PussyCash/ImLive comment regarding the Zango issue

Ok Guys here is the comment from PussyCash/ImLive regarding the Zango issue:

ImLive/PussyCash does not use Zango's software services or any similar software. We think that the way it might be used is unethical. Thus - in addition to the fact that we avoid using it - we forbid our webmasters to use it as well.

In case you run into companies or webmasters using Zango or similar software in order to divert traffic from ImLive/PussyCash to other websites, or in order modify the traffic's source thus unlawfully enjoying its payouts, or to divert traffic from other sites to ImLive/PussyCash - please inform ImLive/PussyCash staff, so we can handle this matter.

Adam

nice one guys. I really hope Zango goes away soon. I cleaned a friends computer the other day and found 26 instances of Zango. Bullshit. Once again props to Pussycash for making a good decision for all.

DjSap 10-23-2006 06:58 AM

nice statement...it's kind of surprising how many sites use zango, would have thought most of them would think it would be a bad pr move...

jayeff 10-23-2006 07:09 AM

Very good to read.

Are you also taking any proactive steps to catch webmasters who ignore your rules, or are you depending entirely on reports from other webmasters?

will76 10-23-2006 09:27 AM

Bump... this one needs to stay on the front page for a while so every knows....

Datinggold, imlive, and iwantu do not support "adware" and if you see anyone one using "adware" to promote their sites please report it to them, they will cancel the affiliate.

AFF / Cams continues to support "adware".

BabeHunter 10-23-2006 09:30 AM

Good to hear

xdcdave 10-23-2006 09:32 AM

Awesome to hear, I'm getting more PussyCash links up because of this.

scottybuzz 10-23-2006 09:35 AM

GREAT NEWS good.

StarkReality 10-23-2006 09:43 AM

Great news, no "oh, maybe, well, others do it too" but a straight and clear statement.

Elixir 10-23-2006 09:49 AM

good choice !!

TheSwed 10-23-2006 09:53 AM

great :thumbsup

CDSmith 10-23-2006 10:24 AM

I'm not surprised at all by this stance. PussyCash and all those involved in it have been absolutely rock solid when it comes to dealing with unethical practices, spammers and the like. Zero tolerance.

I would expect no less actually, and am proud to have had such a longstanding business relationship with them.

Bravo.

Nice... Now we just need to come down on the ones stealing the traffic I send to imlive.

hmmmm.. so as the competitors come out against Zango... just which competitors does Lars have to protect himself against?

Webmasters can help fight Zango, thanks to Jim from over at Greenguy & Jim BBS.

From their newsletter:
Quote:

With all the talk about Zango these past few weeks, I think the best offense is a great defence. And to me, education of the surfer is the key.

I have come up with a page that both will scare the surfer and explain how to get rid of this software. I also have an htaccess file that twill detect Zango users and redirect them to this page.

I need to let you know that this page is only m way to help the surfers clean their PCs. There are not nor will there ever be any ads on this page. And, it will always be there for your surfers. You really have nothing to lose...you won't make any money from these surfers anyway.

Here is the url for the page I created...
http://www.adwaresucks.com/zango

And the htaccess file can be found here...
http://www.adwaresucks.com/zango/zangohtaccess.txt

You may use this if you would like. We have tested it and it appears to be working very well.

As more of these adware/spyware products surface that will take money from webmasters and programs alike, I will make a new directory, page and htaccess file.

I hope all of this helps.
Jim

I intend to use this method on my sites. Hopefully some of you jump on board and help in the fight (while better protecting your traffic).

Nice I like it. I hope everyone uses this script or similar ones like it.

This could be great PR for us an industry. Maybe have some links to differnet pages with more info like : Adult industry does NOT support Spyware - Explain how this hurts us just as much as the surfer and we are fighting for them too, to keep the internet spyware free. etc.

Zester 10-24-2006 12:22 PM

Imlive's opinion about Zango's software services was clearly indicated on the forum.

In the case above, ImLive can do nothing with third level search engines letting Zango use their results, and can not stop advertising in those search engines.

Imlive can't control any third party's business decisions, yet we emphasize again that in case you run into companies or webmasters using Zango or similar software in order to divert traffic from ImLive to other websites, or in order modify the traffic's source thus unlawfully enjoying its payouts, or to divert traffic from other sites to ImLive - please inform ImLives stuff, so well be able to handle the matter.

germ 10-25-2006 10:51 AM

good job, pussycash

OzMan 10-25-2006 10:56 AM

Great to see and forgive my ignorance but I'm just curious how you and other sponsors will "handle the matter" if it's other sponsors bidding on your keywords?

Pussycash: "Hey don't bid on imlive, pussycash etc anymore on zango ok?"

Other sponsor replies:

a) "Oh sorry we didn't know it would be a problem, we'll stop right now"
b) "We have to before you try to do it to us"
c) "It's a free country, whoever has the deepest pockets wins"
etc etc

I doubt it will be a) so how do you solve it?

:helpme
