US Army/Navy/Marines Draft in effect...You Showing up?
 

The US armed forces are pretty strapped....if we decide to take on iran/north korea/pakistan/lebanin and a draft is put into effect..will you show u if your nimber is picked?.

Let Dubya and his cronies, or better yet, their kids, serve on active duty on the front lines as enlisted infantry soldiers - then they may not get us into all the shit that they do, or at the very least, they will take action to stop needless deaths and injuries.

The all volunteer military is a disaster. Look closely at who is dying in Iraq - Disproportionately kids from rural areas and poor inner city youth that don't have very good employment options.

The draft is not much better, since the children of the Dubya's, the Cheney's and the Rumsfeld's, can all find deferements or loopholes to keep them out of harms way if they wish to, just as their father's did for them.

If I felt this country was in emminent danger, then I would enlist and serve again, even if I were not required to. Unfortunately, at times it appears that some in our own government pose the greatest danger to the people of this country.

if you already served and are not on inactive you do not get called up.

i served 5 years active and 3 years inactive.

i'm now over the age limit as well.

all males between 18 and 27 are in that draft zone if they havent served.

I'd serve my country...

Things would have to get a hell of a lot worse than they are now for there to be another draft.

I'm past even the June 2006 update that put the max age at 42. But I've had personal phone calls wanting "civilian contractors" due to a number defense engineering jobs I've worked on in the past.

Bah! The British forces have been a token force in Iraq since the war started nearly four years ago (3/20/03). Their current massive 7,100 member force has mostly been protecting their own barracks (plans have already been announced to cut their troops to 5,500 in the near future as a prelude to their ultimate withdrawal).

True, the British have lost something like 134 soliders so far in Iraq, the vast majority being enlisted personnel. On average, more police officers die in the U.S. each year than that.

The U.S. population is approximately five times greater that the U.K., yet we have twenty times as many troops in combat and have suffered fatalities at approximately 30 times the number which British troops have.

In fairness to the UK, they represent more than 50% of the non-US coalition.

The raw truth is the idea of a "coalition" is, and has always been a facade, to create an illusion to the American people that we have allies helping us in Iraq, when in fact no other country besides Britain ever had more than 3,300 troops (that would be South Korea, which likes to keep its troops battle ready - they are now down to 2,300 troops, with plans to withdraw 1,100 additional troops in the near future).

Prince Harry in Iraq represents a greater threat to his fellow troops by being a high value target, instead of being any kind of a difference maker in the war and the future of Iraq. If nothing else, I hope that he gets dusted up a little, and comes away with some practical knowledge about the stupidity of the leadership in the US and UK that have brought our countries to this point.

too bad I had a legal problem that stopped me from going.. scored 98% on the ASVAB.. fucking was so pissed I couldn't go.

But I dislike ppl who say they would love to blast fuckers with 50 cals, etc, etc.

Most ppl who have been in combat and come back say the killing, mamming part was the worst.... Once you've done it - you sure don't talk about it much..

oh and btw, don't know if you would see the towel turn red much as a 50 cal round would blow there head to shreads...

God I remember all the shooting in germany, would accidently fire a few hundred rounds into the forest or open landings and see all those blown up deer, sad....

Not only would they take you now, but they are waiving a lot of criminal charges. So go for it.

when I joined the army I was all about killin people too. YEAH MAN THIS IS FUCKING FUN SHIT. LETS GO BLOW SOME SHIT UP !!! then your first day of boot camp completely changes your attitude. then you realize you spend more time cleaning shit then shooting shit fuck it ....

Scoring high on the ASVAB and other military tests generally gets you on a Staff command, not on the front lines. I never went on a ship except for in-port inspections during my six years in the Navy. The rest of the time I was mostly a desk jockey that got to travel around Asia on the taxpayers dime banging local hookers (not a bad gig if you can get it).
