarch actually had a say or involvement in.

The subject was the Queen beheading people - duh?? :winkwink:

WhiplashDug 05-08-2007 01:51 PM

Well then, in that case, carry on!

You know that I agree about the death penalty but apart from that why should the average American have excessive knowledge of British history beyond that which directly effects American history? Don't get me wrong, I had to learn more British history in high school than most British kids do these days but I guarantee you most British people have very little knowledge of American history ..particularly smaller details. So, I don't get why those Americans that asked you those questions were too out of line. It isn't the same as thinking Paris is in the UK or something.

Yeah and I can understand that..part of it is your history (the point where we beat your bums..j/k) but other than that it isn't your history so it is in a way a specialist subject. My step daughter was doing her A level in history and pretty much all she learned was WW2 and and bit of the Kings and Queens.

Just trying to remember elementary school days Sarah :winkwink: Always did well in history *lol* Yes, there was history coverage of the US, but suppose it was literally "textbook" stuff - and prob not a lot of detail or actual time spent on it. The US sure has a lot more "history" than was ever taught in schools and some very interesting eras.

It's kinda hard to even think of any western monarch who beheads folks on an annual basis tho :winkwink: This was a genuine/serious question and was just amazed that anyone in the western world actually thought this - anywhere.

At the same time - your Paris/UK thought - sure, that actually does exist as well. I was also asked (after having discussed the geo location at great length for delivery of some computers) if a Caribbean island was in the Indian Ocean :1orglaugh Even worse, this was from a guy in Florida who knew where the Caribbean is and the island was only a few hundred miles off US shores. Makes ya wonder :winkwink:

Sure.. know this is not in any way representative - it just kinda hits ya in the face with some of the strange thoughts people come out with. That was immediately noticeable when we first moved to Florida and hit baseline with terms like "before you start to decorate, you must open the can of paint" Yeah??? :winkwink: But... they were nice folks, so better to shut up :)

shekinah 05-08-2007 02:33 PM

Nice wink,:1orglaugh, could've been much better if he's tounged-out
